omg i didnt know that your history class does not include anything about Philippines whereas our history class includes a lot about our asean neighbors specialy about Japan. At senior high at least we have general idea about other countries. But its good to hear the you introduced our country to your brod and next time our food. I would love to go to Japan and taste authentic Japanese food. Last year olympics would have been the best time if not for the pandemic as i planned to watch the samurai blue, nadeshiko and now the ladies volleyball team. Keep safe always.
@artesiningart49613 жыл бұрын
✌️😅🇵🇭 I got confused at first with how you used "asean" or "ASEAN" instead of "Asian", because Japan is not a member-state nor an observer state of ASEAN, but I still got it in the end.

I remember in our geography class, we extensively discussed Japan too. Hence, my classmates and I knew where exactly Kyoto is, relative to the distance to Tokyo. As well as Sapporo, Kobe, Yokohama, Honshu, and Osaka. Of course, because of World History class, we got to know where Nagasaki and Hiroshima was on the Japan map. I know that not all Asian schools teach about other Asian countries, so it's ok if your brother doesn't know much about the Philippines.

Fun fact during early 1930's before the war..japanese settled in the philippine island of mindanao farming abaca and bananas..they introduced us how to make udon noddles were now we are calling "udong" only found in mindanao. Also until now japan still buys our abaca and bananas.
@isaiah13323 жыл бұрын
yeah and "udong" is actually close to how Japanese would pronounce it.

That’s like Puerto Rico flag lol. Everyone should visit every country at least once. Gives us all perspective of how people live and think. Not only we learn their culture, we teach ourselves how we ought to think and why we ought to respect everyone even though they’re different from us. I recommend your brother to travel as you did and I recommend it to everyone as well. I can’t wait for this covid to be over cuz I miss travelling.
@Mhike1772 жыл бұрын
@delt who said anything about living the tourist resorts lives? You do know every country has hardships with poor people right? Just cuz you live in a western so called “civilized” country that your place of living has no poor people. Doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy other culture by traveling. You would actually be helping the poor by continued job creation and uplifting their economy. Man you’re stupid if you only think culture is found in resorts and hotels.
@Mhike1772 жыл бұрын
@delt hahaha I hate when KZfaq does that. Irritating at times. Anyway, I understood what you said because I came from a poor country and lived poor myself, but it is a sad reality that no one is able to eradicate, including the rich western countries. It still doesn’t change the fact that my point is to travel to experience other cultures, but your response has nothing to do with my comment. People will travel the way they want. Who cares how they travel? You still have people who truly learn the culture and it is why I recommended doing it that way. If they want to stay in resorts or hotels, then it’s their problem because they didn’t learn anything. Being a poor country doesn’t represent culture since all countries have them. Going out there and maybe meeting poor people can teach one a lot about local cultures. I mentioned nothing about staying in fancy accomodations so in my opinion, your comment was irrelevant to what I recommended and you can’t counter my comment with something irrelevant. Either way, if they stay in fancy hotels or not, truly learned the culture or not, they will still advertise that to people they know as a good experience. It will then allow more tourism in the country, helping the economy and those poor people to have jobs in the long run. It’s why I don’t see your comment to be irrelevant since you focused on the negative and not how it can help the poor.

@rhadamarugaming4833 жыл бұрын
? Anito is not even us. Its was a misinterpret by spanish colonizer
@artesiningart49613 жыл бұрын
@@rhadamarugaming483 ✌️😅🇵🇭 No po. The word "anito" and its concept and belief is Austronesian and not from any of our foreign colonizers. The word "anito" was accordingly derived from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *qanitu and Proto-Austronesian *qaNiCu (which means "spirit of the dead" in those proto languages ). Its linguistic cognates in other Austronesian languages or the words from other Austronesian languages that are of the same linguistic and etymological origins as or with "anito" are: "aitu" (ghost or spirit) in Samoan language in Samoa and American Samoa, "hantu" (ghost or spirit appearing after death, or demon or evil spirit) in Malay language of Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore (and means "ghost or spirit appearing after death" in the Indonesian language of Indonesia), "hanitu" (ghost or spirit after dead) in the Bunun language of the indigenous Bunu people of Taiwan, "aitu" (with different negative meanings) in Maori language of New Zealand, "aitu" (ghost or supernatural being) in Niuean language of Niue, "aitu" (ghost or evil spirit) in Tokelauan language of Tokelau, and "anito" (evil spirit) in the Yami language of the indigenous Yami people of Taiwan. On the other hand, the word "diwata" (spirit, nature spirit, nature guardian, god or goddess, lesser god or goddess, deity, universal supreme being, or fairy) is of foreign origin. It is from the Visayan languages and dialects of the Visayas in the Philippines, but linguistically, etymologically, or originally from the Sanskrit word देवता (devatā) which means a “god" or a "deity". The words like: maligno (from "maligno" which means "evil one, malignant, or malign"), engkanto (from "encanto" which means "charm, glamor, spell, or delight"), engkantado (from "encantadór" which means "charming, lovely, or enchanting"), engkantada (from "encantada" which means "haunted, bewitched, or delighted"), nimpa/nimfa (from "ninfa" which means a "nymph"), espiritu/espirito (from "espíritu" which means a "spirit"), bruho (from "brujo" which means a "sorcerer, warlock, or magician"), bruha (from "bruja" which means a "witch, sorceress, hag, or crone"), demonyo (from "demoio" which means a "demon, devil, daemon, or fiend"), diyablo (from "diablo" which means a "devil, the devil, demon, daemon, or evil"), etc. are the ones which came from a language of one of our former colonizers, imperialists, and/or occupiers or occupants, which are from the Spanish language of the Spanish people from Spain.

most Filipino food is intended to be eaten with rice, that is why the dishes on their own are seasoned strongly. The rice balance or softens the strong flavors. Tip: if the dish is too salty/sour/sweet/spicy, just add more rice on your spoon to water down the strong flavor.
