Tithing is not a Christian doctrine or teaching. Many false teachers and controlling pastors insist that Christians must give ten percent of all their income to their local church. However, most pastors have very little understanding of tithing in the bible. They have never studied the subject properly and they often become speechless and then angry when you point out the facts. Tithing is not a part of the New Covenant. Abraham never tithed from his income either, he tithed once from the spoils of war and returned the other 90% to the Kings of Sodom and Gomorrah. There is absolutely no hint or suggestion that he tithed of his income. There are so many false teachers that twist the truth of tithing and now is the time for Christians to be properly educated in the concept of tithing. Should Christians pay tithes to their local church? Only if you want to, its not a requirement for Christians. People who think it is need to learn how to study the bible.

I love your sound teaching of the Word Brother. I came from nearly 48 years in Charismatic churches, but after much prayer and reading the Word this past year, I left that movement and am now attending a Bible teaching church. My previous churches were always laying guilt trips on us to give large amounts of money which much of it went to fund their luxuriant lifestyles. Please continue to teach us, your audience, the truth of God's Word. You and your ministry are a blessing.

I think what you are saying is spot on. I want to add this though. The pastor of the small church I belong to is amazing, the place of worship where we meet is amazing. We all contribute willingly to keep this building afloat. Being a pastor doesn’t have to be a full time job but I don’t mind giving money to fund his income for spending time in the word to teach it thoroughly and expositorily. He doesn’t preach tithing, he doesn’t preach forceful giving. He preaches God’s word and truthfully, like this channel does.

Thank you for enlightening the body of Christ on this very relevant subject on biblical tithing. I believe that most knowledgeable pastors know that tithing is relegated to the Old Testament requirements, but many are brainwashing the congregation into believing that without tithing, God will not accept them into heaven. You ministry is a blessing to the true body of Christ.

So I'm a former charismatic (feels like the opening to an AA meeting just writing that) and this was something that I had been bound just about the entirety of my life. Through sound teaching and dedicated study, I was able to see this with clarity. It's disheartening however to see just how many of my friends and family are fearfully tied to tithes... Kind of feels like an uphill battle, yet all things are possible through Christ. Thank you for a sound delivery of the Word. Keep at it!

@@balung I believe that God can and does as He pleases, and should I pray for healing and He heals me, that is His decision. I can't demand it and regardless of how much faith I may have concerning His ability to heal me, ultimately that is His decision. Look at Paul and Timothy for examples of godly men who suffered physical conditions. I cant blather on in a pretend language and call it the gift of tongues, not when scripture states that when the gift was used in Acts that it was distinct languages of men, and a complete fulfilment of a prophecy in Isaiah. These are just a few of the things that "charismatics" assert and claim they can do. So, no, I certainly believe in the Holy Spirit. I see in scripture that He dwells within me, gives me the capacity to seek after the Lord and is the seal of my salvation.

It's refreshing to see biblical teaching on this subject as opposed to what many (most?) churches teach these days. When I meet a tither or tithe teacher I always politely ask why they only tithe a single 10% when then bible commands multiple tithes. I've never had a biblical response, yet I pray that I have prompted them to return to read what the bible teaches about tithing.

When I first started debating on MSN boards decades ago this came up and I had reasoned back then the tithe, especially the 10 percent, was error because of two texts- What Peter said to Annias and Sapphira that it was theirs to do with as they please and what Christ said about the poor woman giving out of her indigent status and rich people were not really giving (giving the same as the poor) because they were merely giving out of their wealth ($100 from a billionaire for instance or the actor who must let everyone know they gave $1,000 for whatever). .It seemed to me that most were giving solely to get something back which really didnt seem to line up with being a good steward so since then and especially the last 5 years has really confirmed that for me. .

I’m the worship leader in the church I attend. I wasn’t seeking to be, but God worked it that I was the only one who had the God given talent to do it. However I have not and will not pay the church a tithe. God showed me long ago the error not just of requiring a tithe in the NT, but many other errors being taught and excepted by the people in the churches. I will follow a pastor as he follows Christ. But not in what my Bible doesn’t teach. I believe we should give, but not just money, but of ourselves. Acts 15 tells us what’s required of Gentles and tithing is not listed. When Jesus separates the sheep from the goats, he lists things we did unto him, and welcomes us into his kingdom, tithing was not listed! Keep teaching Gods truth brother!

THIS 🙌 Thank you for such thorough teaching! I grew up Charismatic / Pentecostal and I am so grateful God opened my eyes to see the truth. The biggest challenges I had to overcome were tongues and tithes. Years of charismatic / prosperity teaching made me feel like I would be “stealing from God” if I ever didn’t tithe. I started tithing around age 14 - I tithed from my pocket money. Again, thank you for sound and concise teaching.

