I am not an antivaxxer, I’ve already taken the booster shot, but when vaccines were open to children, I fully understand parents’ worrying. I would be hesitant too. I’m glad we don’t judge these parents.

Absolutely zero reason to give this to kids...they are not at risk. Why, parents, would you do this to your kids? To follow orders? To give the pharma companies even higher profits? They're now talking about giving it to newborns...this has to stop.

Telling partial truth is the same as lying. The truth is that there is NO long term data. Knowing this, but still pushing for short term side effect data single-mindedly, while avoiding the whole truth, is irresponsible. Thumb up for the responsible first mother. And for the reporter to hide behind a ten-year-old on this decision?? That doesn't sound very responsible. At least own the decision as guidance for your own child, no matter the choice.

I agree that the data for the long term effects isn’t sufficient. I got vaccinated since I’m much older but I still wonder what the long term effects will be and how it will affect me in the future. I can’t imagine having to decide for your young child with so much uncertainty and the possible guilt that may come should something go wrong with either side (vaccinate or not vaccinate). I feel that all governments shouldn’t add additional pressure to these parents until they can provide more long term data.

@felixisaac
@felixisaac 2 жыл бұрын
17 year old here, Singaporean. I had mild symptoms after my Pfizer shots too. I agree that parents and the public should be educated on the benefits AND RISKS of the vaccine. However, these vaccines were developed in less than a year with almost 2 years of trials and data analysis, we relatively understand the long term effects and risks of COVID-19 vaccines compared to other vaccines proven with decades of trials and data collection. While it is generally very safe in the short term, we don't know its long term effects of it. One of the reasons why adults and seniors were given first is because they have a more mature and better immune system than those of children below 12, and can withstand/shorten any serval effects that have taken place. We still don't know what the death rate of the Pfizer vaccine is for children below 12 in Singapore since there have been no deaths yet. My stance is that if you are above 12 and are eligible to be vaccinated in Singapore, go for it, it's free of charge. And if you experience any serval symptoms after taking the shot, you should go see a doctor/the hospital. Furthermore, from the point of view of a Pharmaceutical company like Pfizer. Should you encourage more people to take MORE BOOSTER shots or to maintain the current 2 doses of Pfizer vaccine. Think about it, the more booster shots we have, the more money they make*. As you learn in secondary 4 Social Studies, America's Healthcare System is a market-based approach. Where companies have for-profit motives and would want to maximize profits. Not discounting that they shouldn't sell these vaccines at a profit because people need to have food on the table and for their extremely hard work for developing the vaccine in less than a year. I have taken my 2 shots of Pfizer vaccines and I'm about to take my 3rd shot in a few weeks time (couldn't find a spot near my place, all were taken very quickly haha). But you need to be aware of these different points of view and why you shouldn't make a general statement of "vaccination is the best way to go". If you were to put yourself in the shoes of a parent. Thinking of the worst-case scenario, "Should I risk my child getting a long term permanent effect OR EVEN DYING from the vaccine because they're not under 18 yet just to have the vaccination status" and weigh the pros and cons. Some parents may find it obvious that it is worth the low risk and go for the vaccination/booster shots and some may find it obvious that it is NOT WORTH IT and will not vaccinate their children (some parents are vaccinated themselves even though their children is not as they are over 18). Vaccination differentiation and discrimination of your vaccination status is another topic out of scope for this comment. Thank you for reading my opinion though. Hope you understand my points and please reply if you think otherwise, would love to hear your points too. * reliefweb.int/report/world/pfizer-biontech-and-moderna-making-1000-profit-every-second-while-world-s-poorest
