What happened when I used Olay 24 Retinol Cream on my Rosacea Sensitive Skin!

I had been avoiding using a retinol on my sensitive skin for many years, because I also have Rosacea. I was so afraid it would make my sensitive skin react or my Rosacea flare.
I asked my dermatologist about starting a retinol and she recommended a gentle retinol cream like Olay 24 Retinol Cream, would be a good place to start and see how my sensitive skin reacted.
I am happy to report that many months after starting this routine, my is still doing really well!
For my night-time skin care routine, I apply Olay 24 retinol cream *every other night, after washing my face, and follow up with CeraVe moisturizing cream to make sure my sensitive rosacea-prone skin has enough moisture locked in to keep my skin barrier healthy.
I am so happy I can use this gentle retinol on my sensitive skin and that it's not irritating to my rosacea! Hooray for ‪@olay‬ !

I use this Olay Retinol 24 every night daily. Whenever my skin feels a little dry or uncomfortable, I would use a moisturizer like Cerave Moisturizing Cream or Physiogel DMT Cream as a buffer. Well, I feel good about it even though I only have been doing this routine for 8 days as of now (still gonna continue it). BTW my cleanser is Cetaphil Gentle Foaming Cleanser.

is it oily I use vitamin c for my freakles and aloe-vera gel which is very good for skin neutrogena in night time and day even though it just says night and every other day ordinary liquid serums to see the difference but still prefer neutrogena than ordinary night and morning after then lightweight none grezzy sunscreen lotions, Vaseline it's not bad if you want to keep eyes from loosing moisture inn skin after getting out shower use a tiny amount of Vaseline that's holds in the moisture you'll loose in the shower most products are hit and miss ,when younger only need none grezzy moisturiser and a none shinny sunscreen in day ,but when you get older a vitamin c or hyloronic acid serums are excellent for holding in water 💧 or moisture then a sunscreen that suits your skincare needs

Purging is actually normal with retinol..incorporate retinol slowly like once a week then after a few weeks, twice a week and so It will take atleast 3 to 5 months to actually see the results

that's awesome! I got so the vitamin c was a little too much for my skin. I may try diluting it a little with moisturizer. I still love my Olay 24!

Hi what level of retinol user would i need to be for this product? Like beginner intermediate or advanced? And does it work for dry skin?

I have dry skin ,i use only olay retinol with small amount at first week & only use that at night .after woke cleanse & use moisturizer cuz its dry but its not that so dry ,just normal .i didnt have any problem use it .i hope it can reduce my scar .

When I first started using Olay 24 I was a beginner, as I had never used a retinol on my skin before. Because this product doesn't contain a high amount of retinol my dermatologist said it was something good to start with. If your skin is dry, I would try starting slowly (like every other night) and either add another moisturizer BEFORE you apply the Olay (as a buffer between your skin and the retinol cream) or AFTER you apply the Olay, to give your skin extra protection. I got dermatitis after using L’Oréal revitalift creams.. now since 1 and half year I can’t Apply anything on my face, I get rashes.. I don’t know if I can try this

Nah it’s not dermatitis. It is more of your sunblock. Use mineral sunblock and use oil cleanser then double cleanse with gentle soap. Use la Roche posay b5 serum followed by B5 balm you will thank me later.

Yes, absolutely use sunscreen and not just because you're using a retinol. Sunscreen truly is needed every single day. :)

Hi! The retinol cream is supposed to be used in small amounts or it may irritate, so for me, I choose to add moisturizer on top of the retinol cream. Without it, my face doesn’t feel quite moisturized enough.

I have not dabbed it directly under my eyes, but I do get a little bit in that area when I put it on my face in general. I don't know what the differences are between their retinol cream and their night eye cream, but this is what I found from Olay's website- "Should you use retinol under your eyes? Yes, definitely. While it is true that retinol - a form of vitamin A - is a powerful ingredient and that the skin under your eyes is delicate, there’s no reason why you should miss out on the amazing benefits of retinol. Olay has developed Retinol24 Night Eye Cream so you can experience a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Keep in mind, because the skin around the eyes is extremely delicate, you need an eye cream that’s specifically developed for this area. Using your regular moisturiser instead can be risky because the skin around the eyes is particularly delicate." Hope that helps! Shannon

Hi! The great news is my skin did not get irritated at all using a retinol. I was so afraid of trying one because of my sensitive, rosacea-prone skin, but this formula seems to be gentle enough that I haven’t had any irritation at all! I’ve been using it for 6 weeks now (every other night) and my skin is still doing great!

Oh no, was it a defective cap? The inner plastic cover can be a bit tricky to get open, as it creates kind of a suction.

Hi Linda - yes I use CeraVe cream on my face. :) The formulation is fine for body or face, it just comes down to preference. It might be too thick for some people, but for me, I love it. It isn't too heavy - it dissolves as I put it on and it keeps my skin soft and skin barrier protected. I used to use a lighter moisturizer (Vanicream lite lotion) but found it just didn't give me enough protection.
