Vance's wife, whose heritage or immigration started in India, might help bring multicultural millennials into the republican party. Trump is not a typical conservative Republican. I think the party is moving in a different direction. Trump's wife is Eastern European, and VP nominees' wife from Asia, republican party is more global minded than Democratic. Democratic Party is more about focusing on minorities in USA (wokeness, transgenderism, etc) Republican of the past was WASPy (White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestants)

True. I grew up in fem leaning multiethnic town in a tough neighborhood. Rust belt towns like his, and like the one I live in now are often multiethnic. Yes, there are ethnic tensions. There are also multiethnic families like mine and lots of others, especially in the North. Racism is more and less severe in different parts of the country... The parties, and especially the Dems, run their whole existence on stereotypes! Republicans have too, but that looks like it's changing. Trump almost died because of the kinds of things he does that appeal to the alt right... I'll never vote for him, but I might support Vance sometime

@@ImmortalStrike-ed5dc Agree. We don't have a locked 2 tier system setup, but many more options to choose from. Liberal over here just means 'open minded' , which obviously is something that is unheard of by many of these badly informed and/or poorly educated simple minds. It looks like both sides in America seem to care most for seeing the other side cry (liberal tears/maga tears), while chanting USA USA...Agree to disagree is a myth to them it seems. But seen how he wrote 'European liberals are panic', my guess would be he even might be nothing more than just another Russian troll

Almost ALL the NATO members are spending 2% of the GDP or much more than that for their defence. One of those rare ones that doesn't is located in North America. Goes by the name Canada. Plus Spain and i think Belgium. That's about it. Even the newest NATO members Finland, Sweden, North Macedonia and Montenegro are ALREADY spending minimum of 2%.

NATO is not subsidized, it rellies on the militar strenght of each country. The only direct costs to NATO relate to staff, troops stationed, etc. And without going against the lack of militar investment by many European countries, you need to see the other side of the coin, during many decades the US also wanted things to be that way, to have Europe dependent.

@jorgemachado669
@jorgemachado669 Ай бұрын
@@laserdolphin6483 You ignore that fact that during decades several US administrations also wanted to be like that for control and other motives. moreover, alliances are not transactional assets or something that you can freeze in case you do not want (like Russia) or invoke in the near future (certainly with China regarding Taiwan). If you do not want to be in NATO, just leave it. Europe has enough manpower, industry, economy, competences and tech to have its own army and weapons. But be ready for China to have militar bases, treaties and representation in Europe. And do not ask Europe to go against China (which will not go especially if the US goes isolacionist). China may always want to have the upper hand, but may have a big advantage: not change their state of mind every 4 years or 2 years considering congressional elections.

In this sense I admire America. It has the freedom of mind to let go the old and positions and change, embrace something completely different, when it feels that is the roght choice. Do not get imprisoned by old stories, move to the future, unexplred, new. Change 360 degrees if you have to. But the caution is people's beliefs do not change easily and they come to the surface in challenging times.

Let Europeans wake up one more time what they see and hear from the US. Maybe the leaders in Europe have to have a more leveled mindset to see what is taking place before their eyes and literally wake up or something even worst can happen in the entire European continent. He needs someone people might vote for because of his age. Trump could get sick or die bc he's almost 80 yeara old. He picked someone who resonates with the swing states this year. Culturally, so many Americans have an identity with the party that vote for. States with more people who choose anew and can be pursuaded are the ones that really decide who wins. They're all more likely to like JD Vance because they relate to him. VP makes more difference than it normally does because the candidates are both so old

The only power that could lead an Europeanised NATO is France. France has historical experience of leading such an initiative (e.g. 1919-1938; 1806-1813). Being in the EU gives her a better position than the UK. Germany has the problem of shouldering its dark past and rather strong pacifist sentiments. Yet of course French internal political chaos is a problem.
