By the way, I have watched other pokemon let’s go eevee/pikachu reviews and this is the only one that convinced me to go and buy the game. I’m so glad you enjoy the game so much!! I, just like you, was super skeptic to the fact that wild battles were not a thing in this game. At first I didn’t plan on getting it at all, but as the hype and nostalgia started building up, I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on a Pokémon game finally on the Switch. And MAN do I love this game! I even ended up getting both versions, and I can’t even say how much I enjoy travelling through Kanto again.

One thing I kind of nit pickedly disliked was how there's no opening nidorino and gengar fight, that would have been cool to see

thought the game would suck but still bought it just to try and I really like it (i’m a hardcore pokemon fan played all games multiple times except for the black(2) and white(2) and I have put in more than 2000 hours in all pokemon games combined)

Today has been the worst day in a while. Thank you so much for goading a chuckle out of me! And I completely agree on the catching mechanic. It's really nice in the way it makes battling feels fresh and interesting when you get to a trainer-area, instead of making you want to dodge them all. Also, I've tried to only catch 1 of each Mon I've seen, and the coach trainers and bosses are only rarely a lvl or two below my mine. In my experience, this is maybe the best balanced game in terms of difficulty we've had in the franchise!

This was my first Pokemon game since Yellow, going into it knowing that it was a "remake" didn't bother me one bit. It truly felt like a brand new experience all around. Sure there were memories, but wow ... I was nothing but impressed! Oh, and as far as being catered to young people... I'm 38, don't judge me. LMAO

I definitely think it’s easier but by the same token I don’t think it’s too easy - I feel like they’ve found the right balance where it doesn’t feel condescending but you also don’t need to stop and grind for an hour or so before every gym. I had the game preordered since June (and I don’t do preorders) and it’s been everything I wanted and so much more. The Pokeball plus in particular brings sooooo much more to the table than I expected.

I have been LOVING this game. The catching mechanic and everyone getting EXP have finally got me grinding out more pokemon. I have a lot of games to play so I never have the time to level up all my pokemon and now every so often I just swap out my entire team and catch pokemon for a half hour and I've got a semi average new team that I use for the next stages of the game.

There were more voice cracks in this video than my whole life.

This really hit home for me. Im 28 and played a ton of Yellow back in the day. I bought the lets go eevee with the poke ball plus and I just cant get enough of this game. Have clocked almost 50 hours and have so far completed my pokedex and started my shiny hunting. 3 hours of ponyta today drove me a little crazy, but still fun.

this guy is complaining that he wasted 40 minutes for shining Pokemon. it used to take days or even weeks to get shining Pokemon with perfect stats.

Pokemon Let's Go is almost a love letter to my childhood... I love it so much, been having so much fun with it, almost 30 hours of gameplay and I still have a crap tone of stuff to do!

33 year old recently got back into pokemon because of Ultra Sun/Moon and these games really selected it. I've play through most or all of the games but now I'm really diving into the post game. You're never too old for Pokemon.

I was waiting for this game for month, now it's finally here. I first thought that the new catching mechanismn is kind of dumb, but after a few hours into the game, I began to like it. The one thing I can't get over yet, is the starter pokemon learning all the special moves. It's a bit silly in my eyes, but maybe that's because I'm 30 now and I'm getting grumpy. Great video! :)

I DEMAND A REMASTER OF XD GALE OF DARKNESS, AND COLOSSEUM, Nostalgia may be in overdrive but damn I love those games to death, I want it to have no loads zones, I want to see Shadow Lugia in all its AWE-INSPIRING DARK GLORY with graphics that have been overhauled, and I want at least Majora's Mask amount of side quests added doesn't have to be korok seed level but I want even more to do "besides beating Chobin up" I also want more Shadow Pokemon to save (And preferably I'd like all of this to be on my switch within the next two years)

I tried so hard to get into this game. It is very polished and I love that they tried something new, but personally it wasn’t for me. Maybe it was the leveling system, or maybe it was a little too simple for me, I dunno. But I have no doubt others really liked this game, and that’s great!

You make really great points! Yeah, grinding was a chore back then with having to switch out pokemon. And having the EXP. Share or Amulet Coin took up the item space so held items didn't give much strategy.

