I am from a private tier 2 b.tech college but I got in ITC Infotech as software engineer .Even many seniors from my college got in L&T etc type core company and some even got chance in psu like aai ,ISRO by their talent .So it is upto a individual capabilities and interest

I suggestion to all school going students- if you want to do engineering then take computer science! (Bcz other branch engineers also join IT companies, bcz of limited scope/jobs in non CS fields)

One of My brother was not at IIT not even in colleges of big cities but he worked really hard over his minors (he doesn't even have a major in any subject) but he still has a 1 cr package and he lives in USA SEE there is more to life then IIT Just stay happy and don't stress so much. You're going to make it! Just do what you love

Cracking India's toughest exam for "brand value" and 8-9 lac pakage is fullish. If you take 2 graduates one from IIT and second from National Defence Academy. I don't have to say who will have better brand value and respect.

The students that are studying in IITs mostly get the opportunity to grab a high package in a product based company. Because most of the big companies visit IIT s first to hire employees and then they will go to some B grade colleges where they may hire 1-2 students. That is why it is often seen that students who are working in a product based company and is not from an IIT background are generally much more better in their field even than their seniors working with them. Because they really worked hard and got an off campus placement.. 🎓

Real review from a Mech post graduate Alumni: 1. Mess ka (IIT KGP) khaana tatti hota hai ekdum. 1.5 saal me badal gaya ho toh baat alag hai. Time pe na jao roh patli daal milti hai, Sambhar paani jaisa. Roti machine pe aadhi kachchi. Chawal kha ke kaam chalate hain. Canteens kewal raat me khulti hain, aur sab jagah se soch ke rakhna padta hai kahan theek thaak khana milta hai. Classes: core engg branches ka syllabus 15 saal se update nahi hua hota hai, Professors ko ghanta fark nahi padta material relevant hai ki nahi, practical aur industrial exposure 2 mahine se kuch nahi hota, koi bhi real life industrial problem ke liye laafi kam hai. Sabse bada scam hai B Tech M Tech projects hai, Dono me jam ke plagiarism hota hai aur professors grunt work karate hain. M Tech thesis isliye publically accessible nahi hai. Students ka attitude bhi bas job waala hai, achche students ko Maggu bolte hain. Competitions aur clubs waala point sahi hai par wo toh har achchi university me hai. CS branch ya Finance ke alawa placement ki lagi padi rehti hai.
