It's summertime, and after a year of being locked up in quarantine it's time to step outside (safely) and get some ultraviolet rays of sunshine. But before you go soaking up that sun you'd better get that sunscreen on, because otherwise your skin will literally burn, and the damage that can be caused by a sunburn can actually be serious. Find out what sunburns really are doing to your skin right now!

I’ve only ever had a sunburn once or twice. The second time was a tiny one on my shoulders, but the first one was crazy! I was on vacation in Mexico as a kid, and it’s very hot there. We wore tank tops/shorts and other similar clothing, so our skin was exposed. Even though we kept swimming around in the outdoor pool, most of us were still very warm. Eventually, I jumped into the pool and submerged my shoulders aND IT BURNED. I remember freaking out and finding out I had gotten a sunburn on my shoulders and it was surprisingly painful

Sunburn caused me a 2nd degree. I stayed at hospital for 5 days. My shoulders was full of blisters. My legs was hurting so bad that I couldn’t walk. I went to pool with my friends for 8 hours without an umbrella and with a wrong sun cream. The doctors started peeling off my skin(removing the blisters) and it was very hurtful. They recommended me some creams to use after the sunburn in body (dermasin, cicatridine). I recommend everybody: dont go to pool or beach without a best sun cream, especially when you have a soft skin.

With growing up in the Florida keys, I had relatives constantly in the sun getting sunburned as it was a normal occurances but also skin cancer that reduces your life by years and this occured to several relatives much like many of your families. Later in life, I can't take the heat yet still live in Florida. I want to move to a colder climate but own way to much and our economy is just not great at the moment to sell off.

You don't own anything, you just think you own, this world was here long before you, and it'll be here long after you radioactively decay. Sunburn happens everywhere on the planet. You can go back to the caucus mountains and still die from radiation poisoning. You can't hide from the sun. Lack of sunlight is a death sentence. What you need is carbon 14. It's all around you, yet you lack it. It's like being on a boat in the middle of the ocean and dying of thirst. Water is all around you yet you can't take advantage of it. Your whole world is made up of Carbon. Everything from your phone to your clothes, but you can't take advantage of it.

The medication makes your skin super sensitive, and I was an idiot and didnt wear any sunscreen. All I could do for the next week was stand under a cold shower and try not to cry. It was extremely painful. All the Dr could do was give me some medicated cream. Still have scars on my back from it, and Im 36 now. It's been awhile since I got bad sun burned and I remember it was quite terrible. Yeps...many cells were destroyed that day. If I could just get my hubby to use the lotion. Hopefully this video helps since I made him listened. Thanks 👍

While their skin has more natural protection from the sun than lighter skin tones due to higher levels of pigment, the pigment doesn't block all light. In fact, a 2010 CDC study found that 13% of Black women and 9% of Black men reported getting a sunburn in the past year, compared to the average of 50.1% across all ethnicities and genders. The UV Rays will still cause cancer, and you can get burned and not shows all symptoms.

This was very informative, thanks. But could explain HOW sunblock works? I never understood how a transparent cream that disappears as you rub it in protects you. Clothing and shade is obvious.
@CONSOLETRUTH2
@CONSOLETRUTH2 3 жыл бұрын
That cream is absorbed into the skin and since it stays at basically the surface it actually blocks UV light which is what we really need to worry about. Think of it as a mirror that bounces dem uv rays away from you.
@cysion9993
@cysion9993 3 жыл бұрын
There are two types of sunscreen. One type actually bounces the uv rays off your body and the other type reacts with them on the surface of your skin so it doesn’t harm you.

I once forgot to apply sunscreen to my legs before going to the beach, only realized after a couple of hours. At first it didn't seem that bad, my skin was just a little red... Then I woke up the next day with tennis-ball blisters on my legs. That was one of the most painful mistakes I've made. Weeks of excruciating pain everytime I had to move my legs, Tylenol and Codeine barely contained it. Never ever forget to apply sunscreen to all parts of your skin that are going to be exposed to the sun.

A while ago I went on holiday and was out in the beating hot Australian sun in the middle of summer swimming 2 days in a row, without a shirt. And to make it worse, I have really sensitive and fair skin. You can imagine how the skin on my back and shoulders was pretty much destroyed. Also, when I was young I use to get sunburn all the time, especially on my face. As a result I had many many freckles, but fortunately I have been very careful since then and the freckles have almost faded completely, which is a good sign that my face has not been severely burnt in a long time. Ever since I first became aware of the consequences of being burnt all the time, I have had a big paranoia of skin cancer. And this video certainly didn't help the paranoia lol.
