Welcome back. I’m so excited you decided to come back and visit this burnt out homeschool mom. I went curriculum shopping. Do you know what that means? Yes I’m going back to homeschooling.
So this spring we will be back to homeschooling media for so many reasons. I just wanted to share with you. What are some of the pics I have for Homeschool Curriculum when you don’t have a lot of energy, I bought Masterbooks for my elementary students and middle school student. I have an order from Christian books coming on its way and I will be taking the things I have learned over the decade of homeschooling in my experiences from classical conversations to put together my curriculum for this year.
I’m glad that you have come back to join this homeschool mom of six to see what an old veteran tries to do to keep it together

I did something radical this year, not because I was burned out, but because my kids were. I realized when they didn’t want to start back at the end of summer that they were dreading math. So, I started taking them through Life of Fred, using the very first book. It has been great! We’ve all learned so much and have enjoyed it together. I read, they do the work on their little white boards, and then they explain how to do each problem rather than just blurting out an answer as they take turns around the group answering. They can look at the text if they want, but for the most part, it has been all them listening to me, which has been great at teaching them how to take notes. It has been helpful having them explaining orally, especially since I have two who are new to English. We’re now at about book 12 and have filled in lots of holes we didn’t know were there. We have no plans to stop!

We really do like it. My oldest who is 20 yrs now, went through the whole series through high school, independently. He thought that there were some instances where more explanation would be helpful. He did not use the extra practice books. I’m not sure they existed yet, but those could have been helpful for him.

It’s great to see you back! Thanks to you we are loving CLE. I’m using K1 and K2, 2nd grade Reading, Language Arts, and Math, and 5th grade Language Arts. We tried MB and it wasn’t enough for us. It left my kids frustrated at the lack of practice with new concepts.

Look at how many people you are an inspiration for, Trish. 3,000 love you and jumped at this update!!! I have been in craaaazy burnoutville for a couple years and building, and you have been my cheerleader, even in my head while you took a break here and there. Thank you for being so frank, dreaming so big, but being so real, and loving your kids so much that you have to work through all of this, and thank you for showing us your example along the way! God bless your time with your kiddos! We get wiser as we go, huh? I wish we got increasing energy to go with it. 😅

I'm so looking forward to seeing you on KZfaq again! You are one of my favorite KZfaq homeschool moms and love how real you are. The Lord has even led me to pray for you, too, at times. I'm so glad to see you back! May God give you the strength, joy, and all you need for this coming homeschool year! I'm also glad you took time to care for yourself. Thank you so much for sharing about your life. God has used you in my life as an encouragement and guidance in homeschooling.

I have missed you. My husband passed almost 2 yrs ago and I have been floating like a leaf with no where to land. My heart is broken and grief is still great. My story is long and difficult with family, adoption, and no home, so I will try to be brief. We have four adult children and adopted three young children a year before he passed. We lived in the desert of CA and did not have a home after he passed as he was a government Employee and we lived on the isolated base. With no home , no where specific to go, and family sprinkled in Fl and the east coast, we spent last winter all over Florida. I am now in TN helping my daughter with her children while her husband was deployed. We plan to move permanently to Arizona, Texas, or back to Fl this summer. While in Fl, I often thought of you and wondered how you and your family were doing on your new path. Also, wondered if we were anywhere near you. We went from the panhandle, down the gulf side to a Naples, and all the way up the east coast. It was such a comfort when your video populated on my KZfaq page. I can’t wait to hear more from you about your journey. Where city are you in Fl?

I’ve been following you since you were deep into cle (which you really influenced me to go with) and cc. You’re awesome! We tried TGATB and it wasn’t for us. You were a big influence and now I have my own channel. lol. I hope we can be friends and love that we can connect here. Excited for watching update videos on how these new programs go for y’all. I stumbled my way into your video as I am homeschooling my 13 year old. With everyone posting their mid year homeschool update videos I was hoping to find someone like you. I don't know what it is this year but I have been feeling like I've just been going through the motions and not really enjoying homeschooling like I have in years past. I have to say my burn out comes from work because I actually work full time outside of the home and homeschool 😅) I however have not been feeling like we've made ANY progress this year and am considering sticking with 6/7th grade curriculum for next year as well. With everyone's upbeat and excited for the New Year videos it's nice to see other people who might be feeling the way I do right now. Thanks for being so relatable! ❤

It's nice to see you again! I have been following for you for years and you have been so helpful. I'm graduating my eldest homeschooler this year...whooohoo...after eight years of homeschooling. My second is in Gr. 8 and I am slowly burning out but am looking forward to next year since I have a Sonlight core I used with my eldest so that will lighten my load next year. For my Gr. 8 I am using Memoria Press Geography III and Memoria Press Literature Guides (To Kill a Mockingbird, Poetry and Short Stories) and totally recommend them (Very to the point, no fluff). My daughter and I both have ADD so need something very straightforward. We are using Wordly Wise 10, Art of Argument (with DVDs) and Saxon math and Apologia Nutrition. Trying to keep it independent and clear cut since we are both totally scattered brained. When you are looking at future videos any guidance you can give on curriculum for math for ADHD/ADD brains would be super appreciated.

It's good to see you again. It's been a long time. I don't have any kids homeschooling anymore. My oldest daughter is a senior in high school at a charter school. My second oldest is a sophomore in high school at a Lutheran school. My third oldest is an 8th grader in charter school. He will be going to a school for the handicapped next year, hopefully. I have two sixth grade girls in our local Catholic primary school. Then a fourth grader, a first grader and a kindergartener at the same school. We are paying a fortune for tuition, but our public schools here support overtly antichristian rhetoric. They support agendas that directly violate the 10 commandments. Therefore, it's easier to just pay thousands of dollars in tuition every year than to homeschool. I too had serious homeschool burnout. I'm still not over it, but I bought CLE's Learning to Read to help my first grader with reading because he's struggling with phonics. I tutor him, my fourth grader, and my kindergartener after school in reading and religious education. I am still a housewife, though, even though all 8 of my kids are in school full time.

Even without homeschooling being a mom to a large family takes alot of work! So glad you and your husband make that a priority. It's so hard being a mom and housewife in todays world. Sometimes it feels like the world says a woman is worthless unless she has a career. But being a mom, wife and housewife is just so important!! God Bless you and your family.
