I'm shadowing the anesthesiology and the CAA the next few weeks. I'm a CNA and the Anesthesiologist came up to my unit and I asked his assistant is he was a CAA and he said no I'm a tech. Then the Anesthesiologist started talking to me about CAA and said email him and he'll set up shadows for me. If all goes well, after I get my prereqs, I'll be going to Nova Denver.

You’re videos have been incredibly helpful! I’m pre-AA and applying very soon. If I get in I want to start making some AA KZfaq videos and try to help others through this process, and your channel has been a large inspiration. Keep it up!!

I’m a pre-PA student who also have love for the aa field. I agree with the statement about Bio/Chem degree. Most of the time your advisor gives just flat out bad advice unfortunately. If I could go back I’d probably major in something that you can work with straight after graduation like a bachelor in radiology, respiratory therapist, nurses (although it’s difficult to maintain high GPA in nursing programs), etc. Most of these programs will require you to take science courses such as biology and chemistry anyway, just make sure those courses are intended science majors at higher levels. Those are the classes that AA schools and PA schools want you to take. Focus on your GPA first, it’s easier to bring down your GPA than to bring it up! And just sneak in experiences whenever you can, don’t compromise your grades.

Hey Jonah, your videos are always so great and it's nice to see you posting! I really want to start a KZfaq channel documenting my road to CAA, the process, and some of my hobbies... Any advice or words of wisdom? I'm pre-AA on the fence if I should rush the process and apply this cycle or keep to my plan and apply next cycle. I already have my BA in Psychology, but I still have physics 2 and BioChem to complete in the Fall and I have yet to take the MCAT. Once I'm done with the Fall semester I plan on starting my MCAT studies and taking it sometime in April; In the meantime, I've been applying to Anesthesia Tech jobs at the hospital I currently work at. Any additional advice or comments? I appreciate you!

For getting started with youtube, I would recommend getting an entry level mirrorless camera and record videos for your personal collection. Get used to filming your life and speaking to the camera without the pressure of having an audience while you build up the habit. As far as becoming a CAA goes, I would apply for anesthesia tech jobs outside of your hospital as well. It could help you negotiate better terms and be more likely to get the role. Other than that just have the best grades you can and apply as early in the cycle as possible.

I have no medical background but want to get into becoming a CAA... im 29 and have bills... ive been recommended to start at nursing school for the basics and then go from there.. think that would be a good starting route?

Depends...Look up some AA schools and look at their pre-reqs. If speed is what you're looking for, choose a degree that will hit the pre-reqs fastest. Pre-reqs tend to be very similar to pre-med pre-reqs. As Jonah said, a bio degree doesn't really land you a job unless you continue your education. So, depending on your life circumstances, nursing might take you longer to get to AA (or you could go CRNA which takes more time as well) but you'd have your nursing degree to fall back on if you can't/don't get in or finish AA school. If you have no medical background, do some shadowing. Good luck!

Hey man I’m a student in central Florida working on my undergrad. I have the opportunity to either attend my colleges radiologic tech or respiratory therapy programs. I was wondering if I should focus on respiratory therapy over rad tech in order to make myself a stronger applicant for CAA? Thanks for your content it’s extremely valuable.

Rad tech work always impresses and fascinates me. But for AA specifically, respiratory therapy is probably the single best experience + education you can have.

Hi Jonah! I’m looking to apply to all the NSU locations this winter and hopefully attend this coming summer of 2025…. I’m studying for the GRE to get a pretty competitive score because I have a high GPA but I’m a little lacking in the relevant clinical experience. With an average GPA of 3.85-ish in college and around a 320 on the GRE, do you think I’ll be a competitive applicant to NSU CAA school? I plan on shadowing ASAP, but I work 60-80 hours a week currently so it’s tough to fit everything in with my current schedule

(To give a little more clarity, I graduated back in 2021: summa cum laude, with honors, 2 bachelors in biology and chemistry, with a minor in business. I took some gap years because I wanted to work and start a family)

@@jamessudbury6943 Those are some good grades in my eyes. If you apply in the winter, depending on the month more than half of the interview invites will have already been given out. If you lack shadowing still you should either rush that to apply earlier or give yourself more time to apply next year, especially if you still need time to gather your LORs and personal statement.

I took my mcat this may and unfortunately got a 492 smh. The application cycle is this month and am probably going to apply next cycle. What are your thoughts? I graduated with a biochemistry with a 3.3 gpa and have 3 publications in research and worked as an anesthesia tech for a year and 6 months as a medical assistant. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

honestly give this cycle a shot, your test scores can be over shadowed by your pubs and tech experience. If anything, try applying to the new programs that opened up in Texas and Bluefield since they're fresh programs.
