Dr. Fung, you likely greatly extended my life possibly even saved my life. 9 months ago, I had no idea what Diabetes truly was I was treating the symptoms and even though I thought I was doing well after two years of "treatment" I got my highest A1C ever 11.8. I was crushed I found your channel and you helped me understand insulin resistance and the tragic short comings of my Doctors and the knowledge the provided me. I began to treat my insulin resistance with a low carb high fat diet, intermittent fasting and some prolonged fasts . I was able to stop injecting myself with insulin almost immediately, within four months without medication my A1c was down to 6.8 and now I'm a 5.5. I have lost 90 lbs in 8 months and I feel like I am in control of my life again. Thank you for taking the time to explain this to the world. My wife and Children thank you

@got_logic1320

Actually, no. Fung's interpretation of physiology and biochemistry is absolute trash. It's just that cutting out carbs and IF happens to produce a net energy deficit so people will lose weight, and thereby reverse health problems associated with being overweight. So It's great that people have lost weight due to his videos... but it's not for the primary reasons he's preaching. Anyone who has actually studied biochemistry and physiology will know the he's cherry picking information to push his narrative, which is to demonize carbs and sell his products. Take everything he says with a grain of salt. If people are actually interested in learning about Physiology and BioChemistry, pick up books... not listen to youtube as your primary source of information. If Keto and IF works for you, fantastic. Keep it up. But he is not providing accurate education on the subject of Physiology. There is NOTHING wrong with Carbs for the average person who doesn't have medical conditions relating to insulin resistance.

@got_logic1320
@got_logic1320 Жыл бұрын
@@nickplaysmyteam8394 It's all relative. There is no One-Model-Fits-All. Someone with specific medical issues to insulin resistance would benefit from controlled intake of carbs. A bodybuilder/athlete or active person shouldn't have any issues with carbs when they're that active. An overweight person trying to lose weight would need to watch the amount of anything they eat, not just carbs, if the intention is to lose weight. A famished North Korean citizen who might have more access to cheap carb sources (like rice) won't need to watch what they eat, they just need to eat. There is no innate problem with carbs for a relatively healthy person, with no issues to insulin or any kind of other allergic reactions to specific carb sources. But just like Everything, just don't overdo it. You can die from drinking too much water, so it's all relative. And just to throw it out there, because there's so much misconception... Carbs by itself does not make a healthy person diabetic. There are other factors that contribute to Type 2 diabetes.

@@got_logic1320 I think ur completely missing the point. Dr. Fung isn't 'demonizing' anything. He's not claiming healthy active people will develop insulin resistance/Type II diabetes from carbohydrate consumption. He addresses how patients can reverse Type II diabetes naturally thru: 1. Elimination/reduction of excess sugars, high carbohydrate, processed n fast foods that elevate serum insulin levels leading to chronic insulin resistance 2. Intermittent fasting - one meal a day (OMAD) as a natural n safe way to use fat stores for energy, lowering serum insulin levels reversing chronic insulin resistance 3. Maintain a low carb diet higher in natural fats and proteins from whole unprocessed foods n exercise for healthy lifestyle The results speak for themselves. His years of clinical research, data, n physiological biochemical mechanism of insulin resistance is very sound - this coming from a Biochemist/Cell Biologist myself. Read his books and/or see some of his longer form presentations on his clinical research. He explains in clear detail the physiological pathways for obesity/insulin resistance and how to naturally reverse those pathologies.

Hi Tom, I came across to Dr. Fung 1st time in my life on 1st of June 2020, after my HBA1C reached over 100 first time on 31st of May 2020 (104 to be exact). When my normal doctors in the UK told me that its heavy duty T2 now and it is only progressive from here... first we manage you via Metformin and if things got worsen you will be on Insulin. I was also 120 kgs weight at that point. Then I researched about T2 on internet and thank God I came across to Father on the subject on the very 1st day of internet research.... it was no other than the GREAT DR JASON FUNG saying in one of his videos that it is totally reversable condition... that even made my wife a laugh... I said to her o.k. at least let me try.... I started strict and disciplined Intermettent Fasting from 1st of June 2020. Started with 14 hours fast with 10 hours of eating window during 1st 10 days. No carb eating in 10 hours... and strictly no sugar and no soda or juices. Only whole fruit, any kind of meat (beef, chicken or lamb / mutton but no pork). A lot of salad with mix of vegetables. And 5km walking on daily basis (roughly taking me 1 hr in walk). After 10 days I increased it to 16 hr to 8 hrs. With 5km walk continues daily. Next 10 days (21 June to 30 June); 18 hr to 6 hr pattern. With 5km walk continue. 1st July to 15 July .... 20 Hr to 4 Hr pattern. With 5km walk continue. 16th July to 31st July back to 18hr to 6 hr window. In August it was alternative days of 18 to 6 hrs of fasting and OMAD (one meal a day... (i.e., 24 hrs Intermettent Fasting). In August 15 days of OMAD and remaining 15 days of 18 to 6. All 90 days kept walking 5km a day minimum... sometimes 6 to 7km. In all 90 days no sugar, no soda, no bread, no rice.... a lots of meat... a lots of stakes... a lots of salad... a lots of whole fruits... all kinds.... occasionally couple of dates for my sweet tooth. And on 1st of Sept when I tested my HBA1C it was 35. My GP in UK was on his toes as he couldn't believe it and started asking me what I have done.... you know what I said to him (in my heart).... Go idiot... park your old school approach and books which have thought you to tell your patients that it is a progressive decease and there is no long term cure. Go and listen to the GOD on the subject... the greatest of all... THE DR JASON FUNG.... and he will tell you that some medical books needs rewriting. If someone treats you with medication (tablets or injections)... to me that is not medicine (i.e. medical practice or knowleadge). However, if someone treats you and makes you perfectly healthy without giving you medication but by only making you understand the basic physiology of the body... NOW THAT IS MEDICINE.

