WHAT A MONSOON STORM LOOKS LIKE IN ARIZONA

I was out of town when this Monsoon Storm blew through last night, but my husband captured it on his cell phone. I thought I'd share it with those of you who are curious about the weather in Arizona. We not only deal with extreme heat in the months of July & August, we can get sudden monsoon thunderstorms that can be quite dangerous. We had no damage at my home, but I know others weren't so fortunate.

When I lived in Phoenix, I remember how much I looked forward to the Monsoon season. I love rain and storms, and after months of desert heat, the storms that rolled in during the monsoon were not only breathtaking, but such a relief for my rain-loving soul. And there is nothing better than the smell of the desert after the rain--the creosote bushes especially. Just amazing! Thanks for sharing this--brings back many wonderful memories of my time in the Valley of the Sun!

Ooo, bringing back Monsoon memories! Sorry Marcy, it looks refreshing to me. I have lived all around Arizona and it's soo beautiful! Plus, I love the dry heat and monsoon season there. It can be dangerous sometimes. Thanks for sharing this! It's great!

Oh, I LOVE watching it, too. In fact, I was disappointed I wasn’t home for this one. But, then again, we didn’t have any damage. It would be a different story if that happened.

The saving grace of the Sonoran summer! The humidity is tough though. Thanks for sharing-I miss those summer storms.

So true. Fortunately, it doesn’t stay humid long. The dry ground soaks it up so fast.

Hi Marcy! ☺️😁😊 I sure hope you get some relief from the heat! Albuquerque has been hot as heck, but not as hot as where you are.

I was in New Mexico for the weekend and was surprised it was as hot as it was. But, still can’t compare to Phoenix. I’ll just be staying indoors the next couple of weeks. 🥵☀️🔥

I agree it, it's very trusty selectively I live in the desert but not too thirsty. The only difference is between the city and the desert. It drops by fine degrees, that's it.

You must be out near Phoenix. I can't live in that kind of heat. Years ago I lived in Las Vegas for 5 years but I really don't know how I managed. I'm in Elephant Butte now (I know you know where that is. I think you said you were from NM) and it's hot but not THAT kind of hot. Lovely back yard. If you didn't get roasted enough during the day, you can slip into your hot tub and finish the cooking process. 🤣

Yes, I'm from New Mexico and am very familiar with Elephant Butte. Most of my family is in the southern part of the state, but now my daughter lives in Albuquerque. I was actually visiting my sister in Silver City over the weekend when this storm hit in Arizona. It's always so much cooler in Silver City, but I was surprised how warm it was. Of course, nothing in comparison to Arizona. Your comment cracked me up. You pretty much nailed it. Maybe I can do a cooking video in the hot tub! 😂
