Oi G'day.
James here and this time I'm in one of the best cities on earth: Adelaide, Australia! I figured since there have been people that liked the other series of "What people think" videos that I made, I wanted to make another one in Australia. If you're watching this video, don't take it too seriously, but this is the internet so surely someone is going to get upset. Anyway, thanks to all the Australian folk who ended up doing the video! I really appreciate it. If you want to skip around to the questions here they are:
0:00 intro
0:49 "Have you ever been to America?"
1:18 "What are your general thoughts?"
3:32 "What do you think about Americans?"
5:36 "Something you like about America?"
7:11 "Something you DON'T like about America?"
8:52 "Can you do an American accent?"
10:18 “outro”
Welp, that's it for me. Thanks for watching!
Now I'm gonna go grab some Vegemite and spread it on some toast. Don't judge me.
it's good.

Absolutely. I have a feeling the one girl went to New York possibly. She had plenty of negative things to say like homeless people, attitudes, busy and not safe. The first thing that came to mind was NY. Even though I even going once in awhile. Most of America doesn't look or feel like that though. They gotta visit the country side.

@@johnwilsonjr.3906 I think you’ve confused what he’s said. EVERYONE has an accent. Literally everyone in the world. Even Siri, or robotic voices, are English accents (just for reference British accent doesn’t exist). Americans simply cannot hear their accents, but other people will DEFINITELY hear them. American accents stick out like a sore thumb in other countries, they’re very noticeable. If I had to pick the most “neutral” accent (still noticeable but a somewhat blend) it would be Canada, more specifically British Columbia. Because it had British settlers since it was a dominion, who lived next to the USA, and their accents fall a little bit in between. The only countries missing are Australia/New Zealand. Like sometimes when I hear people from British Columbia, I can definitely tell they aren’t American or English, but I also notice how strangely attributable they are to both.

HA YES. I'm telling you the Midwest is just "Default English". It's normal to me, but I'm sure if I go to Brooklyn or Britain I'll get comments on it. It's different to others, but it seems "right" and normal to the people of the midwest.

People who speak Pennsylvania Dutch can usually communicate with them better than the average person because they are closely related languages.

TOO funny!! And, yeah, I can NOW do a PERFECT Aussie accent. I did enjoy the American accents THE Aussies did here,TOO. Especially, the North Carolina one. Since I used to live in New York City, I can do a NYC accent that'd probably blow most Aussies' minds!!!! " Hey, how YOU doin'?! "😀 PS We don't have any good restaurants here??!! RU kidding?! I don't think Australians realise how big and varied the US is. From rural to urban, west coast vs east coast, the south, Texas, Florida, the mid-west, Alaska, Hawaii...... its all so incredibly different and varied. The people and the environment, 'America' is just a collections of incredibly different people and lands.
@2HRTS1LOVE
@2HRTS1LOVE 5 жыл бұрын
Ikr, I was thinking that, too. Their country is roughly the same size, Sydney to Perth is like NY to LA, but everyone lives along the coast. We have over 300 million, I think they're around 25 million. I live in Florida, we have 25 million here alone, lol! And there's still lots of empty spaces. I can't imagine the people of my state being spread across the whole country, seems like you'd just be able to go for days without seeing another soul. So yeah, they probably don't really grasp how much larger of a population that is, how it allows for a bajillion small and medium sized towns/cities spread out all over the place, with vastly different terrain. Idk a lot about Oz, but I don't think they have everything from deserts to rainforests to huge mountains to great plains to great lakes, on and on. They make fun of us for never leaving, but there's literally so many different things to see and do, you could easily spend a lifetime and miss a lot.

When I lived in England for school, the English told me to check out Ireland, Scotland, and other places like Wales nearby. I wanted to, but didn’t get the chance. The English said they are nicer ppl, friendlier, and not rude outside of England. I wish I had the chance to check the other places out. Cows in America are mostly grain fed while cows in a lot of other countries are grass fed. When I was in Australia I had a grass fed hamburger, and while I liked it, my family really didn’t. give me pizza or give me death - Nah Aussies can banter and make fun of themselves, US-Americans can’t, Australia has universal healthcare (“free healthcare”) the USA does not, Aus has a work-life balance, the USA does not, Aussies are so laid back, US folk are often stressed out, Aus has Labour laws with plenty of time off for paid vacations, time off for paid sick leave, the US has poor or no Labour laws, Aussies are notorious world travellers, most US citizens don’t have a passport, don’t leave their country or state, Aus banned guns after one mad shooting, the US has not after multiple mass shootings, Aussies are not that religious or are quietly religious, US-Americans are devoutly and loudly religious, Aussies are indifferent or critical of Israel, US-Americans worship Israel, Etc, etc.

Mary Contrary - For US tourists in Europe don’t take things personally, it’s not always hate directed at the US (although sometimes it is) Europeans are just as critical, bluntly honest, judgemental, or “hateful” towards their own as they are towards foreigners. Different cultures y’know.

Mary Contrary - Yes! People love Italy for their wonderful culture and for their warm personalities, but even they get criticism from North-West Europe and they criticise North-West european, especially Germans, A LOT for their bad fashion sense haha.

Mary Contrary - Yes 😂! And for their bad food, cold/distant mannerisms, for history, politics in the EU, so for both lighthearted and more serious matters.

The homeless issue in the CA. WA FL. & NYC is outta control but most of the rest of America doesn't have a big homeless issue. Other cities may have a little bit but those places are outta control.

Speaking about homeless people in Australia, why did the social media seem in australia sound like not want to have other people knowing there're homeless living there, while the american dares to release the truth of homelessness?

Everyone I've met from various countries who don't like the U.S. only went to NYC, D.C., CA, and Las Vegas. I explained to them that they literally visited the worst places in a very large country. I wouldn't judge any country or it's people just on one or two locations, ESPECIALLY the capital cities and tourist places. I enjoyed this video, and hope to not only visit, but explore Australia some day.

I love how they bring up about over weight people in America but the people behind them couldn't count how many people were over weight.

😂😂😂 LEGIT this whole time I thought you were filming in "Annerly" which is a place in Queensland if I'm not mistaken. And the whole video I was thinking, "huh... this looks familiar... wow... we have a building just like that...that looks so much like Glenelg..." It wasn't until the end of the video where you're standing in that heart that I realised you're in my home city Adelaide! Best place to be if you like life a little quieter. In comparison to American cities, Adelaide is like a tiny country town. That's something that shocked me about America- the fact that some of your "country towns" are bigger than my home city and our country towns are like 1/10th the size of many small American country towns.
