I don't get the salt thing: Do they consume a lot of salt and fluids or just a lot of fluids without the salt to turn it over without the water retentions and weight gain? To the other people criticizing his weight: He is a nutritionist, KNOWLEDGE is his asset. The body is an athletes asset. It does not mean he needs the body of an athlete to prove his knowledge, just like a good coach does not need to put out 6 w/kilo all day long.

You don't have to be an athlete to have an ideal body weight though. There seems to be two possibilities: 1) His advice is good but he chooses not to follow it, in which case why not? This is his career and he's regularly in the public eye. He needs pro athletes to have faith and stake their careers on his advice. It's like the president of the hair club for men being bald. Doesn't inspire confidence. Or 2) His advice is not great and he can't manage a healthy weight on it himself.

Chicken is super anabolic. Why are they eating protein when protein causes muscle growth. Cycling is catabolic not anabolic. This nutritionist is feeding these boys a body builders diet. It should be carbs with a side of carbs with a heaping topping of carbs !!
@susanvalkai6348
@susanvalkai6348 7 жыл бұрын
+Martijn klop that's true however, there is sufficient protein in plant foods that are high in carbs, your potatoes, wheat pasta, and rice, that they would get enough protein. The chicken way, they are getting an excess of protein and it's going to slow them down rather than speed them up if they had carbs instead.
@alanhall235

That is exactly why you aren't a cycling nutritionist. Vegans don't have a clue about standard nutrition never mind sports nutrition.

+alan hall because I'm not overweight like their team chef? He might be the nicest person in the world but he is fundamentally wrong about what to feed them. Every cell in the body prefers #1 to run on glucose. Endurance athletes are all about the glycogen.

More than you might think. I have ridden with about 10 pros this year in Tenerife who eat vegan for most of the year. From what I can gather, it is widespread "in season" due to the performance-enhancing effects. Of course, a lot feel uncomfortable talking about it due to conflicts of interest with nutrition sponsorship deals at stake etc. Most do it purely for the weight management/blood benefits and animal cruelty isn't even on the radar. For that reason, some will eat meat with their team for social/celebratory reasons such as the Steak mentioned in the video. Such diets are more prominent in the running world due to the skinny Kenyans/Ethiopians dominating on corn/rice/potatoes and everyone wanting to copy them.
