She wasn’t actually that good, and once other players figured her game out, she was toast.

You don't get to a Grand Slam final and semi finals (in the same season) without being good. She was obviously very good, and other players didn't work out her game, she made it easier for her opponents by losing her focus on tennis and as this video points out, if that happens, it's well nigh impossible to stay at or near the top. As a result of that would be an increasing lack of confidence. She also seems to have had something of a questionable attitude towards her peers which didn't help, but she was definitely 'good' in terms of tennis talent.

I agree, it's about good sportsmanship. I shake hands before competition all of the time, because I want to build good rapport with my opponents.

She had no idea how tough the circuit was. She still is not ranked in the 100's. I wish her luck but I think the competition is just too tough now.

She either lost focus or she was never that great to begin with. She has talent but it requires tremendous dedication and passion to hone that talent.

@@oshawaxpress She did have that one magical season where she made Australian semis and Wimbledon finals and the media fawned over her as the next great champion... but sadly it's been downhill from there. At least Emma Raducanu has a Grand Slam even if she's struggling. Still she's had a good run and now she's moved to pickleball so good luck to her.

Genie does not care, as long as she makes tons of cash with all of her endorsements she is going to milk the system regardless of where she sits in the professional female tennis rankings. She is still one of the highest paid female athlete's with all of her endorsements regardless that she is tanking. I heard she is retiring from tennis and going to start a new career playing pickleball.

Got lucky for a bit then talented players with more drive came up and beat the crap out of her. Her looks/body are also starting to fade. She should just try and focus on getting a broadcasting career going and stick with that.

She was physically assaulted by Kirios in the change room after their mixed doubles match, as opposed to a fall from slipping on a wet floor, and hitting her head. The photographs of her the next day showed bruises and damage on her head that looked like she had received several blows from a baseball bat. Those photos are nowhere to be found now, and the trial was basically a negotiation between Eugenie's family and the USTA, where the USTA agreed to pay 75% of her medical costs. Pretty weak settlement for an injury that continues to plague her in September 2023/
