I'm from Ontario. I don't not in any way have a French accent. Not all of us are French -Canadian. You must mean that they only traveller to Quebec and the outskirts because that's where you will find most with the accent. I personally love the accent.

Both the French and the English have been in Canada for over 150 years. 150 years ago is when Canada officially became a united country (save a few exceptions like Newfoundland). If you’re referring to the indigenous peoples being here before the Europeans then you’re right, but then it wasn’t Canada.
