the UPS one sounded like the boss was expecting the employee to panic and sign the check themself so the boss wouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket/from the store's accounts, so it sounds like OP dodged a bullet by being fired

Story 16: the manager of that business sounds like a complete nut-job. Why would you just fire someone simply for saying he liked the job? That makes absolutely no sense.

Most probably the business had a policy that if an employee is able to stay on past X amount of days, then they get some benefits as a "confirmed" staff. When this a*hole manager found out that employee liked the job (and thus would stay long-term), he fired that employee so that he/she couldn't enjoy said employment benefits.

Story number 2 is entirely that employee's fault and i am sorry it happened to the guy because getting fired sucks. He should have called the manager about that issue and say hey the amount is blank and you didnt sign it? What should we do? That was literally an easy fix. He forged a signature and gave an amount that could cause a bookkeeping error down the line. It was just not a good move. 😕 He could have also verified the check before leaving but if that person was in a rush, it would easily have been overlooked.

Yeah but the boss also could have just given a warning as he said back in 1977 and that boss was really as much at fault as the guy that wrote his name on it
