@@z6877 yes and no. It doesn't bother me at all anymore. That being saif, if I workout really hard for a week I can feel it sometimes start to creep back.. But the exercise definitely does help I probably need to do it again it's been a while...

This describes a nagging BJJ injury I've been dealing with for months. Thought it healed during the quarantine, but I rolled yesterday and it's back. Gonna plug these exercises into my program. Thanks man!

Im going trough this right now. I was put in a stand up de la riva position. And I fucked up lost my balance and did the splits pretty bad. The next day the pain started. Did you get your situation resolved ???

When I had this injury it was at least 3 months before I could do anything at all with my core. And even then the chance of re-injury was a worrying possibility. See a physio?

can someone reply to this? what would you recommend next? My hernia developed possibly due to a ruptured sternal. It was ruptured 8 months before I was given the surgery required. I still believe it was because I could only sleep on my right side that bunched the muscles up along with excessive sitting, the combo of both severely knotted up my right hip(sports hernia). To date, before I found this program or even injury name I had gone through 8 medical pros, I would only be concerned with hospital experts as opposed to the PHYsios as you can imagine. As for rehab programs man-hours, it took 800-1000 man-hours of rehab for the sternal repair, I have spent thousands of hours, THOUSANDS of hours trying to fix the sports hernia that I never knew I had. I will document the hip knotted up for experts with imaging and a bulge in the region on both sides that I assumed was an inguinal canal issue but they differ. Finally, I am seeing a massive cosmetic change, it is quite painful. I started the initial program in 2017, it led to a severe injury in my spine that hospitalized me because one of the programs I was told to do by a hospital was not to address my issue. So, I ask what would I need to address next, is there a core program next to make sure I am fully functioning by the end of 2022, that is my goal, can you link one?

Sorry to hear that man, I think you might need surgery but it doesnt always work. In my case i just had surgery recently for the second time and i feel worse.

An inguinal hernia is a different type of injury which should be managed slightly different. Although these exercises may help stabilize the area around the inguinal hernia you will want to contact your local PT to develop a specific program to address the specific. This is especially important if you are trying to return to a high level of sport. -Dr. Matt

@@STACK can a sports hernia lead to an inguinal hernia? My trainer at the gym is afraid that this will happen to me because now I have a sports hernia and I'm a weightlifter... She doesn't want me using a barbell to squat right now. She thinks it can tear open more. Is that even possible? I'm doing PT for a month now...

Thank you so much for the information! Quick question - I’ve been battling a sports hernia for the past 7 months now. When trying to do these exercises, there’s a good bit of pain I’m experiencing. Should I push through or just meet with a surgeon if even these exercises are painful? Let me know your thoughts; thank you again!

I think the exercised are for rehab (after surgery) so if you have it maybe go to a doctor for surgery first.

Just saw a surgeon who diagnosed me with a sports hernia. He does not recommend surgery for sports hernias, he told me to push through the pain and one day it’ll subside.

Any exercise or stretch to know if it is sport hernia, groin, or labral problem? My teen soccer player has groin pain when kicking ball only and doctor not sure yet what problem is.

Yes , I have a sports hernia , and anytime when I tear it I feel it all the way down through my balls , it's normal

Actually I have sports hernia and seems to have a tear on pubic bone as it pains at some points of movements what to do and how much time does it take to recover and I am a hammer thrower athlete age 16

Always train to the point of pain but never train through the pain. I instruct my patient that their pain should never exceed 2-3/10 on the pain scale during rehab. Depending on the severity of the tear this injury could take anywhere from 4 to 24 weeks to heal and in rare occasions even longer. I would recommend consulting with you local PT or sports medicine physician for specific instructions. Each of these injuries should be managed on an individual basis. -Dr. Matt

It’s your iliopsoas muscles, try PRI techniques that will solve the problem from the root cause

Why not rest it for a while? Thai Chi is excellent for learning how to 'deactivate' and relax your core.
