Bear Spray. I just bought two cannisters at REI Santa Cruz. The Woke sales Rep. shouting..."This is the guy who is Buying the Bear Spray!!!!" To everyone. Lecturing me.. "We can sell it to you, but you can't use it in California" . I'll use it as I see fit. Going on a camping/fishing trip next week for four days near the area where the first recorded Black Bear human fatality in California just recently happened.

Wife and I just drove from lacombe Alberta to the Yukon boarder over to liard hotsprings had to take the same route you did due to the fire we packed the gladiator with a cooler a propane flat grill our camping hammocks and a hammock hot tent with a lil Woodstove a shotgun a 22 and sleeping bags 😊.. had best trip as we had several hundred kilometers of the Alaska hwy to ourselves and not having our lil offgrid trailer it was easy to explore any side trails or roads. 😮

We enjoy our Le Croix-type sparkling water and kept a couple dozen in an oversized milkcrate. We had some casualties, burst cans. Those are carbonated, and some of them burst on us, presumably from bouncing around (not from overheating). We're not high speed desert racers, we creep and crawl nice and easy. Thinking of splitting them up into leftover bubble wrap, then storing in a crate.

@davidk6668
@davidk6668 11 күн бұрын
@@AceInvader it’s not the rating of the frame and suspension that would be in question. The Pentastar V6 is lacking power unless you run at high rpm. Anything past 3000 for extended periods is hard on the engine. Even though the Gladiator is regeared it would be nice to know what rpm is needed to maintain 65, 70 mph. I have a 2015 JK 2 door 4.56 gears and pull a 1400 lb teardrop and when going across Wyoming on I80 that is constantly up hill even though it doesn’t look like it my tranny goes back and forth between 4 and 5th gear mostly in 4th but my rpms were 3000 or greater especially in 4th at 65. So when he is hauling way more weight with the same engine I’m interested in what the performance really is. I solved my problem with supercharge. Totally different beast now.

Word of caution regarding the fuel cans. If they are Wavian cans, I have experienced leaks from two of them that were strapped down in Wavian can holders in the back of my pickup. Over time both of them developed leaks around the stiffening impressions on the sides of the can. The leaks occurred in areas that were NOT contacting the holders, so it was not a rubbing issue, but rather a metal fatigue issue at a stress point in the steel pressing on the side of the can. PLEASE keep a watch on this. BTW - Wavian was not particularly interested in making good on these cans, as I contacted them about a month after their warranty expired. I'll let you draw your own conclusions about that. I'm really interested in watching all of your segments on this trip. As always, thanks for sharing, and BE SAFE! Steve

You crush a water bottle & screw the cap back on. It takes up less space than a can .

I can get a can flatter than a water bottle ever time. Aluminum is also 100% recyclable... plastic is not.

How did you refill the water tank on the X3 - fresh water filter?

I stopped from time to time and grabbed a couple gallons of water. We were able to pay $10 to fill our tanks at and RV site in Dawson City

Hey Brad thanks for the tour! As a fellow Gladiator owner I am wondering about how much that trailer weighs and how the Jeep is doing towing the trailer.......Thanks in advance!

The trailer is around 3000 loaded and with the 4.88 gears the Gladiator handles it well.

Thanks Brad for that information that’s good to know! I’ve certainly been impressed with my 3.6 gas engine with the ZF 8 speed drive train. I’m still running the 33’s with 4:10’s……I never realized how truly great the Jeeps are to actually drive before I bought mine, now 3+ years later with no major problems. Thanks Brad! Traveling Mercies to you! Max

Awesome set up. How much of that food did they make you through out at the boarder??? I know that they can be stingy going in either direction.

They didn't make me clean anything out... curious if they will when I get back into the U.S.

So with pulling the trailer and the Gladdy, somewhat, loaded down.... Are you still happy with the size of gears you went with?

Brad, On my recent Utah trip, my 10 year old GoPro decided to die five minutes into it. Do you have a recommendation on a good replacement that will be dash mounted?

I have a love / hate relationship with GoPros, but it's still what I use. I've heard some good things about the DJI action camera, but haven't made the change.
