Hi Jim. Thanks for a good work, you are really helping a lot of us out here. My question is what if a person is being persecuted in a third country because of his Nationality, is that a strong case to file for an asylum?

Hi Jim, I filed for asylum and I didn't have a lawyer at the beginning thus I messed up in my case and at the end my case was found frivolous even though the judge found my argument true. However, the judge granted me withholding of removal. It's been more than 10 years and I'm stuck because this thing It's a death sentence.

Hello dr. how are u? I am Adventist and in Brazil and over there it's very hard for me to find a job because of my religion. Many employees like my resume but don’t approve me in the interview because I don’t work on Saturdays. I am in an exchange program working over here in the US and here I was very welcome about my religious position. Do you think I am able to ask for asylum?

Jim, do you have to be in status, to qualify for asylum? Thus, If you out of status--do you still qualify to apply for asylum?

As long as you apply within a year after your visa expires you will still qualify. Even if it’s been over a year you may still qualify if there are extenuating circumstances. See more info here: www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/refugees-and-asylum/asylum/obtaining-asylum-in-the-united-states

A very useful tips and guides! Sir, I am an Afghan a recent arrival into USA with holding Notice of removal because we entered to USA through border of California. My court hearing to see judge is on 2025. Would you please help with it??

Does Race applies to whom a person is married to? For instance if an Foreign born individual has married and different race and gets beat up for marrying outside thier national origin be considered for discrimination

Dear honorable sir I hope you are doing well I'm siddhartha das from India, i was seaman and c1d visa holder, currently I'm staying in United States. I was afraid to go back my country after finish my seaman contract. My community, my neighbours always harassing me because who I'm. They threat me to kill 2 times, I'm a GAY. But they don't accept me however in india we have law for us. But still I'm harassing last few years. Please do let me know what should i do in this scenario. Warm regards Siddhartha das
