Hi ! Is the first one shown a matt?? I started to do my first napkin bottle last night. After I let it dry for more than an hour, I started the second coat (as it was a dark bottle, and another was clear), the matt acrylic began to come off in slabs.... I was mortified!!! I had used fresh paint and a spong brush,had washed and dried the items thoroughly. I finally ran the 2 bottles under water and all the paint just slid down into the drain. What did I do wrong????? HELP :.(( I have other bottles that I want to craft on but I don't want this to happen again nor waste paint. Thank you SOOOOO much as I love ALL your work and enjoy how you explain every step as you go... You are a GEM.

The first paint used is True Blue Gloss Enamels. The paint is not permanent until baked, but if you were just going to apply a second coat I am not sure. Is there a coating on the bottle prepaint?

This is the problem I am having painting on windows. Need something that won't come off putting on other colors and designs. Baking should be final step.
@saaqtl6 жыл бұрын
Many paints need something to stick to. Using a fine grit sandpaper and lightly buffing to give it some texture to hold onto should solve the problem. Of course that is for items you intend to paint the whole glass of. For glass that you are painting just a small spot you could try backing between coats or you could clean it with something stronger than soap and water that might get rid of any manufacture residue. The hardware store will direct you to something, possibly an acid or solvant, that will clean but not etch the glass. I hope this helps.

Is there a wait between layers in order to apply more or to make it darker? Also, do you wipe them down before putting in the oven if they were wine glasses?
@KatieAdams3 жыл бұрын
To add more layers, I would wait for the previous layer to dry to the touch before adding another coat. I did not wipe the glass down before putting it in the oven, and the directions don't say to. But I also don't think it would hurt anything if you did.

Is glass from a picture frame save to bake? Time temperature and for how long? I want to do this as a gift for a resident who's window is facing an alley way.

I baked glass from a frame with no issues. As for baking instructions you really need to follow the directions on the glass paint bottle. Different glass paints cure and bake differently.

@@tgbarberernestocastillo249 OK, I understand better. You could use acrylic paint. when you need to remove the paint you can use a large edge razer like this one (amzn.to/3uxbXlW) to scrape it off, or you could use water and a soft scrubber (amzn.to/3OQbdQR) and that will work to remove the paint as well.

Is it possibly to paint over sections of Tiffany-style stained glass lamps with any of these techniques?
@KatieAdams4 жыл бұрын

According to the label, the glass paint is top-rack dishwasher safe, but I would recommend handwashing over the dishwasher. Over time the heat of the dishwasher will crack the paint.
