The butch lesbian who incited the stonewall uprising is believed, based on her own account and several eyewitnesses, to be Stormé DeLarverie. She was a black drag king who, after stonewall, continued to work as a bouncer for lesbian bars in Greenwich village until she was 85. She also served as a volunteer street patrol worker there and was known as the “guardian of lesbians of the village”.

It is *possible* it's Storme DeLarverie. There's no definite statement. People need to stop focusing on the individual. The importance of Stonewall wasn't one person, it was the community.

Silvera and Majors (according to their memoires and books) were in Central Park when it started. The legend of the three of them being the start came years later as recruitment tactics for activist groups each headed.

Johnson can be heard on tape stating that he didn't get to the Village until 2 AM and had to ask what was going on. Rivera didn't even get downtown until a couple weeks later and then went to GAA meeting.

Where were Gay Student Groups at colleges before Stonewall the oldest was the Student Homophile Leage at Columbia in NYC which was formed in 1966. At least one of the members, Arthur Evans, of the SHL Columbia. He was at the first GLF meeting and was and helped form and run the Gay Activist Alliance. These groups were roughly anaglogus to committees of correspondence before the revolution, not because they exchanged information between themselves, and might have been unaware of each other, but because they created a free non-expolitive place for the exchange of ideas between homosexuals that was not availble anywhere else.

We’ll get there. Just don’t make things mandatory, it causes kickback, and don’t push differences as mainstream, because that also causes resistance. If you want to dress up and parade yourself sexually, then do it. Just don’t touch anybody, or try to persuade them to be like you. 😎🥰🌍