I also have issues with churches especially since they are rampant with outright lies and heresies however that is not what sparked that in me and I never understood why we weren't able to simply have church in our own homes (like must be done in some countries). .what caused it for me was when a pastor decided it was a good idea to meddle in my relationship (20 plus years ago) and destroy it. .

Paul established several churches in the New Testament. Being a part of a local assembly is very important and crucial to being a true Christian. The New Testament does not tell us to tithe, but it does tell us to give what we purpose in our heart. God loves a cheerful giver. If you sow sparingly you will reap sparingly and if you sow bountifully you will reap bountifully. That’s New Testament teaching.

My friends, as always, great teaching. YOU are very BLESSED, and your teaching of the WORD of GOD is truthful, and is touching and changing many lives, GOD BLESS! BUT, I must say, I do NOT agree regarding the Church, that you mention at the end of your video. I think very much so that Churches are important and are part of Christ's plan for US. The Church is Christ's BRIDE, and it is where brothers and sisters get together to learn, and PRAISE THE LORD! And, as much as I agree that tithing is used by most pastors to make money, and it is NOT BIBLICAL, it IS indeed important to give offer to the Church to pay for expenses... "electricity, water, suplies, rent, cleaning, help the ones in need, food, etc", and THAT IS IT! Then again, I mean an "OFFER", whatever you feel in your heart and can afford, NOT a set amount DEMANDED by the pastor and church leaders. I do NOT agree with the way Churches are today, trying to make the MOST MONEY, to grow and become LUXURIOUS, the pastor being paid a hefty salary, just to ONE, MAYBE 2 times a week, playing the role of a BOSS, that everyone must bow to; it is simply RIDICULOUS! BUT, nonetheless, I DO believe the church is Biblical, and important😉!

What I hate is to "become a member", you are required to give a tithe. Since this is a requirement, it is no longer a cheerful giving but a duty. As of this teaching, all these preachers say we're not under the law while being up that money must be done. Where's the giving to the poor? It's always whatever is left after salaries, bills, improvement on worship, tech advances, maintenance, building expansion or loans for more real estate, the poor is a portion of what's left over.

Proverbs 21:26 kjv He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not. Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. Love each other like Jesus loves us, for God is love

Tithing is a Jewish obligation for the Levites. Period. Unless someone is a Jew then it may apply to you should you chose. No temple hence no Levites so no tithe required. We have become that temple of the Holy Spirit as priests to our High Priest Jesus Christ our Mediator and Redeemer.

Something interesting that thisnhas just highlighted yo me. My former church really pushed the tithing and pushed for people to give sacrificially using the window and the two copper coins as an example to give beyond your means. The fact that tithing is an OT commandment that no longer applies, it reminded me of another commandment that is no longer practiced 'an eye for an eye'. My point is that if any church feels adamant that we MUST tithe because it is commanded by God, then should we not Obey ALL the commandments including this one and many others? Finally, what I find interesting is that, my old church would rebuke any of us of we either didn't give or we didn't give above the requirements because of this law. And yet there are si many other laws the DON'T follow. Funny how they hold on to the one about money but not the many many others that they dismiss as not relevant!

Great teaching, we should acknowledge those who labour faithfully in the true work of the lord, dont muzzle the ox that treads the corn, the labourer is worthy of his hire etc. But when the church gets an excess of money accrued and a power based on how much money they can expect from their congregation , then abuses of authority and position tend to occur. The " i have a vision to build a bigger church" syndrome comes into play so often. Mens plans , mens organisation, and you need to tithe for my vision to work. Or you dont have faith and are disobedient to GOD, creating a guilt trap for those who may not be fully convinced. Oh how many times have we seen this happen

I see it as one tithe,10% of all food for 6yrs out of a 7yr cycle. Brought to the temple (on years 1, 2, not 3, 4, 5 & 6) as it came in at the 2nd & 3rd festival (see 2 Chr 31:7) . Everyone ate from it and the Levites got what was left over and gave 10% of that to the priests. The 3rd year (once in the 7yr cycle) it was not taken to the temple but brought to the city where it was divided up among the Levites and the poor. The poor also get whatever grows in the 7th year.

Caleb, thanks for sharing. I agree that whoever wants to meet in a building it’s up to them if they want to support the finances of the church. I have seen some pastors who travel around the US preaching in auditoriums, stadiums, etc and sell tickets to cover the costs. Do you think that this model is more appropriate than asking for a tithe given that people already know they have to finance the pastor’s expenses or is it crazy to think that somebody would charge someone to go listen to the word of God? I was taught that we are not under the mosaic law but the Abrahamic covenant, one question would be, in that case are we not to abide by the 10 commandments as that was clearly under the mosaic law. In the new testament Jesus says, when He was asked, what is the greatest commandment, Jesus answered and said, Love the Lord your God with all your heart soul and mind, the second is like unto it, love your neighbor as yourself, on these two commandments hang all the law and the Prophets

Like last year my wife and I couldn't pay our water bill, the church paid it 4 us, so as long as its used in the correct way, I don't see anything wrong ya know

We don’t have to tithe the way they did in the OT. However, we live under Grace. So if they were required to give multiple 10 percents and also give firstfruits as well as offerings and be cursed if they didn’t, then I’m going to give graciously out of the abundance of my heart because I don’t live under the law. I live under Grace which is so much better so why wouldn’t I want to give. It’s called Grace Giving and you can never out give God.

