I had 2 piggies who had that generic small cage that was sold with them. My family all thought it was too small, so my dad built a ramp out of the side opening and used the build able play cage strapped to each side and looped around the front in a semi-circle! They absolutely loved it! And when we cleaned the cage each day, they would use that time to have free roam around the room! They were so curious when they were younger and would go behind cabinets, sit under the fridge, sneak into the sitting room and sit under the kitchen table to grab scraps off the floor. As they mellowed out a bit when they got older we allowed them to free roam all the time. They learned through time where not to go and what not to do (they still did that stuff anyways on occasion lol) It was so cute walking into the room and having them immediately begin wheeking and run to the fridge for treats! I miss them a lot, but I know they had a wonderful life ❤😊

Guinea pigs also love fresh grass ! Its a wonderful way to give them vitamin c too!

I love that your guinea pigs talk!! Especially Pippy, many of us have fallen for him hard!! I bought my sister's guinea pigs some yummy veggies and guinea safe treats. They just loved all of it. Love watching these little squeakhearts 🥹💕

1) big, clean enclosure with cozy hideys 2) cage mates they get along with 3) unlimited quality hay and fresh leafy greens and grass, veggies (in moderation) 4) home first aid kit and access to a piggy savvy vet 5) check your piggies everyday 6) pea flakes (in moderation) 😅

Thank you for your work and for sharing. My herd is adjusting after the loss of the patriarch mother of 5 Jadzia passed...9 of the others are named after the Star Trek Deep Space Nine original cast. It's finally reaching a period where I plan letting them graze outdoors.

Serious question from a retired person whose every parachute has been shredded in the last 3 yrs. Will my herd of 4 survive on a diet of lawn grass & weeds - produce no longer affordable

I think dandelion greens have vitamin C? Guinea pigs probably survived on grass and weeds for as long as they’ve been around. I think living with humans and getting fresh produce is a relatively new development for pigs. Given that the pig diet is 80% hay, you shouldn’t have too much trouble supplementing with grass and weeds. 😊
