The winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere occurs around December 21st. But why is winter in the Northern Hemisphere colder than the Southern Hemisphere, even though the Earth is closer to the sun.

Yvng J It’s basically something which happens every 20 years. What makes it even more significant is this one is the last one in this age, and that’s like hundreds of years in between each other. I’m new to this too lol, this is just what I leaned so far. Supposedly next age is Aquarius and the sun will drastically change along with the world. End times stuff

@@TheAbdi9312 every 20 years? the winter and summer solstice happens every year... the winter solstice is the day with the least amount of daylight and the summer solstice is the day with the most daylight.. you are probably referring to some astrology malarky to do with the twelve houses of the zodiac. stop watching so many conspiracy vids on youtube.

you show earth globe spinning left to right? Clockwise. When viewed from off planet, it supposedly rotates, right to left, or counterclockwise?
@Littlewing6was9
@Littlewing6was9 4 жыл бұрын
That's the narrative, yes. Anticlockwise at 1000mph
@DrCrabfingers
@DrCrabfingers Жыл бұрын
'Viewed off planet'.....just trying to wrap my puny mind around that. Earth rotates in an easterly direction...it's why the sun comes up in the East and sets in the West...wherever you are. If you are viewing Earth from the Northern Pole....the planet is moving counter-clockwise. If you are viewing Earth from the Southern Pole the planet is moving clock-wise. Viewed from a distant point Earth would spin from left to right upon its axis whilst also moving in an orbit around the star at the core of the solar system...therefore clock-wise or anti clock-wise depends upon ones position relative to the Earth's poles.
@DrCrabfingers
@DrCrabfingers Жыл бұрын
@@Littlewing6was9 No. On both regards. Both the speed, and your comparison to a clock is incorrect. Speed is relative. The speed of the Earth's rotation is different at the equator compared to the poles....relative to a third point. The third point would see enormously more surface area pass by in 24hrs at the equator than the surface area of the poles in the same time period. Clock-wise or anti-clockwise is dependant upon the observers view relative to the axis of revolution. At the equator the speed of the Earth is 1670 km/hr (1037miles/hr).
