You are wrong. Opie's mother was mentioned on more than one episode. Example - When Aunt Bea is dating the dry cleaner man, Opie asks Andy if Aunt Bea and her "interest" has the same kind of love as Andy and his mom. Barney mentions Andy being a widower in a few episodes. So you failed miserably on this one.

What happened to Opie's mom is a very misleading headline to get people to listen to what they already know about the show without talking about what we were tricked into looking at at this plug for the andy griffith show which is quite frankly dishonest and a waste of time.

It's also annoying that most of the video is showing a lot of random people who are not on the show at all. It would have been much more enjoyable if they'd shown all clips of actors on the show. It really makes no sense the way this was done.

Yes Frances retired in NC and lived in Siler City, but she was not reclusive at all. She could often be seen shopping, and just generally out enjoying the surrounding towns. She was always approached by fans everytime she went out, and was receptive, and appreciated the attention graciously interacting, and answering questions. What a wonderful lady.

Here is something you probably didn't know. Howard McNear's role was not as a slow speaking absent minded barber originally. If you catch him in the first season he is as quick witted and spunky as anyone else. He did suffer a stroke between seasons that made him slow like that but Andy didn't want him to be let go from the show. If you notice in later seasons when he speaks slowly like that he is always sitting down in his scenes. Andy didn't want him to strain himself either.

Oh that reminds me he was supposed to be married ss well. The show intro'd his son... But lster on.the show showed him as s bachelor as he eas s mrmber of a Lonely Hearts Club. He introduced Andy ss his older son than Opie as Andy's kid brother...tjis episode was a bit sillynin that perspective but thr fact Floyd was married with acdon was ignored. Oh well that is sitcoms for you.

Andy's wife died while giving birth to Opie or shortly after. We know this from the first pilot opening episode when Rose got married and Aunt Bee came to take her place. Opie didn't want any part of her but warmed up to her at the end. Andy and Opie spoke of his mother time to time in a couple of early episodes but not in later years. This show is one of the best ever made.

I liked when a stranger comes to town in season one and everyone is scared because he knows all about the town though he has never been there. I liked the one when Barney is being threatened by bully who wants to beat Barney when he is out of his uniform. A Judo expert dresses like Barney and the bully thinks it is Barney. Aunt Bee bought the house that belonged to my mom's doctor in Siler City, NC. She was not very well liked there, and I understand why. She's buried in the same cemetary as my mom and stepdad. When fans visit, they bring jars of pickles instead of flowers to her grave. Kinda fits her personality.

Lotta comments on pics and content but the subject is the real point. This show brings back memories of sitting on the floor in front of the tv as a kid.
