I also have a 1165, unfortunately they don’t offer this version anymore. They made them vertical splitters now. They are more capable than given credit for. Check out my channel if you want to see mine, I’ve added a custom built outfeed conveyor and the 4 way wedge. 👍🏻

They are good little splitters. Just don’t try to do too much and make sure the rounds are cut straight. I’m always concerned with possibly bending the ram. I’ll try to get over and check out your setup.

Nice work on filtering it with the t-shirt I guess I'll start using that method I just been pouring it in not giving a crap. I have a 12-year-old echo I think it's a 6:10 That's one of the models and it's a 16-in blade. And that thing fires up first pull every season probably the best two-stroke tool I've ever had. And I've been using shitty used oil, tranny fluid, power steering fluid whatever the hell I have in my garage when I need it because I am not paying $10 a quart for chain bar oil especially when every chainsaw I've used or seen leaks bar oil. Both my chainsaws I have leak bar oil so they both have to sit on top of nice thick cardboard to absorb that. And one of the chainsaws is only a year old and it's leaked oil since day one. Anyone who who gives you crap about the environment Tell him to pound sand anything we put on our own property is our business and it's nothing compared to what big corporations do to the environment every day couple quarts of used motor oil in my backyard isn't harming anybody lol

Yeah I tend to agree don’t really see I’m doing much harm to anything. My saws leak too. I’ve heard you can open the oil cap to relieve the pressure before putting the saw up. Supposed to help can’t remember if I ever tried that though. Thanks for stopping by.

I always wonder why folks split their firewood so small, are you making kindling, or going to smoke meat with this cherry? Or do you have an outdoor fire pit??? Otherwise I enjoyed your video, and I saw one thing that you did that I wonder why other folks do not do, when you had a piece that was stringy, you just stuck another piece in and let the splitter push the stringy one right on through. That is GOOD Thinking!

Yeah I split a lot of my wood small. I live in Alabama so I have a lot of smaller fires that are easier to manage with the small splits. A lot of my customers want the smaller splits. It also helps it dry a lot quicker. Thanks for watching and stopping by.

Nice video Ben! Part in a long sleeve shirt. Spring here is still warm, cool, warm, cold. It was 73 yesterday, and supposed to frost tonight. Crazy. I helped a friend out last week and cut up some Douglas Fir that had been down a few years. It's a bit punky. Probably not the best firewood. I will split it and salvage the better pieces, and get rid of the real punky stuff

I split right into totes pretty much just the way you were. I use a Sawzall with 18 or more teeth per inch to cut the sides out. The blades are cheaper than stones for the grinder and the Sawzall is faster. Don't know if you have a Sawzall but if you do might be worth a try. Have fun at the river.
