Let the sparks fly!
The ancient art of Datiehua, or “Beat the iron flowers,” is a spectacular firework performance in Queshan, Henan Province, with a history of more than a thousand years. It is shown by performers throwing molten iron against cold bricks to create showers of sparks.
Datiehua marks the start and the celebration of the New Year in China. It has been classified as one of China's significant examples of intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
This stunning performance was broadcast through “Lightchasers 2022” New Year Livestream on WeChat channels and more than 10 million audience watched this spectacle together on the first day of 2022.
