I'm a 52-year old lesbian in the Houston, TX metro area. I came out at age 16 (in 1984) and I just found your channel because it popped up on my YT feed. I think y'all are adorable and enjoy your videos. :-) I watch because being lesbian/gay is SOOOO different now than it was when I came out so it's a little fascinating to see all you young lesbians (Rose and Rosie, Holly and Paige, etc.) on KZfaq. I sometimes feel like I missed out because we didn't have all the resources you have today and so many people were in the closet back then and it was very scary to come out that it was often hard for us to find each other. It was pretty much just the gay bars or community organizations (e.g. HRC, the local HIV/Aids group, gay club on college campus, etc.). All the groups were centered around very focused, serious issues back then and the only way to meet in a more normal way was in bars, which is not ideal. We didn't really have the internet widespread until I was in my 30's so all of my early days as a lesbian required one to do a lot of work to find other gay people. When we would find each other, we would form large cliques so we would have a group to feel a sense of belonging. Without that group we felt very isolated and alone. In Houston I was in a group of lesbians that was about 25-30 lesbians. Later, in Austin, I was in a group probably about the same size, 25 women or so. Our cliques were a major part of our lives and they could get somewhat incestuous because if a couple broke up, then they would really only know the other women in the same clique so they'd end up dating a mutual friend or an ex or something. Nowadays, I think social groups are a lot more fluid and diverse. Anyway I think it's wonderful the way things have changed and I'm so happy for your young "Queer" folks.
