Firewood business is so slow I can't give it away. We've had lots of warm weather lately really slowing firewood sales. I even offered a friend free firewood and they didn't take it.

Take the splitter to your buddies house when you go over and split a load into his truck onsite. That will be a win for both of you. You won't have to haul the wood home and he won't have to come get it. It will take a little time to get established. You have a good product and customer will keep coming back. $400 is pretty good. I watched a video, actually an ad. The guy said the average person is lucky if they can save $200 a month. The way I look at it, if I can do something like firewood, that little bit of money puts me ahead of the curve. I think you have a really good thing going on with the road side stand. You have to cut a minimal amount of wood to supply it and restocking is easy, you don't have to deliver it. I don't have a good place for a road side stand, or I would have one. I have a little different idea that I may do, if I can get enough wood. I don't want to spread myself too thin.

That’s a good idea I may do that when I go back. Yes you have to take care of your established business first. I been toying with the idea of trying to sell bundles to stores again I just really don’t want to right now. Thanks for stopping by take care, Ben.

Class of ‘67, UGA, so you know who I am supporting. Ended up, after Vietnam, being in the Class of ‘73 at Georgia State, when it was not the liberal institution that it is today. Red oak, we called it water oak in South Georgia is excellent firewood for smoking meat. My first smoker was two 55 gallon drunks welded together with a meat rack in the top and a firebox door in the bottom. I could load it up with oak, put a Turkey on the rack at the top and come out the next morning and it was done - pink all the way through. The same for a Boston Butt. Didn’t have any thermometers rub or nothing. Just load it up with wood and go to sleep. I had welded a big icee of heavy duty hardware cloth in the top for a meat rack.

I have a regular 27 ton splitter that crushes thru even most knots. Most free wood I find to cut and split is pine. Can your 2 way cycle splitter handle tough big knotted pine? Most of what I see you split is fairly knot free.
@OGAOutdoors
@OGAOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Gary I’m happy with it. It handles about everything I throw at it up to about 24”. It will cut through some knots but I generally try to work around them getting everything worked down in even splits with as little waste as possible. Most of the nasty knots I come across usually end up in the scrap pile or I burn what I can. Take care, Ben.

Gary thanks for watching sir. I have thought about it just got used to the pvc in the pocket. I saw a laser that attached to the saw handle that would be out of the way when cutting. About an hr north of me you can get a tote of fire wood for $50 and in my area a tote of ash goes for about $65-$85.
