What happens if I make a new possession ability for banshee?
Stuns a target unit and the Banshee for 4 seconds, during which the Banshee takes extra damage from attacks. She then displaces the soul of the enemy, giving you permanent control of it, but destroying the caster's body. Possession cannot be used on flying units, Heroes, or creeps above level 5.

@@Fyrebrand18 It is very useful on mages and alike because it gives you free upgrades as long as it aint your own main race. Note armor/attack upgrade is not included

You may have heard this already, or already have it set, but I would remove the host killing button or make it have a really low health requirement, like 10% or 15%. Because honestly the best move would just be hopping into a body and executing the host, and then hopping into another body, and repeat. Kind of defeats the entire purpose of what you're going for.

I made a custom melee game which included a banshee-type unit similar to this. They had no attack on their own and were slow and vulnerable, but could possess corpses in order to turn into skeleton archers (with low health and moderate damage). When they died, the banshee would re-appear and could (after a short delay) re-possess another nearby corpse in order to become a skeleton archer again and resume the fight. They were basically the tier 1.5 ranged unit for the undead race. I had issues with multiple banshees targeting the same corpse and the like, but it was cool when it worked properly.

This is 100% how banshees should work. One thing that Relic got right with the Down of War RTS (like Dark Crusade) was the unique unit cap, like one land raider per space marine army. This was really cool b/c while not a hero unit itself, it was a unique unit fitting of the lore. Here in WC3 they could make banshees like this, unit cap at 3 per army with the ability to "jump" across possessions, when the possessed unit dies the banshee pops out again. That way they wouldn't be total shite like they are in game right now.

I did the same thing but with a hero. The caveat to my possession ability is that he can't jump around units like that, when he get out of their host he will return to where the spell is cast and when the host dies, so does the hero. I wonder how this one would work since possession ability kills the user upon cast (I tried that with the hero, and I need to revive him lmao). Do you use JASS and the Channel Ability?

Ability kills the user upon cast because i use condition in Trigger if host's health is below 100 will kills host instantly. One thing I don't know how to write JASS but i just edit native ability + Trigger(Event, Conditional , Action).

@@awesomegamehood8332 yeah Possession kills the unit. So I instead opted to use Charm Ability. When cast, my hero is turned into Neutral Passive, Invisible and put in the corner of the map while the player is now tied to the the unit they charmed. My question is how did the banshee returned after posession? Did you trigger it so another one is created?

I am not the uploader but I can explain briefly. Go to Object Editor and make adjustments to "Possession" as desired. Then use triggers to give newly possessed units the ability.

@@viliaquasa9560 I can explain. 1) Go to Object Editor and remove the tech requirements and mana cost. 2) Go to Trigger Editor and make a trigger like this: Events: "Unit - A unit is possessed". Events: "Unit - Give unit ability". Give the newly possessed unit Possession. Super easy.

Actually, this is not beginner level. P.S.: The main problem with this would be "bug fixing". P.S.S.: Needless to say how full with bugs showed Ability is.
