About The Story of Us With Morgan Freeman:
From the award-winning team behind The Story of God with Morgan Freeman comes the new six-part series, The Story of Us with Morgan Freeman. At a time when events seem to be driving cultures apart and splintering our own, Morgan Freeman goes on a global journey to understand how human culture has taken so many remarkable forms. At the root of his quest is a drive to uncover the fundamental forces that keep our societies together, while revealing the common humanity that lies inside each one of us. Vast in his scope of inquiry yet with an intimate approach to each subject, Freeman meets people from all over the globe to explore the strength of belief, the thirst for power, how love shapes us, the role conflict plays in our lives, the spirit of rebellion and the concept of freedom.

Random passerby in Warsaw: "Freedom is there, where the law dies." How true his words are. Absolute freedom is neither archievable nor desirable, since the essence of your own freedom results in trespassing on other people's freedom. That's why we need laws to give everyone the equal amount of freedom.

Could you ore someone else alaberate on the comment I have some questions. Why isn't absolute freedom ashievable? Dont you think that law takes to much freedom away ? I feel like the laws dont realy do a good job to creatie that equal freedom. Why didn't I get the choice to deny those laws? And nouw they force me to follow them. Sorry If you feal attacked with all the questions its more that I feel clueless on the subject. And I want to know more.

@@David-tm8rt These are just my own thoughts. Attacking or challenging someone's train of thought is actually a good thing, this way we may come to a better conclusion. You are right, if you say laws take a lot of our freedom away. And since laws are made by a very limited number of people with their own selfish desires and problems at that time, it cannot be garanteed, those laws are right and just. But in a relatively free world, laws apply for everyone and have a public consent, and are reevaluated by time to time. A world, where everyone is free to do whatever he wants, we as individuals wouldn't be able to live together peacefully with each other. This goes from harmless disturbance (e.g. loud music in your neighbourhood) to life threatening occurrences (e.g. inappropiate behaviour in road traffic).

Your freedom will not mean trespassing other people's freedom, that sort of freedom is the american and british ways (stepping over everyone out of selfishness). If you are not selfish you will not trespass other people.

Most laws are made by the powerful ones to control the rest. So, most laws control us to do what the powerful ones want and this involves our freedom. In a society, and even at personal level, we usually have the amount of freedom that rules allow. And nobody has an equal amount of freedom, if you are poor or uneducated, your range of freedom is very limited in comparison. I agree that laws are necessary but not those that only control or organise the lives of those who are virtually powerless.

This is my second time watching this video. Was gonna comment the first time, but didn’t. The next day, today, this video came to mind. I thought about the question asked. And I developed an answer that is based on my life’s current circumstances. My response is unique to me as was the responses of those in the video to them. wanting to share, I took to the search bar and found this video only to comment. Freedom to me means living life outside of correctional facilities, pursuing my educational goals, life objectives, and ultimately correcting all the wrong I’ve done with the help of newly gained knowledge of academic curriculum as well as learning about myself. Freedom means everything to me, because without it I wouldn’t be able to do anything. I wouldn’t be free to.

If you were ever fortunate to travel outside of the U.S. you will experience how friendly and nice people are, especially in the countries that American companies, media and government like to paint as evil, savage, and 3rd world, and these countries include China, Russia, Iran, etc. In America we are allowed to say whatever we want to whoever we want and we think this is true freedom, but in fact every turn we have some government or corporate corruption, subverting of human rights through toxic foods, air, water, etc. and every action is violating some stupid law, and everything comes with fees and surcharges. If you can't afford fees or money for a lawyer, you spend time in jail. People call all of this 'freedom', but it's equally important to know what freedom 'is not' as well as what it is.

Freedom to me is complicated to explain because of how difficult it is to follow through with what so many people believe freedom is, because some freedoms might impede with someone else’s. When I think of freedom I don’t think of what most people would believe. I think that freedom is opportunity. That everyone and everything has the equal opportunity to do their best. That everyone if they work hard and play their cards right has just as much chance of success as anyone else. That is why if you break the law you will either be imprisoned or forever tormented by your conscience. That is why most people if not all people don’t live in any sort of anarchy. That is why totalitarians and dictators fail. Freedom is opportunity.

Tell me please, what freedom is? I am from Kazakhstan, I am kazakh ethnicity. There are a lot of ethics in Kazakhstan like kazakhs, russiana, ukrainians, korean people and many many others. During Soviet Union time all ethics in my country spoke russian language, and nowadays 90 percent of population speaks russian, or at least can speak russian. Kazakh lands joined to Russian Empire in late 17 early 18 centuries, kazakhs joined Russian Empire because they didn't want to be conquered by China, because be conquered by China could be the end to history of kazakh people. So during Russian Empire history and Soviet Union history multiethnic Kazakh lands all people spoke russian language, and after collapse of Soviet Union and nowadays most of the people speaks russian. After collapse of Soviet Union many russians gone to Russia, and population of a country decreased, so government took a decision to invite Kazakhs from Chine and Mongolia to Kazakhstan. Nowadays most of the people still speaks russian, of course my granny's knows both russian and native Kazakh languages, but we don't speak kazakh. So nowadays many of fascism oriented people in Kazakhstan try to convince us, that we are now must speak kazakh, and this people very agressive, awful and ignorant. They want everyone speak kazakh (like Ukrainian fascists wants everyone speak Ukrainian in Ukraine). But you know what? It's like one day all American Apache's will tell everyone that People of USA must all speak native American Apache's language, instead of English, because native Americans is native people of North America. So what is right? What is freedom? Is it right that they humiliate us, they tell us go to Russia, but how can I go to Russia? I am kazakh, I speak Russian because everybody in Kazakhstan speaks russian like 100 years. What is freedom? I must learn Kazakh language? I was born and speak russian all my life, I also learn English, because I need it, I need russian to speak with people of Russia, I need English to speak with people abroad. I don't need Kazakh, because all in Kazakhstan speaks russian. Why I need learn Kazakh language if only group not fascists wants us to speak kazakh? They want, because they want all of people of Kazakhstan to bow to the Kazakh language, so what is freedom? Why I haven't right to speak that language which I want?
