@yeji ponytail they might be bringing in more money now but what cube ent is today has a lot to do with hyuna. her popularity back in the day was the reason why cube wanted her in their company and paid so much attention to her. if you watched this video, you'd see how popular she was and can estimate how much of a profit she brought in which in turned built the company :)

Karylle -.- Karylle -.- Thank you! This is exactly what I meant. Cube was a new company and recruited Hyuna as a way to draw public interest. And it worked. After the success of 4minute, Cube debuted BEAST months after. After Hyuna’s debut in 4minute, the public interest in Cube Entertainment’s idol groups was piqued, which arguably led to the success of the company. Also, as an individual artist, Hyuna was the most recognizable figure in the company, often being referred to as Cube’s Queen. I mean, she was recognized internationally due to her appearance in Gangnam Style. Also, it’s a mistake to only look at Sales. An idol makes most of their money off CF/brand deals and Hyuna’s brand value was through the roof during her era.

I still have my selfie with HyunA in my phone and I printed it out and put in on my mirror. She is a goddess! I still can remember when she tried to speak English and laugh so loud when she realized she said something senseless and just say "mianhae. don't english" hahaha anyway, Cube became haughty because they have G-IDLE who is consider as monster rookies of this gen. CLC is also doing quite well too even before "No". They just decided to kick HyunA because they have new cash cows now.

Looking back, it was prominent that HyunA was overly sexualised by her companies. In her debut with Wonder Girls, she wore the shortest skirt despite being one of the maknaes. It continued in Cube Ent., her solo debut was sexy and “provocative” even though she was not at a legal age yet in Korea. Troublemaker pushed it further, she was 19-20 and she was already kissing a guy for a music video. If this happened in this current era, it would be a big scandal.

Hyuna paved the way for sexy concepts. I shouldn't forget other great female artists contributed , but hyuna was literally consistent. Hyuna and edawn paved the way for dating scandals. No. They are bad in promoting older groups (see GOT7. They lost fame. They were really popular in korea etc but not anymore) Also he doesn't promote his solo artists. They have problems with sexulizing underaged idols and fat shaming.

Just a few years ago when I was 16 orso I really disliked Hyuna, since I went from bubble pop to seeing all her sexier songs and was horrified, until I saw videos of interviews with her and how much of a sweetheart she is and her talent. And honestly I was still bopping to her songs whilst hating her so that already proves something lmao. So now she's one of my favourite solo artists EVER, and even though I'm personally not a very ''sexy'' person, her music really gave me confidence to go wild, she definitely is god! Really hope her solo will come soon, would LOVE it if she'd also have a song with E-dawn, since Fresh is still one of my all time bops
