This is good to know. I am due to deliver in a couple weeks and my baby has been wonderfully health so far. I'll keep an eye on anyone who tries to tell me that my baby suddenly needs to go to NICU. Not that it couldn't be for real because anything's possible, but still nice to have in mind. I like to have a healthy amount of skepticism but NICU isn't where I would have thought a hospital to try to squeeze numbers.

Return without a receipt for store credit to another store, with the clearance tag removed, and then sell the gift card. You just made $650 bucks in an afternoon. OR Take a $400 shirt and a $70 dollar shirt into the changing room and swap the tags. Now you made your $650 bucks feel like $3600. NOT encouraging this and retailers are starting to put names on gift cards, but return fraud and tag frauds are still rampant. The ones that get caught are the greedy people who do it too often or those who select too noticeable or expensive an item that someone happens to know the price of in their head/know that it should be more expensive. Please also note that swapping a tag is indeed, illegal. Moral: Just don’t steal. Eventually you’ll get caught and it’s just not worth it.

Worked at a hospital for awhile (in research, but most of my co-workers were MDs) and this wasn’t exactly true, at least at this hospital. How it would go: Anesthesiologist was expected to work maybe 8 hours/day, right? And in that 8 hours, he would be scheduled for X number of surgeries. He was paid a (sizable) percentage of the insurance company’s agreed upon fee for the anesthetic service. But if he did more surgeries in a day or worked more than 40 hours a week, he would get, say 1.3x or 1.4x of his base salary. Surgeons had a similar system, except it was more dependent upon number of patients they saw. I used to know a surgeon who could do a total hip replacement in 30 minutes (of actually being in the room). They then have a resident take care of suturing and such while they more on to the next patient.. He made a lot of money... Even as far as surgeons go.

American Apparel did a lot of prejudicial stuff. If they thought a potential customer was not good looking enough to wear their clothing, they would try to discourage the person from buying anything they sold. They didn't just qualify who their employees should look like but they did it to all the customers as well.

Had a similar experience at a hardware store that is actually pretty famous in my country (GAMMA, Belgium). Apparently it was one of the best ones in the province, but my boss was also very keen on making people use their customer cards, and if they didn't have one then either look them up or make sure they would get one, even if it was very crowded and there were long queues at the register. I sometimes had customers yelling at me for being so stubborn about something so trivial as a card but every time I didn't ask a customer she'd ask me why. Foreign customers were treated badly on purpose, as the store manager only catered to white people. She'd even make remarks when they left. The tools on display, like snow blowers, lawnmowers, etc. would not be sold with a discount when new models arrived but were simply thrown out in containers and registered as damaged upon arrival. Everything had to be done really fast because we were understaffed and because I was the new guy I basically got all the shit thrown at me. Our uniforms weren't fit to wear scanners, yet we were required to have one at all times so after a while I developed bruises on my legs. We had to wear t-shirts, had no working gloves and no masks for the sawing facility, so anyone who had to saw panels would just be breathing sawdust the entire time. I always declined doing this bc I have asthma, my colleagues would make fun of me for that and treated it like an excuse to not do any heavy work, still I would stock beams of wood and even from that I got occasional splinters, cuts and bruises. After a while I complained to her that things were simply not safe and very well thought out and every time she complained I didn't finish anything I just told her she didn't give anyone any time to do it the way she told us to do it, so it was either doing it poorly or just half-assing it. She went on a rage and told me I'm a spoiled brat who doesn't know what hard work means. That even goes without mentioning the one time we had a pigeon flying around inside the store. She gave one of our employees the task to get rid of it immediately and she didn't mean "catch it, put it back outside". No, she just wanted it to get killed and was visibly enjoying the creature getting hurt by random sticks thrown at it rather violently. Luckily one of my colleagues started his shift and was tall enough to reach it with a ladder and just grabbed it and put it outside. I told her she was out of her mind and I would file a complaint with animal services. I also briefed my syndicate about it and all the other stuff I mentioned above. I was fired very briefly after that. Because Belgium is a country with endless bureaucratic loopholes I managed to get out of there with a week of sick leave and an extra month of payment, despite the fact I was supposed to go back and work for another week. Apparently some of my colleagues quit after that. Our spots are still vacant. This happened over a year ago. I'm still smiling. Fuck you, you anal bitch. Fuck you very, very, much.

