How do you wash all that fleece without destroying your washer??
@catherinewholey3630Сағат бұрын
Totally understand. I also have lots of foster piggies and my own piggies in large cages in a big room and its impossible for everyones cage to be spotless all the time. I clean the cages in rotation and some cages might be clean and fresh while anothers were done 2/3 days ago and as you say thats fine. I clean everyone out thoroughly once a week and they get another clean about 3 days after their big clean when I get rid of the worst of the mess and replace fleece pads where needed. Besides we all know that piggies love to mess up their clean cages asap and make it how they want it!!

Onyx's expression when you came back to the flipped bowl was just classic! I wonder if you could find some kind of safe putty and fill in the hollow bottom side of the LAGPR bowl to help make it harder to flip?

The cage will always be covered with poop and hay, except when you just put the new fleece and the piggies are still outside the cage. Sometimes as soon as I put them in they poop/pee. I try to see messy cages as a sign that my piggies are healty. When one of my boys was sick he wasn't moving and pooping much. Half of the cage was spotless, so I don't associate that with good things. It is understandable Scotty, with so many cages there's no way you can spot clean all of them every day. I was always wondering how you manage to clean so many cages. I could never. I try to spot clean every day with a mini dustpan, but I have only 2 cages so it's more manageable. That way when it's time to do the deep clean once a week it is easier for me. I am still trying to find ways to make the cleaning easier and to find out what will work the best for me and the boys.I put their hay in a cat litter tray, one of them makes it his mission to cover the entire bottom of the cage with hay 🤷♀️. I don't mind the mess, but getting the hay out of the fleece is mission impossible 😭 and it magically spreads around the house as well. No one told me that hay will be my biggest enemy 😂.

Oh my goodness, I have given up the clean cleaning of the girls every day. I used to do it morning and night. But I finally figured out I was working myself to death for no reason. As soon as I clean the cage, I turn my back and wouldn't you know, there were 8 poops already. So I spotnclean, make sure they are dry and have food and water and go from there. I now spend my time snuggling with them. 😁 Good video Scotty. thanks.

That's a really good way of keeping on top of their cleaning, no stress with scheduling which Piggies need cleaning just look in their cages and see which ones need doing but doing them every day, a good way to manage so many enclosure cleans With their pellets you can remove their bowls and scatter feed, its better for them and increases space for them to run around if they want to and measuring their pellets is so much more better for them as they can have problems with weight gain, they only need a small amount of pellets a day and with that many Piggies will save on cost too

My 3 boys go through a 10 pound bag of pellets every 5 weeks, so 2 pounds per week. I used to spot clean every single day but now Ive calmed down to every other day and cleaning the pad their hay is on every 3 days and changing it, then a full cage clean on the weekend. I have a little cordless hand vaccum that I use to clean up some poops during the week and Ill sometimes just gather their old hay and throw as much away as I can before I give them new. Theyre piggies and they constantly poop and pee, so its okay for them to have poo in there if its not too much. The fleece and washable dog pee pads I use really keep the smell to a minimum unless Im actively cleaning the cage then it kicks up all the smells.

Scotty you are always so on point!!! This is something I have been thinking about lately. I have an anxiety disorder and am quite rigid about cleaning my guineas cage. A little too obsessive even. I have to make a deliberate effort to step back and say some mess is OK! I only 2 piggies but multiple pets and a job and time has to be divided. I sometimes feel guilty, like I never have enough time for everything. I cannot imagine how you feel! My mom once gently reminded me that they have a good enclosure that DOES get cleaned, so I should focus on enjoying quality time with them over picking up every (neverending) poop. And it's true! My Poe is also now obsessed with tipping his food bowl a la Fuzz, and it drives me crazy😂 Being an owner is a big responsibility and I believe just thinking about and talking about these sorts of things shows that you are a good owner, always looking to do better.

The fleece I’ve tried always gets too gross and it’s hard to get the hay off sometimes. I do have one of those pet laundry bags that I can put them in to wash but they don’t always come out clean. So idk maybe I need to buy better fleece
@hmcampbell6 сағат бұрын
I struggle with this a lot too. I think it's just a fleece issue and the fact that hay and piggy fur is so sticky. The best I've found so far is to beat them against each other outside to get rid of loose fur and hay, go over them with either a vacuum or pet hair brush, and THEN wash them. It's a lot but idk what else to do! I'm considering buying some more fleece sets so they can be replaced more quickly and easily too🤷♀️

Glad I'm not the only one that goes that long. But I also have 4 house chickens, 3 piggies, 2 love birds and a cockatiel 😅. My piggies are mostly free range so their cage doesn't get super dirty anyway. I do sweep the floor daily.

It's called a mini split. It has to be professionally installed. Mine is a Mitsubishi but if you call around at professional air conditioning companies in your area they will be able to give you more information. It's not just something you can put up yourself

Nini and I live on the East Coast. Right now I have to refill her bottle almost every 2 days. I bought her a 'purple' STAY bowl. She doesn't tip it as much but she gnaws it. I try to be careful with giving her too many Oxbow pellets because her Angell Exotic Vets want her eating as much hay as possible. She hangs out on a pillow with her diaper pad atop it on my bed frequently. I get hay in my hair eyes, etc.

The Oxbow shortages are insane! I still can’t get 8lb bags of Garden Select from Petsmart. The shortage seems to be letting up now a little cause I was able to get 4lb bags. I didn’t know that about Vitamin C! Yes it’s all about balance. 😊 I quit giving the vitamin C cookies a while back and when I feel they need extra on top of the peppers & various veggies they get per day, I use the Child Life Vitamin C too. They LOVE it! The Healthy Snackers are a favorite too! That’s brilliant putting the liquid vitamin C on the Healthy Snacker!