👏🙌👏🙏🙏🙏♥️ If tithing was a new covenant requirement,... then all the poor people Christians I know from being a Christian for over 16years now should be rich. For I know personally some very poor Christians that practice tithing for years and to this day, they are still working poor people. Today, tithing is taught in Christianity as a scheme to get people to support their local church. "And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed: Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat. He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?" Christians love to say,"everything I own belongs to Jesus." yeah right! That is just talk. Imagine the Holy Spirit asking you (that is you that are well off), go and buy food for some poor people or for some orphanage and it totals 20,000 dollars USD. I am such you going to say," Get thee hence Satan. "🤣😂😅

God is the same yesterday, today and forever (Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8). The difference between the old covenant and new covenant is God wrote His commandments on stone for the old covenant and Jesus put His commandment in our hearts and mind in the new covenant (Hebrews 8:10). You are teaching error. God gives a blessing to those who tithe. "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation."

All these false prophets say that Abraham was rich and he tithed many times. That is the " logic " they use to take money from the innocent people. Don't fall for these traps , instead focus on Yahshuah. Sadly money and other materialistic things have taken place of Yahshuah , in our hearts and minds , at least most of the people. We treat him like a second-class person and that is why the Believers have tonnes of problems in life and we complain about Yahshuah not helping us. 2nd Timothy 11-13 KJV - 11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. " Blessed are the POOR , for theirs is the Kingdom of God. " Can you see rich over here ?? anyone ?? Do you know that even the Most Rich person came from a manger ? Born to a poor family and dwelt among the poor ? lived a poor life despite being the Almighty ? lived like a weakling even though he was the strongest and could calm the storms , give sight to the blind , walk on water , and save all the sons and daughters by going up on the cross ?? Yahshuah said - " I am the Lord of all flesh , is there anything too hard for me ?? " HE went against all odds. Condemn what is wrong , don't condone it.

But the Love of money is the root of all evil. Don't fool innocents to make some quick bucks. There seems to be a principle of giving. God gave His Son. Are we to emphasize the literal or the spherical. Spiritually speaking what are the principles to glean from scripture. Jesus magnified the old testament. If people know they sin it is because there is a law. There are consequences to learn from until we have completely lost the ability to be redeemed. There is new light for the times. There were the seven churches which is still relevant now and there were seven other dispensations in the old testament. There is also a lamp unto our feet. So God works individually and corporately. There is a lot to understand about what words mean. It will be great when someone can clearly explain why the language of the Bible confirms all the other descriptions in scriptures to open our understanding so that people see. Thank you for helping us to understand with a sound mind with balance; using the correct measure.

I disagree with your take on the feast. Wanting to be a messianic jew. Do you mean like our messiah? The feast aren't the feast of the jews they are the feast of YHVH. And also your statement that we're not under the law of Moses. Was it his law or YAH'S. So if I understand you correctly we're under grace to disobey the law. I wonder how that'll work out in the kingdom. Yeshua said if you love me keep my commandments John 14 vs 15

Not being a Hasidic Jew, the letter of the Law doesn't apply. The spirit/intent may. Application often was left up to the believer. As long as it was done for the right reason, honoring God. Question, does tithe always refer to 10% or to a portion of income. If portion then many Christians already fulfilling the requirement of tithing. My PET PEEVE is when televangelists disrespect people's offerings by running through it like a damn fool. Or guilt tripping the poor into giving their seed corn.

I’ve heard teaching that the Tree of Knowledge was a tithe and Adam and Eve were banished from the garden because they touched God’s tithe. BTW, I won’t be attending the women’s group that is watching ‘The Chosen’ but I did forward your critique to the leader. After watching those excerpts again I see no redeeming qualities but a distortion and mockery of the scriptures. I don’t think it’s bordering on blasphemy, it’s flat out blasphemous. It shows absolutely no awareness of Jewish culture. The two parts that made me gasp was Matthew was ‘autistic’ to the point of dysfunction ( did they not read his gospel? ) and Jesus returning after the arrest saying ‘I told you I would return ‘ as if He was referring simply to this not His resurrection or second coming. Thank you for your research.