I couldn't thank this doctor more. When all the texts claimed there are no "cure" for diabetics but high dises of insulin shots, his recommendation of intermittent fasting and low carb diet gave me a ray of hope. My vision was blurry, excessive sweating, hangry that never subsided, neuropathy in my hand and feet and degrading cognitive quality. By following intermittent fasting with no snacking and mild cardio, I could already witness the improvement with my TG going down, losing all the belly fat, my energy levels going up and my mid meal hunger going down. His theory on insulin and insulin resistance was an eye opener for me, and changed the way i eat. Adding little more effort like weight training and long fasting i managed to bring down my a1c from 11.9 to 5.5 in 3 months. My fasting too went down from 291 to 110s. Insulin levels too look fine. Looking forward to continue the effort bring the levels further down to 90s. If you're a newly diagnosed with t2 or have just got tired with the standard procedure care, do yourself some favour and listen to this man. Come out of High CarbHigh-Insulin-High Blood Glucose circle lf death. You will never be able to improve with drugs. Dietary carb restriction, mild excercise and fasting are the only tools you've got. Dr Fung, you have no idea how you're transforming lives of thousands. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Like Dr. Fung, I am a “why” person. I believe there is a reason for everything. I need to know the why. I also believe that what I know this moment could be completely wrong. To me, knowledge is based on the best factual information in my possession. Fifty years ago I tried to tell my doctor I was experiencing massive blood glucose excursions caused by hyper insulin secretion. He (tried to) told me there is no such thing, that type 2 diabetes only affects old people. Over the past few years I have connected most of the dots. But after reading The Diabetes Code, I finally have the answers I have long been seeking. Most important, Dr. Fung has given me HOPE. I am at a loss for words to thank Dr. Fung. Many thanks for enlightening with general, fundamental issues explaining important common problems! I knew what I.R. was, but I have not been aware, that it was a quite natural reaction of a body.

Very strong logical argument. Bravo 👏 & unique and original thinking that is correctly laid out to make the case. Well done. Thank you for saving my life from living hell as I age into my early geriatric years, turning 52 soon. But I'll be turning 52 years younger then I was at 51, no joke. Doing taekwondo x3 yrs & won my first match. Joining my TKD school's sparring division. INCIDENTLY, this serves as my HIIT. I'm 3 years into this... Low carb - omnivore - with high plant food ( leafy greens and EVO) & aiming to get my ideal body wt of daily protein, 155 grams (tough to do) - Grocery store eater. Never going back to S.A.D. eating. Learning to eat only during the day light hours, circadian rhythm. Proper sleep too but I work nights, tough one. And zone 2 jogging. 🙌🙏🤜🤛❤️

When I hear a commercial for a diabetes drug with a catchy jingle that explains: "Because your pancreas can still make insulin, it just needs some help to make more..." I want to throw things at the TV.

You are fantastic in your way to explain! Thank you ever so much! As I now focus on Hyperinsulemia I can not wait to start solving that. And I feel as if I am on the right side. Me and my body will do everything we can to lower insulin. Thank you and please continue!❤ I am learning so much! I now have hope thanks to you. I can do something. My doktor has mostly scared me because the blodsugar is slowly but consistent increasing. I can not thank you enough and I will tell friends to listen to you. 🌿🌷🌿

It's not rocket science. You just have to have self control and not fill your face with sugar, carbs, all processed foods and sugary drinks. Do some intermittent fasting for 24-26 hours once a week and some HIIT. The weight will literally fall off you.

I recommend that everyone in this thread read The Diabetes Code. It was THE game changer for me. THE diabetes ‘problem’ is insulin resistance caused by hyperinsulemia caused by consumption of sugar especially high fructose corn syrup and seed oils.
