If your asylum case is denied and you are still in status such as an F1 or J1, then you can continue on your previous status. If you are not in status, you will have to go to immigration court for deportation proceedings.
If you have to go to immigration court, you will have to prove your case to an immigration judge. This will be much harder than your initial interview.
