Man, I have lived in 20 cities, 7 states, including Orlando. Lived in S.O.B.T back in 2003, me and my aunt were kidnapped, I saw drive by shootings, open air prostitution, trash and needles everywhere. We had to leave because detectives showed up saying they had intel that some hit men thought that the previous tenant was in our apartment still and that we were in grave danger. BRO!!!, worst hood ever!, ive been to Camden, Philly, Brooklyn, Hartford, opa locka, you name it, 2003 Orlando was NO JOKE!, especially SOBT area!! I NEVER felt the fear I did living there for 6 months, till this day, anywhere!, thats a bad ass hood, just not sure if its changed, but man it was 10/10 dangerous.

I visited Orlando last week and went downtown on a Sunday evening. I walked around Lake Eola and there were a lot of people out walking there. The rest of downtown seemed pretty quiet though. I wasn’t very impressed with Orlando as a city though. You have your tourist attractions all condensed in one spot with all theme parks and resorts and little housing. The residential areas near the touristy areas seemed pretty run down and grimey. There are lots of dollar stores, smoke shops, and the likes. Going into the trip, I was picturing Orlando to be a bit more suburban and upscale, and it was not like how I had imagined it to be.

Orlando used to be much better full of orange groves really nice hotels and resorts quiet quaint neighborhoods it was like the suburbs Walt Disney World was more of a magical place but the immediate area around Disney world has always been congested. Since the 90s However within the last 3 years the immediate area surrounding Disney and Orlando has gone downhill in a major way Ron DeSantis has been against Orlando and Disney World and has made a total mess of normal funding some areas have become transient homeless people taxes have gone up prices of homes have gone up and prices of condos and hotels and Resorts have gone insane with their pricing many people blame Joe Biden for the economy which I have to agree there right but it also doesn't help to have a non-supportive governor for the people all because he does not care for Disney World and has a personal Vendetta against it. Orlando has not been the same since. It's kind of sad the way you described how you thought Orlando would be because actually that's how it used to be. But again as of the last three years it has definitely suffered a major decline.

Unfortunately the homeless just isn't in the "hoods" I see it EVERYWHERE throughout Orlando from Altamonte Springs, Disney district, Paramore, Downtown.. it's the single mother that's sitting at Wawa or strolling in the malls that got evicted from her high rent apartment.. it's the families living in the woods or van.. it's the 5 families shacking up in a one bedroom apartment to afford rent.. they are the many people you think are just waiting for the bus.. yeah Orlando's homeless problem is WAY worse than it looks

First, there is a history of transients (homeless) that invade Orlando in the winter, has always been an issue. I was just with a group of visitors who were amazed at the vibrant, prosperous neighborhoods in the city. West Orlando, Pine Hills and Orange Blossom Trail are not the best areas of town. If you would have been on East Colonial into Mills 50 and drove Mills Ave North into Winter Park and Maitland it would have been totally different. You seemed to be intent on comparing LA's issues with Orlando. Every American city and the entire country is suffering from the homeless crisis and it's a sad sad thing. Also 2023 has started out as another record year for tourism in Orlando, so lack of tourists is untrue.

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I don't know what the issue was when you were here, but instead of the Central Business District you need to go into the thriving city neighborhoods in the downtown area. Mills 50, Ivanhoe Village, Milk District, College Park, SoDo and Thornton Park to name a few. Winter Park and Maitland are very busy a few miles north. Pine Hills is a ghetto neighborhood, most of the west side is. And the homeless come south for the warm weather in winter. The local homeless camps ( which are huge, unfortunately, are mostly hidden in patches of woods and aren't really downtown, a lot on the Eastside. Peace

