It's called the product of almost 500 years of imperial colonization lol. To be blunt and honest.

Both Spanish and English are in the language because new words for many things simply didn't exist in the language. For 300+ years many Spanish words were adopted to fill those voids. Needed words after the Spaniards were gone, the American (English) word was used. Pretty much anything that's been invented outside of the country in the past century, the computer for example, the English word was likely adopted into the language.

Actually not necessarily i speak tagalog and i study spanish, so actually for some words, he have a spanish version and an alternate word for tagalog street: spanish borrowed word is kalye/kalsada, and tagalog would be daan (kalye-calle isn't used, but kalsada-calsada is) Chair: spanish- silya, tagalog-upuan/bangko (silya-silla this word isn't really used) And also numbers, numbers are interchangable, we use both tagalog numbers and spanish numbers but theyre used in different ways, u can use spanish numbers 1-10 when u play cards, but u dont use tagalog numbers for that, u can use tagalog numbers when referring to something in a general way, but for me when dealing with money, I use spanish numbers like bente-veinte...por ejemplo pregunto a vendedor, cuanto cuesta, y después puede decir "bente" pesos

Actually, our language, Filipino is mixed of Malay and Spanish language...and English came later bc Americans came in early 1900s and English is also taught in school and textbooks in Science and Math today. But, most of the mix speakers (of Taglish Tagalog+English) were mostly found in Metro Manila but if you go to the southern part of the country in Visayas and Mindanao people speak there purely in their dialects which is mostly Bisaya/Cebuano!

They are responsible because they are the "government" hence, they need to be blamed. A lack of proper governance leads to citizens not being able to abide strictly to laws. Just look at some government from other countries who are in full control, nakakapalag ba ang mga citizens sa katigasan ng ulo nila? Hindi! Because the government is responsible.

Lol they always blame the government. Sometimes the change can start within us. If we want change then start discipline ourselves by following simple rules.

If you come to think of it, the government still plays a huge role in this. The purpose of the government is to maintain order in society. People have no discipline because the government fails to INSTILL that discipline. May it be large business corps or poor families residing near Manila Bay, they all dump their trash in there because the place is unregulated. No matter how many clean up drives we do, if we do not completely restrict any form of dumping there, nothing would change. Self-discipline is important, but the reason we need a government is because it's not at all times that people are able to discipline themselves on their own. The government's duty is to MAINTAIN ORDER. If there are no laws for its stakeholders to abide by, nothing will happen. Apart from creating rules, we also have to implement them properly. It's not enough that there are policies. Creating AND implementing have to go hand in hand. No one else can do this most efficiently but the government. Yes, it would be nice if people learn how to discipline themselves, but it's the government's duty to constantly remind and SHOW its people that self-discipline is possible. They are called "leaders" for a reason. They lead and we follow. Both leaders and followers have their duties. But what's disheartening is that these leaders can't even be good examples to their followers. They have the platform that ordinary people don't have, why not use it efficiently?

I don’t think we were treated like royalty (like, they didn’t treat us as superior), but there is just a wonderful, selflessness to everyone we met. When we were climbing Tagaytay (an extinct volcano), my sister fainted. This lady at the top immediately laid her down gently and started crushing leaves under her nose to help her wake up. yes I think so, and in general the plan is not bad. they dont get as much as when the tourists are there, but they arent without money.. but they were a part of how the whole situation ended. So, after this cleaning and renovation campaign, you can be sure that all of the locals there are now super attentive and conscious about the situation, no matter if they are interested in have a nice enviroment or not. Because after this event they know, if they dont do care and dont tell tourists to care, they will have a bad income year again ;) That is once again, one of Dutertes very harsh, but effective decisions.. And they work.

went there in 07 and it was nice, went back in 2012 and it was nasty, overdeveloped and crowded. Most of the tourists i observed there were filipinos. and ill say for sure it wasent me throwing cigarette butts all over the beach.

well, our primary language is filipino and secondary language is english so mixing them together isnt that strange, and plus tagalog is a mixture of malay+spanish+some local words and sometimes you can trace some japanesse words, which makes sense cuz ancient filipinos were descendants of malay and people from china/taiwan then filipinos were colonized by spanish in 300 yrs then america stepped in conquered us for 50 years then the japanesse for a really short while... so that why or language is so confusing

if you know Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, English, Japanese, Indonesian languages. you can understand filipino.. haha.. well at least 1/8 ..

Foreigners shouldn't be treated better than your average local person in any type of food establishment. A foreigner would be paying the same amount in a restaurant as a local would, right? So why should they be given a better seat?
