The Jets played fine. They just weren't prepared for the buzzsaw that is the Avs. I wasn't worried that the Avs would lose this series. I was more concerned with how many goals they would need to score to overcome Georgiev's goaltending.

Anyone who wants to blame injuries. Don't forget the Avs were without Drouin and Logan O'Connor. 2 Key pieces of that team.

Saying Hellebuck diden't play well becuse of his save% is pretty silly. Watch the goals that were scored. Hellebuck wasn't bad the AVS just score against anyone. Also a ton of pp goals on on dumb penalties.

The Avalanche are a scary team. Can you imagine if Gabriel Landeskog hadn't been injured for the last 2 years?!

Not to take anything away from Hellebuyck, but Brossoit is also an amazing goalie. My husband and I have been asking ourselves all season why the Jets don’t play Brossoit even just a little bit more. Not because Hellebuyck sucks, because he doesn’t. But because rest is so important! (Especially in your 30s with little kids.) Brossoit barely plays and he got 3 shutouts this season. On 23 games! His GAA this season was 2.00. I think a lot of that is because he doesn’t have to do it every night. I’ve also been frustrated by the coaching team not adapting to what does and doesn’t work and the absolute trash power play all season. Obviously I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes, but several players mentioned the same thing in their pressers. It’s been so sad to watch how good the Jets could be this season and then see none of that in the playoffs. I’d also just like to rant a bit about how Pionk played every single game and Perfetti was out for a really long time AND we got Miller from the Devils and just benched him. Also, let Nikolaj Ehlers do his thing! One more thing-I know we don’t have the big star forwards like Matthews or McDavid or MacKinnon but I like that our goals are more democratically distributed. That’s one of the biggest reasons I love this team.

This series reminded me of Oilers vs Flames from 22 playoffs. Just like the Oilers lost game1 but completely broke Markstrom. Avs lost game1 but absolutely destroyed Hellyebuck.

Lambert,Magroaty,Perfetti, Chibrikov, Barlow that will be used as ether potential spots to take over position in top 9 or bring in big players.... so gong forward it' won't be running it back with the same group it will be fast acting and aggressive. When Chevy signed Schief and hellaybuck is was a un spoken conversation of we're winning the cup whay ever it takes.....

Dangle, awesome to hear what you said about the AVS trade deadline adds. The run the AVS had after the trade deadline should have been what the league recognized as which AVS team could possibly show up for playoffs. Seems most underestimated the AVS and only paid attention to the last 9 games the AVS played of the season. I'm not going to sit here and say the AVS backed off during the last 9 games, as home ice advantage going in against the Jets would have been huge, but I'm equally conflicted about what actually went down at the end of the season. Credit to the AVS coaching staff for the first round, dominating win.

Here's a question, do these stupid start times for broadcasting effect a players routine? The Jets actually played their home games on Colorado time. As a fan I just really didn't get into the home games like I should have. During the regular season, these home games would have been half way over with a 7pm start time instead of 8:30 pm. It was just a thought, cause start times could be a part of home ice advantage. And I'm saying the outcome would've been different, just central time teams and fans I feel are getting a little screwed over.

I had the avs all the way. I'm not an avalanche fan but they just have such an advantage in terms of team matchup. Like you get the Winnipeg side, you have good skaters and a great goalie and on the Avalanche side, you have a great defense and a great offense. When a team can't produce enough pressure to stop another team from selecting shots and that team can shoot through a screen, the goalie doesn't matter. You could have had any goalie in the league playing with the Jets and if you have McKinnon and my car with space shooting through screens without pressure that goalie has no chance. To me. It was a really bad matchup for Winnipeg. If I'm Winnipeg, the teams I wouldn't want to match in the first round are Colorado and Florida

I think the Jets series was less a matter of Hellebuyck playing poorly, because I really don't think he did, and more a matter of the Jets defense simply being unable to match the Avalanche's stepped-up intensity on offense. Hellebuyck made many excellent saves, but the Avalanche just kept coming.

First off Monahan/Toffoli/Miller were waste of picks we could have floated into playoffs without them and locker clean out interviews you can tell are leaving. Brossoit earned starter somewhere,Dillon wasn't happy says wants to win,Hellebuyck seemed like if team has one more season lile this he could ask out. Demelo said he has a family likes it here and wants to stay. The jets need to trade Ehlers for a top 2 dman or get a 1b center examples Sanheim,provorov,Romanov, or take chance younger guy. And centers like Reinhart,Kadri,Horvat,Barzal types I'm not sold Lindholm/Guentzel. Become more top heavy and quit giving AHL players NHL time The last 3 years we haven't been pushing prospects into NHL like Heinola,Chisholm,Lambert,Chibrikov,Lucius,Mcgroarty,Barlow,Salmonsson,Milic.

This was a year where they really should have dropped Hellebuyck down to like 55 games. Broissoit was great this season, there’s no point to run your starter into the ground. The rest of the team was a bigger issue than he was but still, this was only round 1. If they were hoping to go deep that would be like another month of hockey.

Trading Ehlers and Pionk would free up $12 million to get an unreal defensemen if one was available and willing to play in the peg. I have no idea who that would be though

Hellebuyck was overworked in the regular season and it made the Jets Defense look much better that it actually is. Morrissey is the only one who showed up for the the playoffs - everyone else got absolutely fried

I would want my startinh goaltender to play max 65 starts a season. 60 would be better. And 22 for the backup. No point of overworking your starting goaltender unless the backup is horroble.

Hellebyuck wasn't the issue. It was Bowness and Winnipeg putting all of their eggs in one basket by extending Scheifele. Scheifele is good, but he's not elite. Monahan and Toffoli also did barely anything.

It was a strange series, it would be tied 2-2 or Jets up 2-1 in 2nd or 3rd, when the floodgates would open. The jets would a) make entirely uncharacteristic giveaways behind the net, and bad line changes (Game 2); take 5 straight penalties in the third in the offensive zone, or puck over glass (Game 3); not show up at all, more bad penalties, and not make the check on Makar who was lined up, coming down the ice (Game 4); ugly own goal and odd man rushes for Mackinnon line in the 3rd when facing elimination after doing a reasonably good job of avoiding that the whole series (Game 5). There was an odd tendency to not get the puck on Georgiev who everyone suspected was the weakest link for the Avs, except in game 1. The jets played their worst hockey of the year in my opinion

Jets didn’t have the best defense. It was propped up by Hellebuyck’s goaltending.

Winnipeg is pepetually stuck in the middle. They do not want to do a rebuild with their young talent as ownership is worried about fan support (even when they were in 1st). They have 1 great defenseman and 2 solid ones (Demelo/ Dillon) and then they have $12 million tied up in Pionk and Schmidt for next year. Perfetti was on a solid track but did not dress until game 5? You have to give young talent time to grow but also expose them to real NHL time to find out if they will make it or not.

It’s not so much that the Jets played poorly ( definitely not well enough), it’s more that Colorado is a steamroller wagon that’s gonna take the cup.

If Bowness goes I think Chevy has to go too. Cannot let him hire the next coach.

It could be good to sell Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler or change them for some other players and build New Winnepeg Jets team surround other players finally.
