The only thing I find troubling is that if the company ever goes out of business you have an expensive boat anchor. You have to send everything to the servers at Glowforge for the machine to work.

I can't even get through this. the camera is way too shaky and doesn't stay in place long enough for us to look at anything. It is so frustrating!

I paid the full price for Glowforge Pro and I finally got the confirmed delivery date would be around March 2017, which indeed is a long long wait, it might have a lot of break edge tech. come to the market with a better spec. even more powerful than Glowforge! I really amazed by Glowforge the first time I saw it on the Web. That's why I bought it. honestly, about 5000 USD include delivery is a cheap toy for me. If Glowforge really looking for someone to test your Beta version, people like us who already paid but disappointed from you on the delivery and service would be a better choice

Hahaha :) If this is a cheap crap to you for 5k why don't you buy a really good one for 50k with immediate shipping ? This is very-very expensive for a hobby laser cutter. But they have much better marketing than Chinese ebay guys, thats a fact. Look at this video. Then tell me please what CAN'T you create with this machine ? No such thing. Although 40W laser power is the same as the K40 machine on ebay for $450 not $6000. Unfortunately they don't tell any detailed specification about this machine. I would be interested what kind of laser tube they use. Most probably a Chinese cheap one, because the industry don't manufacture so low power small tubes. Only China, and only for ebay.

Good video. I'm considering a purchase of Glowforge, but my decision rests on being able to create one particular product - (to avoid the one issue of doing it with a CNC router: holding down the many small pieces of wood that I'm cutting) and yet still be able to make multiple pieces at once. The final deciding factor is finding out how many 1.5" square pieces of wood I can etch and then cut out / how long will it take to produce 1000 of them! Is there someone you can direct me that I can consult with on this? Thanks so much!

The way to do this on a laser is to engrave first, then cut the piece out. Then move to the next piece. The cutting area on the Glowforge Basic is 20"x12". I have seen some pretty complex cutting videos of the Glowforge in action and a complex cutting took about 15 minutes. If you had to do a whole sheet with engraving then maybe 30 minutes. It will difficult to answer on specifics until they are available for everyone to use. I have ordered one primarily to help produce RC models and for my son is who is very creative. search ebay for a 50W or a 60W CO2 laser cutter engraver, much faster, larer work surface and more powerful. Look for one with pass through door so you can insert larger pieces of material. This will save you a few thousand dollars.

Ok so what is the deal here... Starting to think this is never really going to happen. Am I missing a reason why they keep teasing the end of the discount and it just keeps being extended. Lucky for any of us that have not ordered it but it makes me rethink dropping 5 grand on something that just keeps getting pushed back. If there is some info I am missing please share it.

Kickstarter orders will hopefully get theirs in Dec 2016, everyone else by end Mar 2017... prices expected to go up again at some point, but who knows - I would guess Nov 2016 before they start shipping.