Just that there is a silent agreement between the pastors and the congregants to continue doing anything that will enrich their pastor and put him in a position to compete with other pastors of class

You tried to tear down the large gathering of believers. How can one put one million people in His house for worship? The three thousand souls won in Act 2 used to come together in whose home? What were the believers doing in Solomon Porch in the Temple in the New Testament? Why were Peter and John going to the temple at the hour of prayer in Act 3? Believers meet in other places in the New Testament, not only in someone’s house. (In the book of Act) Also, you did not show the viewers the occupation of the Apostles. Why did the Lord Jesus ask Peter, "Do you love me more than these?" More than what, the people or his fishing skills, training, business? The time Apostle Paul was in full-time ministry, how did he survive? God loves a cheerful giver, so freewill offering is the will of God. You said everything here but did not care about the millions of poor people around the world who have no social security number or any form of welfare assistance but are helped by churches all around the world. The true church of Jesus Christ is providing for the needy in their number. You did not say the right things about tithing. 1. Jacob and his children were farmers, but you made it seem like some of them were doing other things, so only the farmers among them should bring tithes. 2. You mixed everything together. The priest who had no other occupation apart from the sanctuary should eat nothing in the year of the festival? (All the tithes are supposed to be shared with the Levites, strangers, the widow and the poor) The right teaching is this: The tithe is given to the Levites in their own environment. Levites don't come to you, you go to them. The needy, the widow, the strangers, and the poor are levites or of the Levites, dwelling in your land, not everyone in the street. (These are the Levites dwelling in your land or in Jerusalem). You eat with them to show that you are happy and that you are giving them freely according to the commandment of the Lord and also that it is not poisoned. These Levites give 1% to the priests. 22k or 23k Levites giving tithes of tithes to Aron and His two Sons? That was a lot. We should teach accountability in the church, not how to stop giving tithes, close down big church buildings if possible, stop freewill offerings, etc. The excellent thing is that whatever anyone gives, he will have his or her reward when the Lord comes. Those who preach that tithing is right should do so unto the Lord, not for carnality. If you have made up your mind to give your tithe, you should not stop giving it. Your giving in the church of God should be according to the revelation of Jesus Christ in you.

Can you answer this, in the New testament, when Jesus was asked, what is the greatest commandment, Jesus answered and said, Love the Lord your God with all your heart soul and mind and the second is like unto it, love your neighbor as yourself, on these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. Jesus also said, I came not to abolish the law but to fulfill it. Not one jot or tittle shall pass from this law til all is fulfilled. So why are we abiding by the 10 commandments as that is clearly under the mosaic law, you can't take one scripture and disregard the rest, the word of the Lord is the word of the Lord.

I suggest based on what I'm hearing you share about the O.T and the Mosaic Law that it would be easier or simpler under your understanding of the New Covenant to simply rip off the front end of the Bible and simply read the last of the 1/3 of the Bible or stick a National Geographic on the front end since the O.T seems to be simply history for you.

Actually, this video is wrong. Abraham is an excellent example of tithing before the Mosaic Law. So the next time I go chasing pagan raiders all night hundreds of miles with my team, and am met by Mechielzedek outside of Jerusalem, I'm giving a tithe. Except that I'm keeping all the rest of the stuff I recapture.

Yeah, that’s not what happened. Abraham did not own any of the goods. It belonged to the Kings of Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham returned it all to them except for 10% which went to the local King Priest. So I don’t see anything about tithing from your income here. Furthermore there are good sources that say this was the law of the land.

I respectfully disagree with the presenter of this video. We still owe God the tithe today. I agree that many preachers who have their own churches abuse the tithes, in fact, they get rich off the tithes from their congregations. They are what the Bible calls 'wolves in sheep clothes'. In organized churches, the tithes are still to be used to pay the pastors a salary, some for missions, for Dorcas (welfare) work, and so on. The pastors of these churches get a normal salary and do not get rich from these tithes. In fact, they do not handle the tithes as the main body of the church handles the tithe. We read this in 1 Corinthians 9:13-14. Jesus himself endorsed the tithing system. We can read this in Mat. 23:23. The stewardship of money involves God's claim upon our finances. Let us inquire "What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me" Psalm 116:12. Man is a steward over the things entrusted to him by God. The spirit of giving is the spirit of heaven. In Malachi 3: 10-11 a blessing is pronounced on those who are faithful in returning to God that which is His.
@iThinkBiblically

You need to engage with the arguments made in the video and not rehash the refuted argument. In Matthew 23:23 Jesus is speaking to Pharisees still living under the law. So, that's a really weak argument. Malachi 3:10 is speaking of the poor tithe. This is made clear by the reference to test God to see if he will not pour out a blessing. The poor tithe is the only tithe where a specific blessing is promised to the nation if the pay it. It was only for the poor and it was once every three years. But again it was for farmers only. 1 Corinthians 9:13-14 has nothing to do with tithing.