Dude, you left out the part about using pokeball plus strolling mode where you can bring along either your partner or any pokemon in your box to walk with you in real life! You can also “play” with the pokemon inside and if you had linked with pokemon go, it might help you play the mobile game as well! Plus When you transfer the pokemon back to Switch, you will get tons of experience and candys depending how far you had walked with your pokeball!!!

I want to preface this conversation by saying I stopped playing Pokémon 'competitively' after X and Y. I played Pokémon sun and moon also, but quickly put it down due to boredom. I also played Pokémon go during it's peak and reached level 28 but fell away afterwards. Along with being busy with other things in my life, I fell away with playing the games but still kept up with everything new in the series. Even with that, I was sceptical about Pokémon let's go. I want to share my pros and cons of this game coming from this perspective. *Sorry for the long post* *The Graphics* I don't think I need to clarify anything here. The game looks gorgeous and pulls you in to the world of Pokémon. Everything from the art style, to the scaling of pokemon in battle, fills my heart with joy and nostalgia. Battles feel impactful, the overworld with pokemon scaled to size oozes with personality. I cannot get enough of it. If pokemon is headed in this direction in the future, I am beyond excited. *Wild Pokemon* Along with many people, this was my main concern going into this game. What seemingly is the most controversial change to the pokemon formula, seems completely natural in practice. I like the new catching mechanic. I realize that there is a certain level of skill involved in getting a wild Pokémon to a sliver of health, perhaps throwing a status condition, and capturing it. I get that and I do miss it to a certain degree. But, in my opinion, if they don't bring it back I won't be to cut up about it. There is something to say about the skill involved in catching Pokemon in this game as well. The capture animations are also a sight to behold and are worth the tradeoff. I hope in generation 8 they bring back more of a blend of the traditional and new capture mechanics.... even if just to make the pokeball plus accessory an easier cost to swallow haha. Running into fully fleshed out pokemon character models, instead of random encounters in grass, is a bold but amazing decision. I don't know about you guys, but in other games, before going through caves, routes, etc., stocking up on repels is a necessity. Running into pokemon every 2-5 seconds in a cave is annoying. Beyond making the overworld gorgeous, I like having the choice to run into pokemon that I want to capture. In generation 8, where I would imagine even more pokemon would be available, I'm excited to see what they do next! *Catching Pokémon/ Controls* In my opinion, I believe this game is best played on handheld at this time. Catching Pokémon with the click of a button is definitely preferable to the sometimes shotty motion controls. The lack of pro controller support is a real shame in my opinion for a couple reasons. For one, I believe it does really isolate the disables community. If anything, Nintendo should release a patch as soon as possible there is honesty no excuse for this. The only controller options available are the pokeball plus accessory and a single joycon. I bought the pokeball plus and, I have to say, it's a nice experience overall with motion capability being average. Catching wild pokemon was an overall pleasant experience but also had its frustrations. The best comparison I can make is it sometimes feels like using a wii remote without the sensor bar. This is also really apparent when playing with Pikachu/Evee. To put it lightly its a chore. The joystick is a bit sensitive and can lead to misclicks. Playing with whith the joycons is an ok experience but I would definitely push you toward getting the pokeball plus. It's not like this games needs more than one hand to play, but it would be nice to see the 2 hand experience come to console play as opposed to being limited to handheld. *Final thoughts* As a long time fan of Pokémon that fell off for a couple years, this is an impactful reentry to the Pokémon world for me. It's a nostalgic overload to see the pokemon of my childhood, Fire Red and Leaf Green, come to life in this way. I don't know about you but I'm not tired of the Kanto region and I'm happy to return. I hope in the next game they continue with this style while adding back the traditonal mechanics of Pokémon like held items, abilities, normal exp gains etc. The battle animations, in my opinion, are also in need of a much needed update. Overall this game is a joy to play and if the franchise is heading in this direction I am very, very, excited.

I have eevee and I am loving the game however I do have an interesting and funny anecdote. In the first 3 episodes of the original pokemon anime they do make fun of ash trying to catch a pokemon without battling it. And now 20ish years later we are doing exactly what pokemon itself made fun of. Just thought I share that interesting tidbit.

