Have a look at Geelong and the Surf Coast of Victoria. About an hour from Melbourne…via highway or the train. Loads of people move down there for more space for their money, or find jobs down there….surrounded by beaches and the famous surf beach Bells Beach, and the start of the Great Ocean Road.

My advise would be don't bother buying in the UK, save up as much as you can so you have a decent sized deposit for a house here. To save on certain mortgage fees and the need to take out mortgage insurance, the bigger the deposit the better.

My parents live in Ballajura! I used to live in Perth before I moved to Sydney. The best thing about it is that you can live somewhere decent within 30 mins drive from the city. The south of the river is usually a bit more expensive (and posh) than north of the river. Perth is great for families, it's a bit more laidback.

@@last_samurai6690 As a Perth native myself, I can assure readers that the north of the river has just as many posh and middle class and lower class places as the south... in fact the most posh suburbs of all are technically north of the river (Cottesloe, Peppermint Grove, Claremont, Dalkeith). Generally every part of Perth is fairly family friendly, including the less posh more affordable areas. Like anywhere there can be riff-raff, but there really isn't anywhere thats super unsafe.

We did find that unless you paid well for your property, you will be surrounded by rental properties. These can, not always, bring alot of social issues. Loud parties and neighbours, dogs barking night and day as kept in back yards all their days, etc. If a property appears cheap there is normally a good reason for it!!!! @@last_samurai6690 Armadale gets a bit of a bad rap, though the people that live there including my cousin have no issues. Historically Armadale, Kelmscott, Gosnells were terrible areas in the south along with Girraween, Balga and Koondoola in the north. It really depends on what your willing to tolerate and what kind of people you get along with. I'm not the most social and don't get along great with very bogan people (despite growing up in a very bogan area) so would personally avoid Armadale, Kwinana, Wellard, Gosnells, Meriwa, parts of Clarkson, parts of Girraween and Balga. BUT I also know plenty of people who live in those areas and love them. They are also the suburbs with the bigger blocks unless they have already been developed. So it can be worth tolerating for the 800m block and cashing in during the next property boom to subdivide.

Also.. New Zealand is ON FIRE 🔥 at the moment - a liveable house is close to 1 Million, everything costs and arm and a leg, income is ~ok~ , medical is either too expensive or slower than death. A lot of kiwis are moving to Australia as the system is a catastrophic failure here. Despite the mutual 'trans-tasman' benefits (actually Austrlians have more privilege under) and population difference, there's still 10x more kiwis in Australia then Australians in NZ. The new gen will never be able to settle like this. Planning the move to Brizzie (as working professionals)! Love it based off of your videos! Thanks for uploading.

For that price you are looking for a cheaper house in Adelaide, Darwin, Hobart or a regional centre. They can be great places to live but they are more isolated and when the economy falters jobs can be tricky to find for one partner and very difficult for two. Here that 'nice breeze' is called the Freo doctor. . . Comes in around 4-5pm and flushes away the summer heat for the evening. . . Our summers can get a bit intense (a few weeks of 45°C+) and it a MUCH drier heat than Brissy humidity. But it's a Mediterranean climate so our winters are awesome. Only rains like 4 weeks of the year. Plenty of night life, with all sorts of scenes. Can go to northies if you wanna get trashed and hookup or you could nip over to Freo and head to one of the millions of dive bars (I go squidding on the south mole then just take a 15 minute walk to one of the bars and just ask the chef to do up some calamari rings for something to nibble on whilst I pound vodka cokes lol). Joe's juice joint is a personal fav of mine and is voted one of the best dive bars in the world. . . Oh and no matter where you are you'll always be close to the beach, that's just a byproduct of living in Australia :D It's busy enough that you'll always be meeting new people, but chill enough that any variation of a wait time is basically nonexistent.
