I’m trying to start a new segment for throwback Thursdays where I livestream a watch party for these old black sitcoms. I just need to figure out how to get around copyright infringement. Let me know your ideas. LASTLY, follow your girl on Instagram>> instagram.com/crystalalejandroo?igshid=cglu8ycp146g

Mute certain parts of the show is how most get around copyright. Also speeding up or slowing down the video, adding background and distorting the voices alittle. Please don't mute the good parts though -I watched a whole episode of something for them to mute the argument at the end that everyone was waiting to see 🤣.

you could stream it live on a platform like kast.gg or rave, kast is for desktop accessibility and rave is for mobile. people regularly stream TV shows and movies and there’s a chat room there. it’s separate from youtube so no worries about copyright. there used to be a service called rabb.it but it shut down, kast.gg is the same exact software though.

When I see fun black shows like these I can’t help but think, this is what BET should be doing. BET should be for us, we should be able to go to BET and know that our kids will be able to watch these fun black shows (not just a million reruns of baby boy 🙄). I hate that we have to rely on white networks to show us representation, when we should be doing this for ourselves.

The answer as to why they stopped making such material is IT"S TOO POWERFUL lol. I'm an 80's baby and grew up in the era to catch all of this goodness as well as when BET was good too. The powers that be study and research what black ppl respond to and how it affects us at depths and levels we'll never understand. So much positive imagery and reflection of self does wonders for the imagination of what one can achieve at youthful impressionable ages. I'm 33 now and I can say because I've seen this type of black entertainment while growing up I'm a formidable critic of what is advertised as black culture or propped up for us to watch on tv these days. I can't stomach housewives or love and hip hop type material because I've seen better and know there is better. They realized the fatal era to their supremacy by displaying even the smallest bit of positivity. It plants a seed that grows and produces the fruit for change and oh no, they can't have that lol.

The white media regressed as well at the same time, look at all the great tv shows and cartoons that were on in the 90s/early 2000s, by late 2000s cartoon network was basically over, creativity dropped dramatically, by 2011 and mostly 2013 music of every genre went downhill dramatically, and movies became soulless and devoid of creativity, the whole entertainment industry basically lost its soul, as for the reason, its probably multiple complex reasons.

@@khmur3006 Yes exactly! I think mainstream entertainment (except independent productions) has become just a money-making machine designed to appeal to the widest range of the population. That means they play it very safe and simply revamp ideas that are proven to work. Pop culture is so boring these days. I'm glad the internet has given independent creators a platform to share their work outside of established media conglomerates :)

I think the real question is "Y arent we doing this for ourselves"?. We are capable of making our own blacks shows. Too many of us are relying on the White Man to give us something we can do already. If we truly want it then we need to do it for ourselves. Promote black love & black creation, simple.

That's so Raven was LEGENDARY. It was definitely better than Lizzie Maguire lol. And the real tea is that everyone was preferring the black TV sitcoms over the white ones and whites behind the scenes who were running things most likely got jealous and cancelled it all.

@@diamndz1021 its because it feels dry like all the other modern nick shows. The laugh tracks are played after every line, and the lines themselves aren't that funny to begin with. This isn't a issue in Young Dylan solely, but in every other sitcom on the network

Christina Vidal is finally coming back to television on ABC. Thank God, I missed her for the longest. I just wish "Taina" had a more memorable run & extended seasons. Unfair how Nickelodeon treated the program & "Brothers Garcia", yet put other lameass ones ahead of it. SMH

Cartoon Network has been stepping up their game lately with having nonwhite kids as protagonists. The big one right now is Craig of the Creek, with the titular Craig being black and getting to know his middle class suburban family (Terry Crews is the dad!). It’s also really cute as the premise of the show is that pretty much all the kids in town have this epic LARP session going on by the local creek where they all play fun roles like knight, princess, ninjas, etc. Craig is an explorer and likes to draw maps of places he’s never been before. It’s fun.
