I had a woman driver on the slip road on the A38 coming out of Plymouth near the Shell Garage. I couldn't move , out motorcycle on my offside. She came out the slip road and hit me between the tractor unit and trailer. Ripped the front off her .car. I pulled over, She started screaming at me. Hahahaha Police arrived and the first thing she said was, "Its his fault he didnt pull over to let me out...." The Police officer smiled and started to report her for dangerous driving. Hahahahahahaha I was so happy.

I share your frustration about drivers behaviour on slip roads, one thing that gets my goat are people in a hurry and come charging down the outside of you on the slip, trying to do all their overtaking in 200 metres of the slip road instead of the hundreds of miles in front of them on the motorway and end up trying to join the motorway 2 abreast, grrr...

if that was me waiting to get into my street i would have backed up on to the main road for the truck to get out it would have been quicker than making you reverse back up that tight road. some times its better to let other people out to make your own life easier.

Hi Kev, Please take great care when wearing a HiVi tabard they can easily get hooked in on protrusions especially when you jump down off the truck, even worse when their not done up. They are banned in tunnel works just for that, guys have been pulled into running conveyor belts etc. Resulting in lost limbs at worst, broken bones and gashes at least. Get the company to issue HiVi shirts with snug fitting arms and wear them tucked in. Not only are they safer but look smart as well. When approaching the police pound I thought I recognized the area, then clicked where it was. I worked on the refurbishment of the old Blackwall tunnel. Works were done on nights as we needed to close the tunnel and put the new tunnel in two way traffic mode. We had breakdown trucks sat at each end and extra police patrols, the cops loved it as it was nearly always that the bad guys car broke down????? Then the cops got a nick. Glad you got the pick up sorted and your day was not completely ruined. Take care out there. Thanks

Kev, there might be a motive behind the Met possibly doing something with you - your truck can take 5 uninsured vehicles per trip, so way more than the trucks they usually use!

Great video Kev, as for pulling off a slip road onto a main carriageway I always check my mirrors as I get on and assess what’s going on behind me and anticipate where I can get on safely. Motorway driving should really be introduced into a test, it’s quite shocking that you can literally pass your test then 5 minutes later go straight onto a motorway where we all know what speeds some do. Most people coming up the slip lane forget the line on their right between slip and carriageway is to be treated as a give way, or they just don’t give a flying one.

I feel more needs to be done on driving tests! It’s simply not enough, all they teach you how to drive straight, forward backward, how to park how to turn left and right, go round roundabouts (not that well I think) and that’s it really. I think a lot more needs to be done to teach people how to drive on motors and dual carriageways and just drive better in general, in all conditions a little like the pass plus scheme just more in depth.

I use the elevation to my advantage, like warned my brother of a truck parrallel with us the one day, and grandad doing 45-50 down the slip road infront of us, it also allowed my brother to decide whether to put his foot down, or to slow down for the truck in lane 1. and that is looking through green vegitation, so no real excuse not to use the elevation to be a safer driver. there are times whereby the slip road is dangerous, and would have to use the hard shoulder because 2 trucks are tail gating eachother like J39 east bound on the M4. so avoid that slip road at all costs. but eather that or you get the stupid prat that pulls across hatchings, and straight into lane 3 at 30 mph, j45 of the m4 west bound

As an ex trucker of almost 40 years I came to realise that the majority of car drivers drive looking no further than the end of their bonnet, you have to think for them, what is the idiot going to do next?

OK slip roads, Im 72 a "reasonable" driver who has had 14 years of successful oval racing experience, but am still a 2 wheeled rider, but and a very big but, due to being a 2 wheeled rider I`m used to looking in my mirrors AND looking over my shoulder before i commit to enter the main carriageway, even in my landrover/ bikers get one chance so I look before I leap so to speak.Most slip roads give you ample time to view whats on the left hand lane, there speed, before you commit to pull out before or after them - but then not everyone has the brain to ride 2 wheelers let alone drive 4 or more..Thanks for the videos - Ian.

I enjoy this guy, he works for a company about a mile from me, Trents. There is a photo in their recycled parts shop, taken about 70 years ago of their "stock", the cars are stocked 5 high for about 150 meters by 20 meters. This guy is recovering write-offs across about the most southern 10% of the England.

Totally agree with you and slip roads and also roads coming onto major roads with a wide sideways view of traffic on major road. I am in Ireland and same thing happens or people braking and then indicating to turn left or right in front of you, Sometimes you can nearly tell by the "body language" of the car in front of you that something is not quite right but still, indicate the intention and then if space and time allows make the move without impeding other traffic.

totally agree about "some/not all" people joining motorways/dual-carriageways...they don't seem to have an appreciation of speed or size of vehicle they can see...or should be able to see in their mirrors and adjust their speed accordingly...they seem to think they have a RIGHT to join when they want to whether it's safe or not...good vlogs Kev...keep them up...p.s. do you not get sea-sick with all that bouncing around in your seat? 8-D

Stuck on Blackheath to get to the Charlton pound. There was an earlier left then right at the traffic lights you turn left, instead of being stuck on the traffic to the roundabout. Still you got there on time. Love your videos. I Bournemouth and Bath were on my visit list this year, but all scrapped due to the current situation.

I was class one truck driver in the 80s and 90s no sat navs and we had gears with splitters and range change and the old style tachographs and no digatal readouts how how long you got left to ur break. No auto gearbox. You got it easy nowadays. Remember ud have to drive thru London A to Z in one hand and wheel in other. Brings back memories tho. Xx

what gets me in is when im doing 55 and cars sit on your bumper for miles when your in lane 1 and they are in lane 2 and wont come passed and you cant pull out so you have to break pull out behind them to over take and then they accelerate

At 26.20 you talk about traffic light priorities. The rule is that you should be able to stop in the distance you can see to be clear. You should also not obstruct junctions. so green does not always mean go. You don'y have an aitomatic priority just because the light is green for you. So you are absolutely right to check.

I have taught a number of new drivers how to enter a motorway and there is one simple thing they need to do and that is hit 60 before the end of the slip road 60 will make you a little faster than a truck on a limiter also tany car doing 70 is not gonna come screaming up on them

Well done Kev something good to watch another dour night on so called Terrestrial TV this evening I despair Thank you for keeping us entertained.I will tell you a story a few years ago on what was called JTV (Justin TV) now just does gaming I believe,used to watch this Guy called Trucker James who shared his cab with us driving the Highways of the USA usually Live and good fun also there was another guy in Florida I liked called Dana who drove a Pilot Car escorting big loads around and about drove a Dodge Ram Hemi which was pretty cool and sounded great take care out there stay safe.