Going forward with new Pokémon games they could add an option in the options menu if you want Pokeball encounters or battle encounters. Give the player a choice on how they want to play. If it can't be done on the fly then make it a game mode option when starting a new adventure.

Here, a way to Nuzlocke the game: You can change these rules as you see fit, but base rules have to be applied. 1. Base rules: - The first Pokemon that spawns in your sight in each area is the only Pokemon you can catch in that area. - If multiple Pokemon spawn at the same time, choose the Pokemon closest to you. - If there's two Pokemon equal distance from you, choose only one of them to capture. - If the Pokemon flees during your capture attempt, or you run away for any reason, you may not catch another Pokemon in that area. - Any Pokemon that faints is dead and must be sent to the professor. - If you white out or black out, you lose. - You must nickname every Pokemon you catch that will be used on your team. - If the Pokemon gets sent to your PC, you don't have to nickname it until you place it on your team. - You may not reset the game to the last save if the run is going poorly for you. 2. Optional rules: I. You may only level up through battles excluding the experience gained for the first Pokemon you capture in each area. II. You may not use your starter Pokemon. III. Your Pokemon can't be raise passed a certain level. - Example: Level 50 is max level, you can't go passed this. If a Pokemon goes passed this level you can no longer use it. - If the Pokemon goes passed the level cap during a battle and you lose all other Pokemon except this Pokemon, consider it the same as whiting/blacking out. IV. The game isn't over until you beat Blue, Green, and Red. V. You may not use any legendary Pokemon (Mew can be an exception). VI. Items may not be used OR Pokemon centers may not be used. - If Pokemon centers are used, they can only be used a certain amount of times per area. Example: Every town and dungeon area you may heal only twice while you can only heal once at the Elite four. - If Items aren't used You may not use any items that will give your pokemon an advantage and/or are used to replenish HP and PP. Candies are considered an advantage giving item. VII. You may only use status moves to attack the enemy. VIII. Turn off Switching in battles. IX. You may catch shinies if one appears and even use it on your team. But if the shiny faints, it's dead. X. You cannot use berries to make capturing a Pokemon Easier. XI. You cannot backtrack unless it is required to progress the story. - Example: Delivering the parcel or going to the Elite four before you have all 8 badges. - This means you can't go back to a Pokemon center in an old town once you enter a new area that will continue the story. XII. Your Pokemon may only use attacking moves. XIII. Your Pokemon may only use physical attacking OR special attacking moves. XIV. You may not use moves that heal during battle even if the move damages the opposing Pokemon. XV. You may not do this run with two players. XVI. If you do this run with two players, you cannot help each other catch Pokemon, and your Pokemon levels combined cannot surpass a certain level. - Example: let's say the level cap is 50 and you're using a level 30 Pokemon and your teammate is also using a level 30 Pokemon. Your combined level is 60, which surpasses 50. So one of you must switch out. - If you cannot fulfill this rule, then you lose the run OR your teammate must leave the game during the battle. XVII. You must battle every trainer you come across. - You cannot leave an area until EVERY trainer you see is battled and beaten. I'll stop there. xD If anyone tries this, I hope you enjoy the play-through.

The quality of life the made me so happy was the Pokemon Box. Its basically a PC in your bag. Gone are the days of having to return to a poke center to swap and manage Pokemon.

I was born in 91’ and loved Pokémon. People saying this game is too easy, or is “watered down” I have to disagree. I love the original games, I enjoy Pokémon go, so the mix of the two really worked for me, and the formula works well, in general. I’m 27 now, and Pokémon is just as addicting as ever. Also, it’s worth mentioning that if you play GO, by bringing Pokémon over to the switch, you get a mystery box for GO which allows you to catch Meltan for 30 min! Not even a single use, either. The box has a cool down of 3 days, at which point you can pop it again. Great bonus 🙏🏼

I feel like a lot of the issues/controversy surrounding the Let's Go series could have been solved with toggle features, especially with the catch/battling system. It's SO easy to implement a toggle feature for battling wild pokemon or exp sharing.
