Food allergies, drug allergies, seasonal allergies: Discover the science behind why they form and if there’s any truth to the idea that playing in the mud works as an allergen preventative.

If your child suffers from allergies, you’re probably itching for some answers as to why. In this episode of Parentalogic, hosts Alok Patel and Bethany Van Delft explore how a possible evolutionary glitch in the immune system-responsible for protecting you and your little ones from harmful invaders-may have caused itchy, irritating, nauseating allergic reactions. And, Alok and Bethany explore a potential hypothesis that could prevent allergies from forming in the first place.
An allergic reaction happens when the body perceives a harmless substance as a dangerous invader. The body then produces proteins-or antibodies-called IGE (immunoglobulin E). IGE “sees” a foreign invader and alerts other cells, which release chemicals that cause those allergy symptoms you or your child know and hate.
Scientists are still trying to understand the basis for allergens. Why do some people have a really bad response to food or other allergens while other people don’t? Sure, allergies all stem from IGE, which our ancestors evolved to protect against actual everyday invaders-worms, parasites, and environmental threats included. In our modern world, IGE has become a mechanism that can sometimes take a harmless invader (hello, peanut butter and Fido) and give us an expulsion response. That’s why allergies come with sneezing, hives, vomiting, or other reactions meant to eject a perceived threat from you or your little one’s body.
How legitimate is the hygiene hypothesis? Can keeping your home too clean make your child more likely to develop allergies? Should your child get their hands literally dirty (and covered in earthworms)? And is the 5-second rule meant to be broken?

I've known two people allergic to water, both would break out in hives. The hives only lasted for 30-60 minutes but what a nuisance.

I like to let my little guys crawl in the grass. I feel like the grass and dirt help build that immune system. Great video guys. Thanks a lot.

This video is a bit goofy, but maybe the topic of diet and processed food might want to be explored, since virtually all developed countries have allergies increasing and finding a common denominator seems to be important to solve this issue.

Not occurring to the professionals is how toxin exposure can look like allergies. The single most common of toxins are metals, light-weight like aluminum and heavy as lead and others.Toxins travel with the hypodermal fluids (water + ions, nutrients, cellular waste), outside of the blood/lymph vascular fluid. Especially when toxins could damage capillaries. You see evidence from a lot of unexplainable bruising or other symptoms not quite so visible or are surprising to you. It is particularly noticeable when you sneeze after bending forward, or look down. This hypodermal fluid travels as the Qi does, up the back of the body core to the top of the head and down the front of the body core. Thus the possibility that qi is just fluid outside of vessels. It carries nutrients to the cells after it is dumped into the space around capillaries. Because of damage from it pooling at the top of the head, it is harder to complete the flow down the face (some toxins) but it does flow down (gravity) when you bend your head down, or engage in activity or just lie down. Then it easily flows into the nose to cause hyper-irritation of nerves there and thus causes sneezing. They can interact with seasonal "causes". Pollen tends to contain a lot of phosphorus among other ions. The same for cats and to a lesser degreee, dogs. They can interact with internally flowing metals which lower the threshold for nerve conduction which would irritate the nasal mucosa even more, causing the sneezing. Ever stop sneezing temporarily by pressing the forehead or side of the nose with your hands. I "rest my case" but there is more. This hypodermal fluid flow in arms is similar to the body core, but backwards in the legs (traveling up in the front of the leg). Sometimes you might sneeze within as little as 2.5 min or even less if you rub itchy or slightly irritated skin on your foot. Metals can take that long traveling to the top of the head. The reason why IG proteins form when you have "allergies" is that the body's immune system thinks that bacteria are producing a toxin inside of the body when nerves are irritated by unknown items. This is the normal inflammatory process inside the body. So allergic responses will form when the irritation is actually a toxin. Typical toxins that might cause this reaction are inorganic, e.g. metals. Everyone who has had an advanced physiology lab knows that metal probes cause nerves to be irritated, lowering the threshold needed to transmit signals. The body doesn't know that metals alone my cause the irritation. ANY irritation will cause IG production. The release of metals into the air in any systematic way (unless you live next to an active volcano) did not occur in human history until mining for metal occurred. Thus our immune system did not change in response to metals. It just got more active. Taking medication that removes IG proteins thus seems ludicrous. But getting rid of the metals doesn't. Best solution to get rid of metals is eat/drink your fruit, but some are extremely difficult to get rid of because of their ability to attach to proteins, and other compounds in the body, as well as to damage capillaries. Most fruits are high in bromine so many metals love bromine. We already know how difficult it is to get rid of mercury. But aluminum is one of the most pervasive and difficult to remove. It is not a necessary metal in the body, anywhere. But you can understand how developed countries with all the mobile metallic products moving in cites would release more metal nanoparticles than in underdeveloped countries. It also explains why people have more allergies in cities than in rural areas, even though heavy equipment and trucks on the highways may be just as common as in cities, and despite a lot more of plant material in rural areas. So the explanations in this video, honest as it is that its statements are mostly untested hypotheses, are a bit simplistic.
