Pop up headlights: move the hinge to the front and use them as active aero when braking :)

I like this solely because it's unique. Implementation may not provide a massive benefit, but it would be a conversation piece nonetheless. Even if it was a airdump down through the hood into whatever bottom aero he's planning, could be quite cool.

Look its an amusing idea but doesn't fit the super minimalist design + weight saving. Active aero usually has serious weight penalty. Marketing departments love then tho

I was thinking pop-up air scoops for extra front brake cooling, engine cooling or air flow into the interior of the car.

Great update and thank you for taking the time to read all the comments and address the questions. I definitely think the modern style reverse cantilever mirrors used on cars like the 488 GT3 and LeMans GT3 Pro Porsche's will fit this car perfectly. That said with the car getting painted you will compromise yourself a lot to use the current mirror bases. Just weld up the existing holes and make new ones. It will save you a ton of work and give you all the flexibility in the world to get the mirrors just right.

- The Honda Indy Yellow Pearl would've been my pick too, partially in line with remembrance/honor of Senna. - The pop-ups I woulda made do a slim reveal instead of full pop up with LED. They just look too good at night like that too me. I'd also have driving lights added lower with covers for the option to keep the pop ups down during track time. *why choose 1 option?* - ....and plz cage it bud if it's track build.... plz. plz. - As for oil.... I actually avoid Pennzoil, I've had bad experiences in the past across multiple platforms with it. Mobil 1 has been my go to for 95% of usage. For track usage with the intention of teardown and inspection regiment I use a combination of Red Line and Royal Purple (can't let these ones sit in the engine)
@frankthetankricard
@frankthetankricard 2 жыл бұрын
I agree, the partial pop ups would be killer. Make them functional so they'd only go up at night, keep them hidden on track. Best of both worlds. Additional lights in the front grill are going to look like an afterthought.
@lb37127
@lb37127 2 жыл бұрын
Either that or something like the non pop-up headlight kits on the corvette c5rs. To each their own, but I think it would be a disservice to not use the oem headlight locations for something functional.

@@frankthetankricard Yeah.... LED bars in them & have the head lights only pop-up a couple inches would keep the old school, pop-up coolness factor but create less wind drag than the originals.

Have you considered swing out/removable side impact bars for the roll structure? They're more complicated to design and build, sure, but they could brace the chassis more than a 4-point while still maintaining better ease of access. Depending on execution, you could even connect it to the front firewall for an 8+ point configuration.

Glad you take a positive approach to questions, comments and suggestions. Some KZfaqrs just take everything as a personal attack which is crazy, it alienates the viewers and you miss out on a wealth of knowledge and a diversity of thinking and experience. Embrace it and everyone wins. Just ignore the overly negative comments and move on. Perfect.

For the mirrors: I really like what Button Built did with his 328, using 458 GT3 style mirrors adds that modern touch and keeps it in the Ferrari lineage. The evasive mirrors look great as well, and they almost resemble a more blocky version of the GT3 mirrors, which fits the car really well. And of course because it’s a time attack car, craft square style mirrors are absolutely in the style.

Hi Mike. As someone who started watching recently, I initially thought this was one of these "yO, K-sWaP tHe wOrLd" builds with an Alex Choi flavour with all the aero, but I was enjoying your engineering perspective. Man, am I glad I was wrong. To know it's a TA car, all I can say is thankyou for restoring my faith in good ol' North American engineering and good luck, I really hope you rip people's hearts out with the 244GTK (absolutely love the name, kept the Ferrari mantra 😁) on the track when completed. 👍

The thought that went into the 244GTK name and rationale, is the same syllogistic process you use for decision on the build and fabrication. Love this channel and build and is an example of what KZfaqrs should ascribe to provide. This channel should have way more followers due to the content. Presentation, information. Almost sad the build is nearing completion. I hope there will be a follow up on the channel with the car in action. Keep it up Mike. Awesome stuff

Your logic with the pop ups is kinda funny. Can relate to finding pop ups ugly when they're up... But at least you'll be able to see over the crest of the hill you're driving over at night!! Maybe a low pop with LEDs just for 'high beam'? That way it's truly never a problem aesthetically until it's a solution practically? Regardless, this is top 3 all time build for me Mike, massive respect.

I am a race car driver building my own race car, I know how long it has taken me to build it and I miss being on the track more than anything so please promise me you will race this car and develop this car on your show, a true race car is not a show car per-say although I have seen some nicely prepared race cars, Amir Bentatou being one of them, Id love to see you guys out there together. I love the color choice and pretty much all your build concepts so this is just a suggestion, because of the K motor have a look at the spoon FD2 side mirrors, also because you and are building all the time I suggest as much seat time as you can get including sim racing it all helps
