Not for their physical strength, but spartans are vastly superior to elites and brutes in reaction time and body coordination.... If one does get infected that means that an overabundance of UNSC and ONI intel compromised and would serve as a hit to morale of any nonspartan personnel. IF someone as good as a spartan is lost that is saying a lot about the capability of the infection.

He summons forth combat forms to overwhelm the Chief, but just as the situation seems untenable, some rather wise Banished step in to help distract the combat forms so Chief can duel the infected Spartan 1 v 1.

Technically if the unsc could reverse engineer the halo weapon and scale down its power so you can control the size of the area it effects. It could be very effective at dealing with flood outbreaks without wiping out the entire galaxy.