No matter how fast you may have paid it off, this is generally a bad practice if done often as credit account length is highly favoured and hard inquiries (applying for anything) will make your score take some sort of hit. My parents owned a bar and the did keep a lot of genres of music out of their jukebox because they found it made crowds more aggressive and they had zero tolerance for fighting in their bar, so they did what they could to minimize the risk of fights. They also didn't sell certain alcohols for the same reason. The end result was very few fights and no one being shot. One person did shoot up one time to settle the crowd, which was a bad choice since it was by my dad's ear and there were occupied apartments above the bar. Fortunately no one was hurt. And then the occasional breaking of bathroom doors to stop people from doing crack or boinking in the bathroom.

I'm a nurse. Registered nurse. And yup same goes for hospitals. Have too few staff. And then expect everyone to work twice as hard. Which is why wait times are so long at hospitals.

I've been working at office depot for a few months and there tend to be 4-6 people at a time. That is very much not enough when one person is in the back working on managment and 3 need to be in certain areas. Today we only had 4 for about 5 hours and it was hell. The girl at printing was overwhelmed as she was deal with 3 people at a time, the manager had to stop managing to help her, the floor person had to double as tech plus come help me at register if there were more than 3 people in line. Also as register I have to check people out, greet and assist them, place items back out on the floor answer phones and do several closing duties. I cant got to the back of store due to store policy which is where a lot of stuff and duties are, I end up passing it to floor people a lot so we aren't stuck to long after closing. Oh and we have to listen to customers telling us phone and item numbers while also listening to a radio. Literally 2 more people would solve this, maybe even one. But right we had one guy work from opening to closing with one 15 minute break cause no one else trained in using the printer was available and a bunch of us get scheduled just under 6 hours so we cant ask for break. Edit: office depot is now trying to fix the issue of printing being over run by training others on the floor and doing things to use printing..... hire more people God dammit.

Yeah, I did bakery work for years. Sometimes corporate would get a bug up their ass about us having a "scratch" product, which meant we'd get buckets of pre-made batter to pour in pans to bake. We could custom flavor it, though, with the bags of pre-made fruit filling.

I worked in a car parts factory. We made oil pans for Ford f250 desiel scorpion (this was my cell, I eventually worked my way up to assistant cell lead/overtime cell lead), bell housing for chevy, chassis for corvette, cyclinder heads for Hyundai which were in two sizes but if I remember the bigger ones were made for the Chrysler - Seabring, jeep, some kind of housing for hybrid city busses and a couple other things. I really did love the job and if I had it to do again I'd have gone to school for engineering or specialized in robotics and gone to the program for Fanuc robots Damn those big bitches were majestic. Anyway, I digress. In case you're curious I'm in nursing now lol. It would blow your mind if you knew the specs and imperfections they allow in a lot of these parts. You'd think if you're paying $50-70 thousand for a truck they'd want it to be bomb proof. That's not the case. On the sealing face of the oil pans you were allowed something like a 2mm(about as big around as the tip of a fresh new crayon) wide and deep porosity hole or an impression, gouge, or gash that was 5mm long as long as it wasn't deeper than 0.5mm, the bolt holes that hold the whole mother fucker on the truck, yeah as long as the first 5 threads are clean and clear it's good to go. If certain castings had flash on them do you think we sent them back or someone came and safely removed it with a grinder? Nope, when I was in final inspection/packing I used to knock it off with a rod I found that I'm pretty sure fell off of some other piece of machinery and the fat handle of a big screw driver. Incase you didn't know freshly machined/milled aluminium is sharp as Fuck and I can't count the times I sliced off knuckles or got a metal splinter the size of a toothpick in a finger. So a lot of these parts truly had my blood, sweat, and tears. It's kinda fucked up considering the money people pay for these vehicles. All in all though I learned a lot working there and it gave me the means to buy myself my own little house. So, if you own a Ford f240 super duty diesel with the scorpion engine take a look and if the Julian date is between 2011 and 2013 with a big blue 832 in sharpie or stamped 11 that was me. I inspected and packed that heavy bastard with tender loving care, you're welcome 😂😂

Dognryes, I also work in the automovtive industry. The stuff we pass that are "out of spec" is insane. The best part is when we have to correct the engineers on their own parts. Yea, I know you have a degree, but a 2d/3d drawing/rendering is not the same as a physical part made of metal/plastic.

King Aria I worked there and that’s actually how they all do it. There’s a hand-washing alarm that sounds on a set schedule and every person has a specific station- an assembler that only handles the toppings, and one that puts the meat on with tongs (one pair for beef, one for chicken, one for filet-o-fish). Sometimes there was a dedicated bun toaster. As long as they’re not touching the meat, it’s better than someone wearing one pair of gloves all shift and touching everything, thinking that gloves are magic.

But yeah I’ve gotten food poisoning from their grilled chicken lol

Depending on what award you are on they can just not roster you. Do that for enough weeks and the employee doesn't complain then you can terminate them for job abandonment.
