Saw them 1967 in an afternoon concert at the San Jose Civic where Quicksilver opened the show. For about 30 minutes BS was awesome. Then in the middle of a song, Young stopped playing and began yelling at Stills. The whole band stopped and Stills and Young were screaming at each other and looked ready to punch it out. I seem to remember Young swinging his guitar at the mike stand and then the amp before stomping offstage. They never came back. Then the audience began booing and yelling for their money back. Never got it.

I saw the BS at the Sarasota Auditorium at Spring Break in 1967. This was a night where they were fantastic and everything went on time with a great sound. To add to the eve, The Strawberry Alarm Clock, Bobby Goldsborough, and The Beach Boys played. A night none of us will forget!!

Nice to see this band recognized. They were a band that failed to live up to their potential but created the foundation for one of rock's supergroups.

It would have been interesting how the band adapted to the ’70s. If they had stayed together, there would be no CSNY.

The Buffalo Springfield first went in to the studio to play their songs for the record company, to see what they had to record. When they were done, & packing up to leave, the band was asked if they had any more songs. Steve Stills answered; ""Yeah, I got one, for what its worth." & played the new one he was working on. The record company called this untitled song "For What Its Worth".

Love Buffalo 🐃 Springfield and saw them at Fillmore West about 54 years ago. Neil Young walked right past me and I reached up and touched the fringe on his marvelous black suede fringe jacket that he always wore. Since that time ⏲️ I have always kept 1-2 fringe jackets in my closet. But Bruce Palmer has always been my favorite member. Rest in peace ✌ my precious Bruce Palmer.

Nice always liked Buffalo Springfield, the 60’s produced the best music hands down! I was lucky to be born in the 50's to listen to the transition of rock n roll to rock! In Chicago one minute WLS & WCFL had Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman in their top 10 and then The Beatles I want to hold your hand, the British Invasion with DC5 leading the way and a explosion of groups and sounds all original no pre plastic wrapped bands! Just fantastic music! Never to be reproduced or impact society like that again!

Only one of the best bands EVER!!! 'Mr. Soul' is a gut-crunching rocker that ultimately lead (via Cinnamon Girl, and other grinding classic hits, like Alabama etc.) to grunge, of which, Neil is now recognized as the official Godfather. My second fave of Buffalo Springfield is 'Bluebird' by Steven Stills, and a quieter one by Big Neil... 'Expecting to Fly'. Loved Dewey's snare sound in that one. Deep and crisp.

For What It's Worth is the only song I ever heard of from Buffalo Springfield. Stephen Stills and Graham Nash were members of the Hollies, a British Invasion group that was made up of Canadian and British singers until the end of 64. The group was revamped without Still and Nash and songs like He Ain't Heavy and Long Cool Woman In A Red Dress were hits. They disbanded in 1970 but reformed several times on into the 80s..

You are talking about 2 massive talents , hence 2 massive egos in Neil Young and Steve Stills. I love them both but they both had a low piss off threshold. I saw Steve Stills throw a $5000 vintage Gretsch guitar across the stage when it crapped out in the middle of his solo. The lads would do things like that from time to time. Soul man is such a better song then fwiw which everyone and their grandchildren have heard. Interesting Info. Thanks. Young is a great musician but he always strikes me as stuck up egotistical my way or no way guy. Him trying to have Rogan censored on spotify solidified that for me. I also have heard a story about young flipping out on stage at stills over something ridiculous and walked off. One of the concerts where quicksilver messenger service opened for them.. Who, imo, are better. Love qms. Cheers.
