Wich one should i start with ? Should i start with the drawing books first? ( i never try to draw fashion design , i try but I’m not good :( should i go first with the drawing books or the fashion and fiber books as a beginner!? )

Awesome! I'm definitely starting with Zero Waste Fashion Design and Professional Sewing Techniques for Designers. I never want my products to look "homemade". I was lucky enough to learn my sewing techniques from my friend who worked in the industry for a long time and free lanced for the pageant world. Hopefully I don't have "home sewing" habits to unlearn. Thank you so much!

Zoe Hong Do you have a recommendation on a book or resource for overall terminology? I am not a fashion designer. I need something more for finding correct terminology when writing descriptions of garments like for marketing and copywriting purposes. I was told to try a book called Fashionpedia but haven’t had a chance to order yet.

My wife gave me her copy of 9 heads by Nancy Riegelman from her own school days. Even though I’m not doing fashion design, more comic, manga and sifi drawing I find it a wonderful reference for faces, figures and drawing clothes. I have the Human figure and color theory book. Both great resources. Thanks for the tips. Keep doing what your doing your so helpful.

It's funny, I had scoured the internet for good books on fashion design, took me months to find everything I needed, and you made an entire list of them in a short 12 minute video lol! This is a great video because if you are like me and truly value books as a resource of learning, you can avoid hours and hours of scimming and reading reviews and such. These really are the best books you can get on this subject.. especially Helen Joseph Armstrong's patternamking for fashion design book, there is also a draping book that she did and its absolutely amazing

Just got my two books Fabric sewing guide by Claire And The Fashion Design Course by Steve I wanted to get the pattern making by dennic but next week I will be purchasing. Thank you for your interesting, valuable videos. I've been sewing for years, love altering stuff for myself. I'm retired now so i can play with fabric and designs as much as i want! I have had to adjust to not being a size 2 anymore, and i have to check myself a little with my tendency to wild colors. Bohemia is my natural environment. Yes, i make my curtains and pocketbooks and rugs too!😁 Thank you again for being such a valuable resource! I hope you make lots of money with the Amazon links, you deserve it

I find this list really palatable and approachable. Very grateful to be studying independent, I can wait on the tech spec handbook. Think I'm going to dive first into 1. Professional Sewing Technique For Designers (I grew up sewing and already learned to make patterns & use the industrial sewing and overlock machines in highschool) 2. Fashion Design Course (it's really cheap at Target!) 3. Zero Waste Fashion Design, which is the whole reason I'm pursuing this line of work. Which books are you all getting into first?