In a time when the economy across the board in the whole US was at it's best early 90's. When most infrastructure was brand new and clean. Especially Fl, Orlando always sucked. I was living in South Fla at time near Stuart. And we got some some great radio stations from Orlando that I liked. WOMX Mix 105, 98.9 WMMO, WWLV Love 94.5 Daytona, Magic 107.7, Sunny 101.1 WSTF from Cocoa Bch/ Space Coast, All 5 because of the Cent Fla radio towers all being 100kw at at least 1600 ft boomed into Stu. And because its flat as a pancake except NW going toward Ocala. In Orl proper you got 4 more stations. You get Tampa at time W-101 WUSA, Mix 95.7 , NW you get 98.5KTK, and used to be Ocala's 93.7 WMMZ Z-93. Before they blew it up and changed to country in 1994. How do I know? I was supposed to be their evening jock. Until they fired everyone incl my future boss. All 9 of these stations were Adult Contemp and Hot Ac stations. Which was rare to have so many in any radio US market. Only SF, Pitt because they are both on hills, and Chicago had so many. So spent a week up there about 100 miles nw of me by Stuart. Check out the area see if I wanted to try it out. It was a huge disappointment. Outside the Orange Blossom Trail, which kind of reminded me of Dade- NW 2nd Av between Palmetto and Broward line back then. 167th St and 215. Poverty, and blight in Orlando never were camouflaged. It was the 1st Fl city that scared the hell out of me. Even Overtown Miami's worst hood was not as scary looking. Liberty City was only area that reminded me of Orlando. I don't know if Disney and industry that moved in since 90's has helped. Or made it worse. But you couldn't pay $1 mil to ever live in O. I could always say same about St Pete, Ft Myers, Sarasota, Ocala, Gainesville, Daytona, Titusville, Tally, and most of Jax as well. Though when in radio I survived 6 mos living off Dunn @95, not far from Jax Intl. Back then Tampa was not good, I heard its improved. West Palm was mostly hood, so was/is Ft L, Miami anything outside downtown was crap. Especially whole NW anything. But even NE was very seedy esp by Biscay, US 1 all the way up to NMB.

As a born and raised Orlandoan i hate to say it but it's all the transplants and snowbirds that ruined this place. Im fortunate to live in a neighborhood of home owners and very few renters for over 20 years now and have always noticed people coming from the Caribbean, Northeast or Midwest kinda brought the trash with them they were trying to leave behind. They don't have southern hospitality particularly those from the northeast. They're rude with no concept of taking care of their homes or lawns guessing because they're not used to coming from a city. And the driving is almost like im in some third world country at times. There's still some nice development in some areas but this place is really just a miniature borderline third world tourist destination. I still like it here guess because im already comfortable in my neighborhood but the second i leave my little bubble at times i just want to rent my home out and move.

It's grown a lot here since I moved up here to Palm Bay in 2009. Back then Melbourne was still just kind of a small city. Now though, it's becoming a huge epicenter along the east coast of Florida for commercial business, tech jobs, education, construction, retirement, and just a place for younger people to be at. It's a fast growing area and places like Palm Bay and nearby Viera have new houses and shopping centers popping up left to right. I see Melbourne on par with Sarasota and Fort Myers In that the area is becoming a much more attractive place in the state for people to move to.

It's off season bro. All the Kids are in school. Tourist season is mainly summer break with the attractions.. best time imop. But yeah Orlando's homeless problem is out of control because the leadership is doing nothing about it.

Hope and Pray we never become Homeless Not everyone homeless is bad not everyone can make tons of money not everyone has a high paying job a youtuber or very successful.. some of the greatest people barely make it day to day not enough good paying jobs with the cost of living. Prayers for all homeless people hope they mostly make it out bc all won't there are to many rich people in Florida for anyone to be homeless. If every wealthy or Rich person did their part 2 get atleast 1 family or person off the street homelessness would almost go away.We Have to be GratefullThankfullBlessed for God's Grace N Mercy for our Roof etc. And Every humans matter no matter their money status or the neighborhood they live in. JESUS SAYS US ❤

Orlando was pretty busy during New Year's but quickly has dwindled down for 2023. I believe it to be for several factors. Number one the economy is gone to crap. And people are being very careful how they spend their money. Especially after Christmas now. Secondly Orlando has been getting a lot of bad rap from Governor Ron DeSantis. So a lot of people that used to go there feel uncomfortable to be there because they're afraid that they will be threatened or mistreated particularly those of the lgbtq population. While at the same time people that are completely against lgbtq don't want to be there because they have listened to all the propaganda hype Ron DeSantis keeps putting out.. So hopefully this is just a adjustment. For Orlando but it's been a double whammy for the whole area as far as tourist go. That's my take on the situation anyway many others may have a different opinion. There's also been a switch to cruising from seeing the amusement parks because Cape Canaveral has been growing with tourism. In addition I believe many people will start coming back when the weather returns back to normal hot Florida sunny weather.🌅🏰

Los Angeles have lot more homeless tents then any place in America I lived there in 2017-2019 now back in NYC and I’m from Orlando Florida …can’t compare….but never seen what is shown in this video in my hometown Orlando before.. no one can afford to live there anymore which is the reason for the increased homeless population.

This is really a sad development! It's what happens when you have skyrocketing home and rental prices. Florida's unsustainable boom will settle down but then poverty will likely boom too, with likely still unaffordable prices even if they go down significantly.

I see most buying homes and starting businesses. Specially the ones that came after maria. If i ever see a homeless puerto rican i will let you know.. I specifically seek out puerto ricans for their amazing food and music and car shows. If anything they gave orlando more life. Granted they are kinda violent but thats just something to keep the tourists from getting too fresh with the locals. I don’t mind them.
