Pay no attention to the negative comments, Brendan! As a young, Catholic woman, it is absolutely refreshing and encouraging to hear a man speak with care, tenderness and conviction about the value of a woman. Most men don’t view or speak about women like this these days! Thank you for being a voice of true masculinity and reminding us women that there are still young men who recognize our worth and beauty in the eyes of the Lord.

Thank you for sharing this truth. Our culture has lost what true femininity and masculinity look like. This is what has been lost and one of the biggest ways in which the enemy has perverted and deceived. The women’s movement has persuaded many women that in order to live a fulfilling life, they need to become masculine at least in terms of their persona. At the same time, the culture has been telling men that they need to become more feminine. This has been going on for decades. Is it any wonder that marriages are failing, that men and women are increasingly unhappy and that young people are confused about their gender identity?

After months and months of trying to find a new job and constantly hitting dead ends, I feel defeated. This was exactly what I needed to see and hear today. Here I have been putting so much effort and worth into finding a job that I’ve been forgetting about my true calling. One I can’t hope to fulfill one day.

This comment has 15 likes as I write this. Why? I don't understand the comment. It has never been easier to find a job. Why have you been unsuccessful for "months and months"? I mean, I sympathize with you because it is very demoralizing to be told "no" over and over, but why is that happening? Are you applying for jobs for which you don't meet the requirements? If so, some vocational training may be helpful. If the jobs you're applying for are not your "true calling", then you need to find a job that is. Again that may require additional training or even relocating to where such a job is. God wants you to use the talents he gave you, so find a job where you can do that.

@@larrymelman I can’t tell if you are being demeaning or helpful. I have a bachelors degree and am working on my MBA, so I don’t just want any job. I’m saying that all the dead ends I’m hitting may be a sign from God that the jobs I’m applying for aren’t for me. Trying to work in corporate America isn’t working for me anymore. Maybe it’s a sign I need to start applying to non-profits or something.
@larrymelman

@@hannahalexie5158 In my part of corporate America, a lot of older workers are retiring instead of returning to work after covid. So opportunities for younger workers are very good right now. The non-profit world has its own issues, so don't look to that as greener pastures. I personally believe that God gives us our talents and then it it up to us to use them correctly. You mentioned that the jobs you are applying for are not your true calling, I don't know what that means. Good luck and keep trying.

@@zsedcftglkjh cuz I’m a man and even as a man with sons and daughters I recognize men should really stop telling them what to do. We should be more concerned about how we as men are mostly lacking growth and to focus on where we are lacking. This alone has an effect on what type of partners we attract, when we shift attention from the opposite sex and focus on inner growth, we attract partners who are doing the same.

@@user-nk2ub1hd2p How can you know the masculine without the feminine? Or what is right without knowing what is wrong? Or good without evil? The light without the darkness? Virtue without sin? The concept of one is only known in contrast to the other, therefore, it is completely pertinent for men to discuss what it means to be feminine.

Nah dude, this sounds so pretentious. That example you gave of the mom refusing treatment to what later on became terminal illness, just to give birth to a "heathy" child is an example of a literal blind devotion that sounds so toxic on all front. Nothing "sweet" about that yoke. It's like refusing treatment if they found cancer in your testicle, because it might "endanger" your future child.

Men telling women how to be authentic females??? Interesting 🤔 A woman’s worth is wrapped up in her sexuality and bearing of children??? Interesting 🤔 This theology subjugates women to a subservient role. No matter how many gestures and faces one makes, the content is flawed.
@grosenj
@grosenj 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, these guys always put women into a framing where they only have worth in passive roles. They are supposed to inspire and be the recipients of affection (and, of course, sexual desires, but these guys never say that out loud). And when you look at his very artificial mannerisms, I don't think he should be lecturing anyone about "authenticity" .

I’m starting to think it’s true. They keep covering it up with flowery language but the meat of it is literally to be under men (figuratively and literally).
@grosenj
@grosenj 2 жыл бұрын
@Stephanie C It has something to do with the fact that in these belief systems, women primarily gain worth from their roles as mothers. When a woman is young, her worth derives only from her position as someone who will later become a mother. Together with marriage, It is the only role a woman is "allowed" to fill, she has no potential outside of motherhood. It is not about what she wants or what she herself would choose. When she becomes to old to have children, she is considered a failure and is pitied if she is not a mother. Together with her role as mother, she is also a wife. Someone who is expected to support and dote on her husband. He is the star, the interesting one, she is his support.
@Coleslice
@Coleslice 2 жыл бұрын
@@grosenj fatherhood and motherhood are both designed to support children, just according to different modes. The value you place on fatherhood being the interesting one is a result of current cultural biases. Motherhood is arguably more diverse and requires a significant amount of knowledge and skill. Nurse, teacher, counselor, homemaker, among other things. Fatherhood and the monetary support it garners exists primarily to support motherhood and the family. There is no greater career than the rearing of Godly future generations. There is so much to say on this topic, but honest attempting to learn and be open to understanding cannot be forced.
@grosenj
@grosenj 2 жыл бұрын
@@Coleslice No, you misunderstood what I was talking about. I do not place more value on fatherhood, I am describing a belief system where the woman is subservient to the man. What you are describing is actually what I'm talking about. A lot of flowery language is used to make the stay-at-home-wife appear as "the important one" in marriage, but at the end of the day, she is still subservient to her husband. She gets to make his dinner and iron his clothes, he gets to go out and make the money and get the attention. And, at the end of the day, call the shots. What I am talking about has nothing to do with "motherhood vs. fatherhood", which is the most important and demanding, and so on.

Yeah, that Fulton-Sheen quote sure is pretty and high-brow, but that does not make it any more truthful. Re-reading that quote, it obvious that Fulton-Sheen did not have a lot of experience with relationships or women. You can close your eyes all day and try to make your message sound profound, but it doesn't help one bit, buddy.
