You are wrong. Opie's mother was mentioned on more than one episode. Example - When Aunt Bea is dating the dry cleaner man, Opie asks Andy if Aunt Bea and her "interest" has the same kind of love as Andy and his mom. Barney mentions Andy being a widower in a few episodes. So you failed miserably on this one.

What happened to Opie's mom is a very misleading headline to get people to listen to what they already know about the show without talking about what we were tricked into looking at at this plug for the andy griffith show which is quite frankly dishonest and a waste of time.

Yes Frances retired in NC and lived in Siler City, but she was not reclusive at all. She could often be seen shopping, and just generally out enjoying the surrounding towns. She was always approached by fans everytime she went out, and was receptive, and appreciated the attention graciously interacting, and answering questions. What a wonderful lady.

Here is something you probably didn't know. Howard McNear's role was not as a slow speaking absent minded barber originally. If you catch him in the first season he is as quick witted and spunky as anyone else. He did suffer a stroke between seasons that made him slow like that but Andy didn't want him to be let go from the show. If you notice in later seasons when he speaks slowly like that he is always sitting down in his scenes. Andy didn't want him to strain himself either.

On one episode it stated that Andy and Barney were cousins!

I was on my way to mention this. It was established near the start of the 1st season, possibly the pilot ep. Then quickly forgotten and made best friends. How could you guys miss this but of trivia? 😉

This is true I think it was the first episode where Opie's Nanny is moving away to get married and Andy brings Aunt Bee to help around the house with Opie. Also if you watch the Pilot Episode Francis B. Aunt Bee is in it but she plays a different character not Aunt Bee.

@@dnvelocity3916 No after episode one they re-wrote it so they were not cousins. Watch episode one and Andy and Barney are standing in the driveway talking about being cousins.

I think Elinor Donahue is the only living member of the cast (2-19-21) who was an adult during the show's run. Also, Don Knotts is from Morgantown, West Virginia, a town about 18 miles from me. In fact Morgantown has a Fife Avenue.

As of July 23, 2022 Elinor Donohue is still alive. I was 9 years old during the short time she was on TAGS, and i had a big crush on her!! Really upset when she got the boot for lack of chemistry with Andy. She still a very regal looking lady in her old age.

Lotta comments on pics and content but the subject is the real point. This show brings back memories of sitting on the floor in front of the tv as a kid. Back when a remote was throwing a slipper at your younger brother to change the channel or move the antenna. The situations and performers made you laugh. I watch the show regularly on Netflix and wondered if it would be removed because no one watched but now I know it's still popular

Jim Nabors left the Andy Griffith Show quite early in the show's run to star in Gomer Pyle USMC. This video made it sound like Gomer Pyle came after Andy Griffith ended. Not so.
