(Pumpkin hanging place.)
Long ago the Seminoles planted a type of pumpkin at the base of trees and trained them to grow upward. This was a source of food and kept for almost a year. They were sweet and could be cooked much like squash.

THINGS TO KNOW:
There is a fee. $3 per person.
It is a WMA- so there is hunting.
It’s an easy drive - car friendly.
One way in and one way out.
There are snakes.
Stay on the names and numbered roads.
NEAR BY:
Weeki Wachee springs.
Places to fish.
Places to swim or dive if cave certified.
Plenty of restaurants.
Kayaking the Chaz river to the North.
Not too far from Citrus.
THOUGHTS:
Go early or later you will see more wildlife.
This was so easy we never even put it in 4wheel drive. It’s a bit of a drive from Orlando, but you can make a day of it by visiting other springs in the area. Take a hike to Buford Springs.
