Hey, the most permanent ones are the dylon fabric paints. They are a UK brand, hopefully you can find them on amazon or online. They need heat setting after they dry using an iron but in my experience, they last really really well. Hope you find what you're looking for.

@@tuoyoanderson3550 hi, dylon fabric pens would be the best for calligraphy I'd say, I've used fat and thin ones and they do a great job on tote bags and t-shirts. Tulip dimensional paint would also work for this I feel but it has a dimensional effect. These also are great as they don't need heat setting. Dylon does need heat setting tho.

Hi, the paints don't make it stiff as such, but they do add a rough texture that wouldn't feel nice next to your skin. Maybe if the quilt has a side that will be on show, paint that and leave the underside plain so it's still smooth next to skin, if that's possible. Sounds like a cool project, good luck with it.

Hi, they do work on spandex but the thing that is difficult is spandex is so stretchy that drawing on it is quite difficult as it stretches with every pen stroke. If you can overcome this, I think it should work. Also, you may need to check the heat setting of the fabric pens to make sure the spandex can take an iron at that temperature. Hope that helps. 😊

Hi, I haven't used those specific paints you mention. But acrylic paint mixed with fabric medium/textile medium would work. 1part fabric medium to 2 parts acrylic paint. Or you can also get Tulip spray fabric paint which may give an interesting effect. Best of luck.

Hi, so if the fabric is black, you'll need to add a little white fabric paint to the paints you use so it stands out on the dark black. If the costume is a light colour, then no need to add the white. Fabric paints like Dylon and Pebeo are good in my experience. Hope it turns out fabulously scary.

Hi, usually most fabric pens work best on cotton/canvas. However fabric Sharpie marker may well be better for this as it says they work on synthetic fabrics too or try to find fabric pens that are specifically usable on Nylon. I guess the smaller the repair, the easier it is. For a larger area, it might not be as effective. Hope that helps and good luck.

Hi, thanks for your question. So I can only advise as I haven't painted a bikini myself. But the advice would be to avoid using heat set fabric paints as the synthetic bikini fabric may melt under the iron. Tulip fabric spray paints and fabric paint products have a wide variety that boast use on synthetic as well as natural fabrics so I'd start there. Another option would be to dye it maybe? Acrylic with fabric medium may not work if it requires heat setting. I'd start there and compare the highest setting required to set the liquitex medium against the label of the bikini with the iron recommended heat setting. Good luck!

Hi Vanessa, for stencilling on clothes, it might be easier to use fabric spray paints. Pabeo and Tulip do a range of fabric spray paints. The other option is to use normal fabric paints, place a small amount in a paint palette or saucer and use a sponge to apply them by dabbing the sponge with a little paint on, over the stencil. Hi, they won't show up much on dark fabrics. And they won't add layers that build up on the fabric. If you want this effect, try tulip dimensional paint.

@@narshsart3620 oh no I mean the layers more like posca pens than puffy paint/ dimensional paint. Not sinking into the fabric staying on top of but not in a 3-d way. Have you ever tried tulips soft fabric paint? Or Jacquard? Or arteza? I kinda hate puffy paint because it was the only thing available when I was younger and I couldn't find soft fabric paint anywhere. So it led to me painting a few things with acrylic and spray paint. They ended up very crunchy.

@@LifeLostSoul Aaaah, I see. Gotcha. OK so use fabric/textile medium with acrylic paint. I love using this cos I have the freedom of acrylic paints but it's not crunchy and is permanent on the fabric. You mix 2 parts paint with 1 part fabric/textile medium. No crunch! Sits on the fabric but not like puffy paint! It will need heat setting with an iron and a cotton cloth over it to protect your iron. Usually comes with good instructions though.

Hi, thanks for the question. So I haven't actually tried this myself so I can only advise. I would use black fabric paint though, rather than pen, I feel like the pen will run out quickly and may not completely blacken out the stripe. The paint will cover it more thoroughly and will last longer if washed in a cold wash or by hand. Apply with a paint brush, leave to dry 24 hours and the iron if instructions specify to do so. Hi, I wouldn't recommend the fabric pens for dark or black clothing. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kMplnKx5l5nQinU.html is a tutorial I've created on how to paint of darker fabrics. However, if you do want to use a more pen-like approach, rather than painting, I'd recommend the tulip dimensional paint. It's great, works on black fabric and is easy to draw on. It also doesn't need heat setting. Just make sure you leave it to dry 24hours and when you wash, either hand wash or wash on cold and place inside out in washing machine. Hi, thank you. I've never used 'pintor pencil' so I can't advise you on that. But you could try using fabric medium mixed in with acrylic paints. I've done this before on a t-shirt and it was excellent.

Glad to hear the Pintor Pencil didn't wash off. Happy to advise but I need more info about what you are painting on? If it is clothes, you can use a fabric medium or textile medium. Liquitex, Pabeo and other brands do bottles of this. Some require heat setting with an iron, others don't. You mix the fabric medium with acrylic paints and the medium turns the acrylic paints into fabric paints that last many washes on low washing heat. I hope this helps a bit. Amazon US and UK have fabric medium and acrylic paints. Not sure where in the world you are tho.

The pack I bought had a black, red, blue, red yellow and green. If you can't find the dylon ones, the 'Stained' by Sharpie are OK too and they come with more colours.
